Just made this today it’s amazing!! I’m not a fan of dates but I love sticky toffee pudding it was sticky and moist. I was skeptical because the mixture curdled a lot more than hers but it turned out beautiful and springy ❤️
Would you say this is pretty authentic-tasting compared to a more traditional recipe (like one with dates)? I’m in the US and have never tasted either kind but I’m super anxious to try it! I want to know I’m getting the “real” experience but if I can skip the dates I would prefer to - just for ease, not because of flavor. This definitely looks delish and doesn’t seem too complicated....?
@@scherzo8022 It tastes more or less the same as the sponge in sticky toffee pudding. Not exact, because of the dates, but I'd say it's as close as you can get it. You could maybe blend up some dates and add them to the batter for the extra taste. Never tried that tho because I hate dates xD
Kate, you might want to get adjustable measuring cups. It's a tube with a plunger in the center, you line up the plunger to the amount you need, fill the cup, push out the plunger and scrape the ingredient off. It' makes sticky ingredients much easier to measure.
Oooh, this looks absolutely delicious! I love Mary Berry so much! Is there anything you can substitute for the treacle though? I live in the US and I'm almost positive I cannot find treacle. Could you use a dark molasses instead?
KimShea22 ...you could substitute molasses, but I would use treacle. Get treacle online. Or, if you live in a city with a population of over a few million people, there could be an expat British population which might have stores that cater to their tastes, so, you could buy it locally. Online you could try Amazon (the evil company) or maybe some small single proprietor UK firm might do it. I do remember when Cadbury was bought by an American firm, a few small companies in the UK sprang up to sell British chocolate to expats in the USA, because they feared they would not be able to get the rich Cadbury chocolate any more and would instead be forced to eat the American version. The USA version uses much less milk and uses much more sugar.
Hi Kate! I have never heard of Sticky Toffee Pudding but it looks DELICIOUS! Is the black stuff similar to caramel. In the States I don't believe we have that or maybe it is called something different here. You make all recipes look so 'easy'....wish you lived here in the States...actually wish you lived next door...I would LOVE to be your 'taste tester'...HA! Have an AWESOME and BEAUTIFUL weekend! Thanks for another AWESOME weekend!!!!
InTheKitchenWithKate unfortunately they do not have black treacle out here😖 so I have to order it from out there where your at🤗 which I don’t mind because I want it right😋
Your desserts all look so amazing. Kate, I have a favor to ask, do you think you could make a dessert or just a simple loaf of bread using bob's red mill gluten free 1 to 1 flour. I bought a bag and I'm clueless at what to do because no one seems to find the flour blend useful. I could buy another flour but I don't want to be wasteful of the flour I've already bought. It's alright if you're stumped and can't help, you'd just be in the club of many lol. Thank you, your videos are the best
100g/3½oz butter, softened, plus extra for greasing 175g/6oz light muscovado sugar 2 large free-range eggs 225g/8oz self-raising flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda 3 tbsp black treacle 275ml/9½fl oz full-fat milk double cream or vanilla ice cream, to serve For the sauce 100g/3½oz butter 125g/4½oz light muscovado sugar 1 tbsp black treacle 300ml/10fl oz pouring double cream 1 tsp vanilla extract
This is extremely Excellent, no dates in this recipe, I am a huge Fan of Sticky Toffee Pudding with Custard. Did you tried sticky toffee pudding with Custard ?
This looks like a good version of the sticky toffee pudding even though it doesn’t have dates which I don’t mind personally and imo gives it texture and not so much flavour. 😊
Forgive me. I’m VERY American - what is black treacle? I love sticky toffee pudding and would like to make this but I don’t think we have treacle in the US?
hello Kate. First of all I love your name. My daughters name is Katlyn but we call her Kate. I love your channel I’m a fairly new subscriber and I think your videos are fabulous. This sounds absolutely delicious.
Hey!! Ah thank you very much! My cousin is a Caitlyn but she sometimes gets called Cate too! Thank you very much, so pleased to hear you are enjoying my videos ☺️ I hope you enjoy our ones to come 😀
Hi Kate!! I love to bake too, and my mum's recipe for this uses finely chopped soaked dates, which adds a wonderful texture; it was interesting to see Mary Berry doesn't use them in hers: I thought this was a classic sticky toffee pudding ingredient
Hey Kate!! Yes you are right! Many sticky toffee puddings include dates! I’m not the biggest fan of dates which is another reason why I wanted to try hers but I do agree they add a nice sticky texture to them! I’ll have to try make one with dates next time ☺️
Hi, sweet adorable Kate. Your pudding looks simply gorgeous. You just keep getting more beautiful and more adorable than ever before. What's your best tip for making bread pudding? Have a good day, sweet adorable Kate. I am looking forward to your No Bake Triple Chocolate Cheesecake.
I'm watching this and I'm asking myself the same question? Where are the dates?.... I even went back and watched the video again thinking I missed it. This cannot be the best pudding if it doesn't have dates... I know this and I'm American
yes dates are essential in sticky toffee pudding, but this is Mary Berry’s recipe she doesn’t use dates she only sticks to black treacle aka molasses.. I’ve tried both they both taste similar
Diabetes never tasted so good! Oh, I’m not trying to be nasty, but being on a diet this is THE last thing I should have watched! lol. One question, I thought dates appeared in the recipes of sticky toffee pudding? I admit. This recipe looks a lot easier - and I’m not allowed to eat it damn it! You obviously have tremendous willpower not to be the size of a house if you can cook like this and still stay slim
Haha! It wasn’t great making this as I had to resist so much not to eat it all as I’m going on holiday 😆 it was divine 😍 dates appear in a lot of sticky toffee pudding but not all of them. This was another reason why I wanted to try Marys as I’m not the biggest fan of dates! Yeah I think she also leaves them out so it’s a quicker and easier recipe!
Michelle Anne for those of us in the states, yes, it’s as close as you’ll come, but it truthfully isn’t quite the same. A purchase from Amazon might be worth it if you want it authentic. Same with golden syrup. We really don’t have a true equivalent of that either.
Finally someone who also apreciates the genius that is Mary Berry
Just made this today it’s amazing!! I’m not a fan of dates but I love sticky toffee pudding it was sticky and moist. I was skeptical because the mixture curdled a lot more than hers but it turned out beautiful and springy ❤️
I've made this a few times. The compliments I've had have been amazing. I just tell them it's a Mary Berry recipe, try it it's dead easy.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how delicious this actually is. I am amazed. Tastes just like primary school desert!! Thank you so much❤
Mary Berry is a cooking queen! 👑 Love this recipe ❤️😊
If you made in advance, how would you recommend heating it all back up? Sponge in the microwave and sauce on the hob?
thanks for making one of Mary berry cakes I admire her positivity and great energy so much and you made it look so simple and delicious 😋
Mary is amazing isn't she! She's definitely one of my inspirations! 😍 This was is super simple, you should definitely give it a go!
Made this today and surprised myself! It was to die for! Everyone loved it 😍❤😋

Love love love Mary Berry! I want to make this ASAP!
I made this yesterday...it was AMAZING!
Glad you liked it!! 😊
Kate, you might want to get adjustable measuring cups. It's a tube with a plunger in the center, you line up the plunger to the amount you need, fill the cup, push out the plunger and scrape the ingredient off. It' makes sticky ingredients much easier to measure.
Oh wow!! That sounds awesome! Thank you for letting me know ☺️
Hi Kate! Thank you for the video ! It's pretty good! By the way, what English dishes would you recommend me to try ?😀😀😀
Can you use light brown sugar if you haven’t got the muscavardo in thank you
Oooh, this looks absolutely delicious! I love Mary Berry so much! Is there anything you can substitute for the treacle though? I live in the US and I'm almost positive I cannot find treacle. Could you use a dark molasses instead?

I made this a week ago and it was delicious
is the black sticky stuff like molasses?
My mum and i just made some of this the other day. Delicious😍
Delicious isn't it! I hope you enjoyed it 😋
Will golden syrup taste nicer instead of black treacle ??
Thank you for this. Yes I thought dates might have given it the moisture. But I'm begging to make this.
Nice video good take on the classic
Thank you 😀
I’m definitely going to try this ❤️💗
I hope you love it as much as I did ☺️❤️
InTheKitchenWithKate I definitely enjoyed it thank you ❤️☺️

The only place I’ve seen stick toffee pudding in the states is at the three broom stick in Harry Potter world! I need sticky toffee pudding!
Ah no way!! You should definitely try make this. It’s delicious 😋
This is extremely Excellent, no dates in this recipe, I am a huge Fan of Sticky Toffee Pudding with Custard. Did you tried sticky toffee pudding with Custard ?
Can you re warm this to eat ?
I’m a new viewer. Is black treacle available in the states? I’m so confused with what this is lol
I know you can order it on Amazon, or you can just look up other sites that sell British products.
Black treacle is the same thing as molasses.
This looks like a good version of the sticky toffee pudding even though it doesn’t have dates which I don’t mind personally and imo gives it texture and not so much flavour. 😊
Or u have substitute for treacle
Forgive me. I’m VERY American - what is black treacle? I love sticky toffee pudding and would like to make this but I don’t think we have treacle in the US?
Morgan _I was thinking dark molasses would be a good alternative, otherwise you can actually purchase it on Amazon!
Carly McEathron thank you!
I like sticky toffee pudding. It so good 😊
😀 me too!!!
if you poke holes with skewer in the sauce would soak into it quicker
Yes!!! I did think that!! But as i was following Mary's recipe I didn't but I will definitely try that next time 😋
I thought „real“ sticky toffee pudding had dates in in. Anyway, this looks delicious
Sally James that’s sticky date pudding.. tricky I know
@@liesh__ Actually, 90+% of sticky toffee pudding recipes have dates in.
That's right!, but this looks amazing as well.
Sally James ......correct, sticky toffee pudding does have dates in it!
Aliesha Palmer ......WRONG,....sticky toffee pudding does have dates in it!
Can I use white sugar plz
You could, but it wouldn't have that rich toffee taste which the muscavado sugar gives.
What is the last ingredient after the cream in the sauce. You never said
After the cream it looks like honey?
Hey!! It’s vanilla extract! ☺️
Ty!
Awesome
Hey KATE 👋🏻 Hope you are well 😊
Hey! I’m very well thank you. I hope you are too ☺️
That looks so yummy and your short hair looks gorgeous!! 😊
Thank you very much Jack!! ☺️

Did you make up?
welldone girls.
No dates?
Black treacle = molasses.
Thank you! I was wondering if that was the case!
I'm so glad you posted that! I had no idea what that was! 🤔😄
wpl ...not quite, but you can substitute molasses for it, if you can't get the real thing.
Is it the exact same or is there a subtle difference?
Yuuuuuuuuuuum
But, where are the dates?????
What, no dates?
love this video, first comment again
Yay thank you Corey 😀🎉
No problem, all your videos are amazing xx
Second comment
Thank you Adelaide! Hope you enjoy the video ☺️
Sticky toffee pudding without dates is NOT sticky toffee pudding 🙄🙄
Love you , but I prefer your testing videos xx

If it doesn't have dates then it is not a sticky toffee pudding.
Mary Berry is past it. Get her off the tv for gods sake.🙏

Hello, the sauce and the sponge must be hot or cold when we when we throw the sauce over?
It's best to add the sauce while the sauce is still warm otherwise it'll be harder to spread. The sponge doesn't want to be too hot but warm is fine
