not being mean but i love the person who is like "STOP THIS F*****G RIDE!!!!"
Same here? I was there
were you at the exact time it crashed?
I was walking to queue up then I seen it crash into the empty carriage
bet as soon as you saw that you were like aw hell naw i'm out
***** wait empty carriage? no wounder it crashed, fucking idiots
I pray everyone recovers, it's chilling hearing them shout help...
They're all alive but a couple of people ended up losing legs. It was a bad crash.
stewartplays aw bless 🥺💔
@@stewartplaysactually, only two people (who were at the very front) lost legs!
@@unknownpasta8103 That’s what I said.
When I heard the girl scream somebody help us I burst out crying I feel so sorry for them it must have been horrible
Yeah, it kept going back and forth, I think one of the girls screaming in this had o have her leg amputated, she was a dancer too. The ride kept smashing into her leg and grinding it over and over 😰
They did - it was a freaking crash, not a 'all hands and feet OFF deck' ride. When Vicky (the girl who had her leg amputated) was sitting in the front seat, they were going so fast, and they crashed into the cart in front - that impact pushed the bar in front of her down into he knee, where blood was pouring out. She had an interview on ITV and she said the bar was in her knee and blood was pouring everywhere.
Think before you speak, because you wouldn't be very happy if this happened to you - I went on the Smiler today, and I loved it. Think of what other scenarios could've happened. I could've left dead, injured, like those riders, or fine. I left fine. I'm lucky.
A1berkz are you thick in the actual head?😂 you can’t get your legs out of the cart you dumb fuck
Brandon Ohara you’re right but it’s been two years man
@@Mightic it was because they kept their feet in the cart u idiot
The bar went into there legs
My heart goes out to the victims of this tragedy.
+Lynn Giselle luckily no one died
Jordan Link thankfully
@Madilyn Sharpe Yes, but thankfully they are alive.
Mines too
Update: Another victim has got their leg amputated today.
Breaking News: someone in that ride has now had their leg amputated as a result of this accident, my heart truly does go out to their family's who are undoubtedly victims also.
@@phoebelund4531 damn. Which one?
I think she was a girl, who was practicing to be a professional dancer. God bless her, she must felt really scared at that moment
actually 2 girls had to have their legs amputated due to the severity of their injuries plus the others who sustained massive blood loss. All because no one took the safety warning seriously and there was a huge lack of communication between park employees and the engineers who were working on the ride.
She now has a Robotic leg so she can walk again. Sadly not regularly
2 actually had one leg amputated one lost a quarter of her blood
gawd you can hear them yelling help :c
Even we can hear that, let alone those knobs who filmed this video and didn't care.
ZosiaSamosiaOo Ikr :l
yu dumbass they filmed and lots of other ppl had already called ambulance and they couldnt' really jump onto the track and help them you're so stupid loool
and they did care else they wouldn't be filming it, tbh if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have a clue how the aftermath looked like (unless yu were there) so plz shush
MrsCookieLove x They took over 20 minutes to call an ambulance whereas the video was taken right after the accident so you're wrong. And I'd rather not see the video and know people have a hint of empathy and reason left inside of them that would win over their desire for sensationalism and fame.
The Smiler is one of the safest rollercoasters in the entire of England, it was a engineer and/or employee that wasn’t paying attention that caused this accident. Don’t blame the ride, blame the workers.
it was a failure to communicate vital information between the attendants of the ride and the engineer, the ride attendants added a 5th car without telling the engineer about it.
@Scott Summers it was busy on the day so to keep queues down they added a maximum 5th train. The engineer who came to fix a previous problem wasn’t told about the 5th train being added so when the system flagged up saying a section is occupied by a train he thought it was an error as he thought there were only 4 trains so he overrode it and sent the train with passengers on its way causing it to collide with the stuck train the system had notified them of
@scottsummers2935 it would run smoothly, but they intercepted and made it all go wrong
What if we heard the ha ha ha from the theme song in the background when this happened
M&H Racing it actually did trigger that..
Caryoumad the ride has a soul like all rides.
It enjoyed the incident :-/
Felice Graziano guess you could say it: Smiled :)
Ben Murphy I'm heading up to Alton for Sunday! Excited to ride the Amputator
M&H that did happen watch a cctv version and on the sound when u hear or see the crash it goes HAHAHAHA
The person filming this is so nonchalant, I'd be screaming with them.
I know, hes so calm
I feel sorry for those 16 people
I don't think they understood the severity, no one did at that time
the recording began after the crash obviously
Men are more calm in dangerous situations, there are a lot of incidents where a bird will scream and give away the positions of a group (such as a shooting) and get everyone else killed coz she couldn’t keep her gob shut.
It's really distressing hearing the screams 😔
Omfg. I don't know who Alton towers let control this ride, but whoever it was clearly wasn't paying attention enough to see the empty carriage stop an then let a carriage of 16 people crash into it. Absolutely awful, hope everyone injured recovers
Why? Surely there would be someone supervising the ride, they must have known there was another carriage? If not, I apologise that I'm not educated on how a ride works...
Ok. Thanks!
EliseAnya just to let you know a girl lost her leg
***** i know yeah... I think the other girl, Vicky recently lost hers too
+EliseAnya thx and i have lol on crutches though
One of the girls lost her leg... feel so sorry for the poor girl. Only 17 years old aswell ! even though these people involved will be getting pay outs... no amount of money can come close to making a 17 year old girl losing her leg okay. Thoughts are with them all.
2 of them lost a leg.
Louise Davis shut up
Half leg but yea...
@@CrazyManhogWhat kind of halfwit focuses on a technicality like that?
for anyone wondering... water slides are more dangerous than rollercoasters because rollercoasters can be fixed and the incident will probably never happen again. Whereas incidents tend to keep happening on water slides.
Also the water slide incidents are more likely than not due to the riders themselves not following protocol while rollercoaster incidents are usually caused by either human error, negligence, mis-communication or malfunction that couldn’t be caught in time and rarely ever by the riders not following protocol(although it does still happen, height limits exist for a reason)
yeah i fell out of the raft once i was okay tho
yeah, did you hear about the kid in kansas at schlitterbahn waterpark (idk how u spell it) who got decapitated on a water slide bc part of the safety net over the top snapped and hit him in the neck
@@xxleah_haydenxx that was terrifying dont remind me of that
The absolute fear in their voices is what haunts me the most
All these people saying The Smiler should be demolished and removed after this accident need to realize that the possibilty of that happening is next to non-existant. They'll most likely greatly improve the safety of it while operating rigourous daily checks to make sure it's working properly and also with less cars on the track. I reckon it'll be back open to the public at the beginning of next season! Afterall, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland once derailed and killed a man while also seriously injuring others on the train, but the ride is still in operation and open to the public! As sad as it is what has happened, at least nobody died and the poor girl who has lost a leg still has a chance at life, albeit a different route. You can't do that when you're dead. If a ride can remain open that was dangerous enough to kill somebody, I'm sure The Smiler won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Gettinbuzz According to my mom we were there the day after the thundermountain railroad incident happened and i just remember it being so earily quiet that day and the mood was just off. I can’t be certain cuz she told us after the trip but it just felt extremely off that day so i believe it.
Ekaterina Heridis The ride is perfectly safe, it was human error that caused the accident so if anything we are the problem, not the ride. You have a bigger chance of dying while driving there than dying on the coaster, so keep that in mind
Ekaterina Heridis, it is not. Many reasons contributed to the crash but none of them at all were actually the coaster’s fault! At all!
Maximum wind speed which it should have been run at - 33mph. However, it was indeed run when winds were at speeds of 46 mph. Therefore, Alton Towers was to blame here. They ignored the limit guidelines from Gerstlauer. (The manufacturer of Smiler)
Miscommunication - Operators decided, due to how busy it was, to put a 5th train onto the track. This therefore led to the further problem.
The operators had sent the first empty train out for the test run, the second was full of passengers. When they sent the second train out, the incline on the coaster stopped the train, sending a message to the operators that there was something else occupying the track ahead of them.
This lead to the operators calling the technician for the ride, however, as that person was misinformed about an empty train supposedly running on the track, they decided to overrun the system, most likely thinking that since the Smiler was new, it was practically being too safe and alerting unnecessary precautions.
The technician had no knowledge of there being 5 trains instead of 4, he/she had no knowledge of one of those trains being on the track at all.
This makes the Smiler a safe coaster. It was not due to lack of safety from it, either. Since this crash, multiple people were fired, multiple new people were hired, alongside the workers getting much more training for procedures like this. The ride had been thoroughly checked, also Saw: The ride, in Thorpe Park, also made by Gerstlauer, was temporarily closed at the same time to make sure that ride was safe too.
OreoPuppiez thank you for posting what actually happened. People don’t realize how safe rides like this are. This was miss communication and assuming the block was clear rather than actually checking the block like they should have.
Cori Ambler yeah, exactly! The situation on the aspect of what actually happened was blown out of proportions, and false accusations were made of the ride generally being unsafe, which in fact is not the case. The Smiler was doing as it was functioned and made to do, and it was safe.
0:10 I head this sentence. Oh god..
“Help us!”
That sent chills up my spine
and those people didn't even know how much damage there was
Ohh wonderful, more fuel for the anti-coaster agenda. Just another freak accident a million times more unlikely than a car accident. Hope everyone recovers.
KyleJPie10 well yeah but the merlin company has had quite a few of these problems... but knowing this fucking country and it's pussyfied attitude towards slightly dangerous fun things I wouldn't be surprised if they banned roller coasters in the uk all together because of this.
Unfortunately it's not just another freak accident though is it? They'd been having problems earlier that day and people said that the empty carriage had stopped and things and they still sent them out. That was stupidity and carelessness nothing freak about it ... Hope everyone makes a full recovery and rehabilitation goes well for all.
***** Obviously everything happens for a specific reason, but it is a freak accident regardless. Negligence is just one of a million reasons something like this could happen.
***** roller c oasters are fitted with sensors throughout the track that mean if there is a carriage stuck somewhere another one cant be sent out whether staff press the button or not. obviously something went very wrong somewhere :/
KyleJPie10 "the anti-coaster agenda"? i think you can sleep easy pal.
Oh my god that is a truly sickening sight to say the least. I wish all the people involved make a speedy recovery
You can hear Joe ( one of the boys on the front row ) screaming "stop f'ing recording" "stop it" he talked about that on "This Morning"
Jade Ambrose he says stop the fucking ride not recording
Jade Ambrose he said stop the ride
Wait was that the full length of cart or two together
Freddie Gaming243 Two together, they crashed
@@abbie6890 ohh I thought that was full length
the screaming sounds are horrifying :(
That's what happens when you send a carriage full of people round before the empty test carriage has no competed the circuit. and what happens when there is an override system for the block brakes i an tell you that the ride op that was in charge of the buttons/ in the op cabin has been given the sack and is never aloud to work for Merlin Entertainments again. Best wishes to the family and friends and the people involved in this accident pray that they will recover soon.
When one of the girls was shouting help, that made me tearful
and when the man said stop the ride🥺

*"HELP US!!!"*
I *wanted* to ride this but that almost gave me a heart attack...luckily the ride is fixed..

The ride is amazing and honestly this shouldn't stop you from riding, the tradegy is so fast but the smiler is an a amazing and safe ride, it was human mistake which caused this crash.
I know your comments 3 years old, but have you been on it? Highly recommend if not.
0:02 you can literally see the carriage crashed into the empty one ABSOLUTELY CRUSHED AT THE FRONT, nightmare fuel. i hope those people are ok 8 years later.
I can't see anything
@@TaxingIsThievingMaybe if you opened your eyes.
i could here the girl who got her leg chopped off say "help us"
Which one there was 2?
She seemed to calm maybe someone behind the one screaming this her maybe
i can hear the people screaming for help in the back who got injured on this ride!
Honestly how is this still aloud on UA-cam
This really was a horrendous thing to have happened to these people. The media's coverage hasn't helped put Alton Towers in a positive light as to how they handled the situation. The injured 4 in particular are in my thoughts at the moment. xx
to those who don't know already this accident was down to human error, someone who was operating the trains did the manual override button and caused the ride to continue, for the ride itself it will be reopened next June as there was no mechanical failure whatsoever.
Hearing those screams is so scarring
You can hear them screaming for help.... so scary and sad I’m glad they all are ok now
I wouldn't say losing a leg considers as "fine".
@AutisticAl They are sad but he means not still injured
I am terrified of roller coasters why am I watching this
God, I am supposed to be going in 5 weeks with my school, wonder if it will actually be open then?
I really hope these people on the ride are ok
This was some employee's fault. Smiler dectected the stalled car, and it doesn't let two cars on the same section of track at the same time for saftey. So it stopped the passenger-filled car. The employee overrided the saftey feature due to "stress from a high amout of people in line". The Smiler was also operating in wind speeds much higher then its recomended safe operation.
Correct. I’m glad I’m not the only one who knows the ride did what it was supposed to do.
I’ve seen a lot of people still complaining about the safety of this ride.
The ride isn’t really dangerous at all it was the people operating it ffs
Never in my life am I gonna think of going to Alton Towers!
+Miranda Sings' Bae
The owner of Alton towers run several themeparks around the UK.
+Miranda Sings' Bae well u can go but stay away from smiler if u like big rides try oblivion
Alton Towers is actually amazing, the rollercoaster just had poor maintenance, in fact Alton Towers is home to many amazing coasters, like Nemesis, Rita, Th13teen, Air, and more.
It's so good just don't sit in the front row of any ride, I sat on the front row on rita and I got such bad whiplash.
Why? It's now safer because of the crash
omg i cant believe what i'm seeing, feel sorry for those people who got injured in the ride
I went there yesterday I’m home now and I went in the smiler and it was my favourite now my family started -this was when we left the park-about crashes and stuff and I just feel so horrible for those people who were hurt
0:09 You can see the Blood the girl said however when it happened she felt not so much pain but her legs were not able to move
There legs were amputated because of how long that sat there for 3 hours i believe
I bet the survivors are still haunted by the smiler theme to this day.
Stop this fucking ride sent chills this is horrible. It never should’ve happened the fact that the ride operator did nothing
I feel so sorry for the ppl who wear on that ride. xx
I think one guy should’ve shouted STOP THE F***KING SOUNDTRACK
me: *is watching this video* *sees the carriage starts swinging* *pauses video* I can’t watch this or I’ll never ride anything ever again
I didn't really get emotional untill i saw this vid and heard the screams, i just didn't look into it much and now i feel bad.
Great idea lets film people in pain rather than call for help!!!! Well done society
what could they have done? everyone was already well aware of what happened
One lost a limb ... I saw no accident here is it the screaming and the carriage going back and fourth ?
RawrIts Tamzin that's new lol
There only for cars on the train if you look there's eight down there.
2
No its two people who lost their legs look in the middle two carriages
Wait so they crashed into the other carriage and joined with it?
+Hannah Payne Yeah.
+William Tyndale you can hear them shouting "help us" and "Stop the fucking ride" the reason why we don't see the actual collision in this video is because the owner did not film it, they filmed straight after
+William Tyndale omg you're still going on about this. people almost died on this ride, and all you care about is trying to get people to believe your theory. no one recorded the crash, and if anyone did, they would NOT post it, that's just pure disrespect. i don't know about you, but everyone, and most certainly myself, can here people screaming and crying for help. So please, take your disrespectful and uncalled for theories elsewhere, because you're not fooling anyone.
+Woody Edits out*
wow you are one lowlife. Theres footage of the crash. i can clearly see the guy at the back of the train shouting stop the ride.
stop this f**king ride that's all i heard
I hope all the people hurt in this sue Alton towers.
They will probably get compensation that's it
***** there's no company that runs the ride its the person who owns Alton Towers they own the Smiler
***** I know, Saw the Ride at Thorpe Park and a couple of others at Chessington
Scott Jennings Theme parks up and down England are run by Merlin which is a company.
***** Gerstlauer and it an Infinity roller coaster and merlin have closed other rides made by the same people including Saw which is a euro fighter. how come the other two infinity coasters made by gerstlauer not been shut down to investigate? seems strange to me or perhaps it is an operators fault
It’s just the last part of your correction
Ok did not expect that
It should be pulled down now this ride was always full of faults
xenacharmed crow exaclty
xenacharmed crow It's their fault for choosing an unreliable German company to build it. Nemesis has been going for 21 years and has never had a severe breakdown or accident.
***** The Smiler was manufactured by Gertlauer; a German company. Nemesis was manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard; a Swiss company.
John Wardley designed both rides, yes. But he didn't build them or choose specific parts.
***** what the fuck is the fact that the designers German got to do with it?
MRtoast Nothing. Just noting where it was from...
0:03 you hear the recorder say to them "oh well later" that's so mean!! You are seeing Injured People on a ride and you say mean things about them!!! HOW DISRESPECTFUL ARE YOU!!
not like he is calling them dumb or something he legit just said oh well later
all the ride need was a ram on the front and back of the trains so if they ever got close enough to each other they couldnt possibly get close enough to cause harm to anyone on the ride... maybe whiplash and all the rest but not crushing
2 girls had to get there leg amputated
Your wrong Mr know it all
why am i wrong? what is wrong about it... i said what the ride needed when it was built not that it has it
i agree with you but due to the structure of the trains if there were "pushes" on them it would affect the speed and steadyness of the ride but work is being done with new regulations for future rides to make the trains if you will "more"crashproof"" if you want more information just ask me. ❤💚💛smile always💛💚❤
lucky 13
surely it is no different then adding a carriage if they wanted to design a coaster that would be stable and speed and steady with a ram on the front it wouldnt take much atall no more than designing the coaster in the first place
The screams at 0:17 are disturbing
If you notice, on cart of seats looks so connected to the other. It conneced at full imact.
That one train is not one, but two carts smashed together.
OHH THANKS i was so confused
I feel sorry for all the people that was on that ride and I'm truly sorry if they were in your family but I am upset with the people that got injured on the ride I am not going on any rollercoaster again because of this
I heard joe say stop taking photos. My heart goes out to everyone but thankfully no one died.
That must've been scary af
I sends chills down my spine just imaging the pain the people on the smiler must have gone though hopefully something like this will never happen again
Smiler is still there because it wasn’t the rides fault.
When I went to Alton Towers I can't remember if The Smiler was open or not because it had just been made
I love the guy that goes STOP THE FU####G RIDE!!!! When the ride has already crashed lol
They guy in the back looks confused😭
Imagine if they didn’t notice THAT train for some reason and another one crashed into the back of the second train.
No way its the shorts guy
Notice how the screaming from the girls is worse when the empty train pushes back on they're legs.
Ouch. Must have been dreadful.

HOW DID THE PEOPLE ON THE PATHS NOT SEE THE EMPTY CARRIAGE JUST ON THE TRACK
they probably did but there's nothing they could do
Suppeople123 Aj there’s nothing they could do, even if they saw it on the tracks they would think nothing off it because they knew on that day they were experiencing technical difficulties
Tons of people did but they would have had to barge through the whole queue and they would get stopped and then try to explain and get turned awau
This ride was built as a suspenseful, horror ride. And now, that’s how it’ll be remembered...tragic...
And the scary thing is that I have been on this ride multiplied times ! 😭I hope they are all alright 😭 poor things
It’s not the scariest thing that you’ve been on it the scariest thing is the operator that day
Why are they asking to stop a ride that is valleyed where there are no brakes?
They’re saying “stop the noise,” not “stop the ride.” The Smiler’s track has maniacal laughing and singing in the background. Imagine listening to that on loop while your legs are smashed into bits and you can understand why they were screaming like that to turn the music off.
@@thatssobrunette That is honestly really good to know.

I would be screaming and then shout WE ARE CALLING THE EMERGENCY SERVICES! YOU WILL GET MEDICAL ATTENTION! WE ARE CALLING 999!
No one called for 20 minutes. It was 5 hours before they got to hospital.
The fact the smiler crash is this guys most popular video💀
This brings a whole newer disturbing vibe to the phrase "you belong to the smiler"
When this was recorded had it already happened or was that the start of it?
It had already happened. There’s two video clips currently, showing moments after the collision (this video) and one before and during collision, though it is without audio as its security footage
At last, proof that there are people with the IQ of a potato
I can’t remember if anyone perished in this but I know some lost legs and were permanently scarred from this
I don't believe there were any fatalities, thankfully.
THIS IS THE PEOPLE WHO WORKED IN THE RIDES ARE THE ONES TO BLAME. THEY WERE DOING A SAFTEY TEST AND THIS HAPPENED BUT WITHOUT KNOWING, THEY LET IT SLIDE AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED WITH YOU DON’T PAY ATTENTION
Why did someone saw this crash happen and thought „oh yes, lets film this and post it on the internet“ ? 🤦🏼♀️
Imagine someone’s kids is on that
I was 11 when I went on. Imagine a 10-11 Yr old kid on front row!
The people on there crying hits hard when you know what injuries they had
Per ride there is 4 rows as u can see u can see 8 they ran into the empty one, 2 girls at the front lost a leg, she was the 1 screwming for help as her leg in cut of
Guys. 1 accident this severe since they've opened the park and everyone goes crazy. Yes the incident was horrific and is so scary to think about, but it was a fault. Everyone is making this larger than life 'FUCK ALTON TOWERS, SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN.' - Seriously... Nothing is perfect.
Ive been on this ride numerous of times and it always breaks down. They've just made it into such a technical ride which is actually too dangerous
This ride is safe
I went on this ride the first day it opened and I sat in the exact same seats as them😯
I don't understand. The people are saying the train in vid came round and hit full speed into another one.... Why isn't this all mangled and smashed up at the front???
It looks intact.
It was all smashed the two girls who sat in the front middle seats lost a leg each, plus it isn't all shamed up because the trains are made up of metal, it is very strong. If you look for pictures on Google you can see how badly mangled the front train was after the incident.
The thing is how are they gonna stop it because the ride has stopped but it is swaying so you can't really stop it more
Actually started crying as that girl is screaming for her life “help us”
This is why I don’t go to Alton towers
Bro The Smiler is one of the safest rides in the world
Touch some grass GP
the people in the back must’ve had incredible G’s
