  • Hello modellers,
In this video, you can see why I almost gave up this project,
but how I came up with an idea that may just save this entire build.
This kit is from HASEGAWA in 1/72, Cat.Nr.:02269.
    I also used upgrade sets.
Resin ejection seats from AIRES (CatNr:7169)
    www.aires.cz/e...
3D-printed decals from QUINTA STUDIO (CatNr.:QD72027)
    quinta-studio....
Resin wheels from Armory Models (AR AW72331)
    armorymodels.c...
This is not a sponsored video. The kit, upgrade sets, paints, materials, and everything I use were paid for with my own money.
    Music from UA-cam Audio Library
    Boardwalk - TrackTribe
    Thanks for watching!
    All the best!
    CSL

My very first airshow I went to was in 1984 at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. There, Dale "Snodgrass" was flying the F14 along with all the other Grumman "Cat planes" for the airshow. This was the 1st time all of the Grumman Cat planes were flying in formation. I remember how slow and barely staying in the air the Tomcat was doing, while the piston engine propeller planes were flying next to him.
I've been interested in aviation ever since that day when I was just 13 years old. Back in 2007 I won a raffle from the Air Zoo for a ride in a P51 Mustang.

You're lucky to saw and heard the Tomcat and the other cats. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a tomcat. I like cats...😊

I got to see the Grumman cats at the 1992 show in Kalamazoo. Dale "Snort" Snodgrass flew the Tomcat that day as well.

Very ingenious display! I love the Tomcat and they were my favorite planes to watch during flight ops, when I could make it topside. I have built one of the Hasegawa Tomcats in 1/72, and there were some challenges. Keep up the great work!

Looks amazing! But do you know what would really add A LOT to this diorama? Some figures... a museum staff member on the plataform and some kids looking at the cockpit...
    Great work and great idea!!

      Thank you ☺️
To be honest with you, I've never made a figure before. This is one of my future goals to learn how to paint figures.

Yeah the TF-30 had its issues but once the F-14As were at higher Altitudes those TF-30s became very efficient and performed marvelously and if pilots weren’t careful when at supersonic speed. The TF-30s in combination with the way that the Tomcat’s air intakes were design. The TF-30s would start behaving like the engines used on the SR-71 Blackbirds.
Pilots were told to keep the speed under Mack 2.46 to prevent the flames from move forwards into the compressor blades which weren’t designed to survive the kind of heat generated.

That's true, however, the GE engine widened the performance ability. The F-14B and later the D were the ultimate BadCat...😁
      Thanks for watching the video.
