Hey I've had my '18 Pilot going on 5 years -- but not until this video did I know I could remote key lower my windows on hot days. Great stuff- really useful all around. Only problem with this video is now I want a NEWER Honda!
1:27 - Can the prolonged 10 minutes be added once the first remote start procedure has been initiated and the car is running (making it 20 continuous minutes), or do we have to wait for the car to shut off after the first 10 minutes and just perform the same steps twice?
Yes, you can extend the time without waiting for the car to shut off. Just start the remote engine sequence again while the car is running, and it will add another 10 minutes, giving you 20 minutes total.
@@HondaInsider Thank you. Honda did a poor job of explaining how this works in their documentation. I got a new 2024 CR-V this year and have been banging my head trying to get it to run for the full 20 minutes. What they fail to explain is that you must initiate the second remote start procedure *close to when the first remote start procedure has reached the 10 minute expiration point*. Most people like myself initiate the second start procedure shortly after the first one expecting a total of 20 minutes run time, but the system does not add it to the end of the first timer. It effectively runs two ten minute timers simultaneously and the car stops running after 10 minutes. Hope this makes sense and helps someone else out there.
Thank you for your question! I'll do my best to assist you. For security reasons, the engine stops running when you open a HATCH or HOOD. However, in my experience, it doesn't happen when you open the doors or just grab the door handle with the key on you. Could you please provide more details about what exactly occurs? For instance, does the engine stop running every time you grab the door handle or press the unlock button on your remote? What make and model of car do you own?
@@HondaInsider just came from dealer who stated it warms up the engine but car interior only to 50 something and I just sent him a section of your video. Thanks

You can release the button and stop the windows where you want. Nice if you aren't going to be close by to watch the car.
Just brought home ‘24 CRV EXL..this vid will definitely help me with not reading every page in drivers manual
Congrats on your purchase! Stay tuned for more educational content!

Remote start does not startcar heater or get heated seats going. 2024 Crv Hybrid.
Betsy, thanks for your comment. I would suggest checking with your local dealer as it should warm up your interior and heat your seats on a cold day.
If you send me an email here, I can send you a quick video.
