Just to point out, mitosis occurs only in eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotic cells, which lack a nucleus, divide by a different process called binary fission.

Is there a difference between binary fission and mitosis?
there is a organalle called mesosome which is responsible for cell division in PROKARYOTICS, it simply do DNA replication when DNA get stacked on it . Then the DNA is two in one cell thereby the cell divides its cytoplasm and form a layer (division layer) called plasma membrane and at last the cell get divides.
there is not only one mode of asexual reproduction in cell .
