A year round daylight saving time means a 9:30am sunrise in the winter. So it will be darker longer in the winter mornings. Daylight savings time artificially shifts an extra hour of daylight from morning to evening. So the sun rises and sets 1 hr later than standard time.

With standard time, in the summer, we'd have 4am sunrise, which I think would make it hard to sleep, and 4pm sunset. So if we have problems in the winter mornings with permanent daylight saving time, we'd have the same problem in the summer afternoons with permanent standard time.
It made be a hassle, but I think the only way to get the right amount of daylight year round is to change our clocks twice a year.

We support and defend Daylight Saving Time year round. We are going allowed to Make Daylight Saving Time permanent. We change the clock twice every year. Year round. It's the law of the Uniform Time Act of 1966 signed by President Lyndon Johnson.

They can keep the standard time all year around. That doesn't require Congress approval. At least that will be more stable than changing clocks twice a year and go through this disruptive sleep cycle.

Except that means the sun comes up at 3 am and summer days are shorter. The PNW needs more light for after work fun and compensation for long dark winter days. It’s ridiculous it would take congress to approve this and standard time it wouldn’t. Such a stuck nation.

No, DO NOT PASS THIS SUNSHINE BILL. Instead, let Washington establish a Sunrise Time system where we begin our days by the time of sunrise. Under this system Washington will establish 12 annually fixed days --- 6 for each half of the year --- where we begin our workdays and schooldays earlier or later in the morning depending on the time of sunrise. Under this system a 9-to-5 workday in December will become a 6-to-2 workday in June. We will go from 9-5 to 6-2 in fifteen-minute increments every few weeks whenever the sun rises early enough to execute another 15-minute block. We will reverse the process from June to December. This will completely abolish the ills of enduring the ills of setting clocks forward and backward one hour at a time. Oh by the way: Daylight Saving Time is nothing short of Daylight Lying Time because Daylight Lying Time is designed to give us the false impression that we start our days at the same time every day of the year no matter what time of the year it is. Why can't we be completely honest with our place in time by shifting our days around by small increments rather than by shifting the clock around to give us the false impression that it's still the same time of day when actually it's an hour later or earlier depending on the time of year? STOP DAYLIGHT LYING TIME AND ADOPT SUNRISE TIME!

I vote to keep daylight saving in place permanently. The clock switching is not pleasant. The weekend charge RN inadvertently shut her alarm off and was late to work likely because her internal clock protested. Standard time in the PNW would have the sun blasting at 3 a.m. in summer. Except for a small shoulder of time where the dark mornings are extended, no one escapes dark mornings in at times during the year but more evening light is very much valued.

Unless you live at the perfect longitude within your time zone, your time is artificial all year. Only at the perfect longitude is standard time in sync with true solar time ie. midnight is truly the middle of the night and noon truly halfway btween sunrise and sunset,

Changing the clocks does not create more daylight instead change the time of sunrise and sunset
Permanent Standard Time means sunrise and sunset would be 1 hour earlier all year especially during the summer
    As an example
Latest sunset is at 8:31pm change the clock to 7:31pm
Permanent DST means sunrise and sunset would be 1 hour later especially during the winter
    As an example
Latest sunrise in New York is at 7:20am change clock to 8:20am

If they made daylight saving time permanent, during the winter months, it wouldn't get light out until about 8am, meaning kids would be going to school in pitch dark. (They tried permanent daylight saving time in the 70s, and it failed because of that.)
And if they made standard time permanent, during the summer months, it would get light out at about 5am, which I think would make it hard to sleep. And it would get dark at about 4pm.
I say stick to changing our clocks.

Like I said, it wouldn't get light out until almost 9am during the winter months, which I think would cause the same, if not worse, problems in the morning.
And with permanent standard time, we'd have the same problems during the summer months, when it gets dark out after 4pm.
I think someone even said the sun's supposed to be highest at 12pm, and that wouldn't be the case either way. And clocks don't control the ammount of daylight we get. The sun does.
