Never before have i watched a 3 hour video following a storm. But it's just so... easy to watch. This weather man and this team work beautifully together.
Look up April 27, 2011 Tornado Outbreak
Jason Simpson and James Spann covered a major Tornado Outbreak for 8 hours in the morning and another 8 hour outbreak in the afternoon to late evening.
Biggest outbreak since 1974.
I believe it was Cordova Alabama that was hit with 2 EF 5s.
One in the morning then in the afternoon.
Even if you aren't a weather enthusiast and just like watching some coverages check it out.
Wow.... This weatherman deserves a award! I am only FORTY minutes in and he has been moving, talking and coordinating the event non stop.
We oklahomans need a good weatherman because we get a lot of bad storms. Thank god for mike.
JIMJAMSC yea sometimes my weathermen get burnt out ten minutes in. They are all animated and talking fast with their voice trembling then ten minutes later its like their bunt out and like uhhhhhh its crossing 6th street and some hail........... then pause for ten seconds before going on about something else. It has to be hard to just keep going though sometimes.
I'm always amazed at the stamina of weather folks during these outbreaks. I used to joke that we knew it was going to be a bad night when our weatherman took off his jacket and rolled up his shirt sleeves.
@@LifeInAConcreteBox james spann? I hear that alot with him lol
Miranda Stephens, yes, when James Spann takes off his jacket, rolls up his sleeves and has his suspenders on😂
Hope y’all are staying safe and healthy ❤️
Man I didn’t realize how spoiled I was with the 4 warn storm team until I moved to Tulsa. I woke up to loud winds a few nights ago. I went on the balcony of our apartment to bring our plants in and decided I should turn the news on to find out what was going on. After about 20 minutes of watching the weather man I realized there was a tornado about a mile away. No sirens, no storm trackers with eyes-on, no storm tracker on the Doppler. Just a weather man telling me there’s a tornado in Tulsa. There weren’t even streets on their map. I could have pulled up Doppler on a website and got the same information. Thank you so much to Mike and his team. They have saved countless lives.
Wow I'm super surprised to hear that ..Tulsa of all the places in the entire world would be the one place I'd have thought had it all when it comes to tornado alerts and warning systems
Wow. What a shitastic system over there. Idc if I'll get hate, y'all(those in charge of the area) are over here KILLING your citizens. You SHOULD have working sirens and working radar and news for any potential tornadic activity. ESPECIALLY If it's in a tornado prone area like Tulsa
I live in Tulsa and have lived here my whole life and I can tell you they are very competent in getting advance warning to folks on incoming storms through sirens, phone alerts, and TV/Radio. We rarely have a death due to tornadoes up here.
@@lpsgarrett30 We do have working sirens. The only time in recent memory that there was an issue with sirens was the night an EF2 spawned at 41st and Yale. The meterologists and storm trackers are always at it, too.
It wasn't like that when I lived in Tulsa. The map could get it down to an address. It would take over anything that was on TV. Basically the same as the OKC area. I will say, the ones down in OKC have it like no other in the world.
"This tornado has some strength as well"
Tornado: Oh really?
-Ropes out and dies.
Tornadoes are definitely sentient and tornadoes definitely go against what we think they are going to do.
haha

This man is not a weatherman this is a well seasoned Meteorologist Hats off to you and all of your fellow Meteorologist and all the storm chasers and first responders who are risking everything to make sure that all Community’s are safe and protected Please stay safe and heed all weather related warnings
Watching a tornado video intensely and the siren goes off, you instantly freak out about to head to the basement before you remember it’s noon on Wednesday (and winter in Wisconsin)
LOLOL Same! And I keep forgetting I can pause it if I need to!
does anyone else just put this on at night to fall asleep to or just me-
I turn on the afternoon tornado outbreak of April 27, 2011.
The audio quality is iffy. It's due to most of the equipment being messed up because of the morning outbreak.
Not due to bad editing
I do, and I sometimes even dream about them. I've lived through two tornadoes, and what these storm chasers do has helped me so much to overcome my fear of these storms.
You know shit’s about to hit the fan when the weatherman says “HOLY MACKEREL!”
Best comment!! 😂
Pls tell me where.

@@Ritzynco Thank you a lot!
This weatherman is doing a great job!!! Dancing between control room information, live reports and the ever changing map!!! WOW!!!
Been in OK for fifty years and every tornado i hear a town name I've never heard before.
People give meteorologists shit - but look at Mike literally lead the entire studio - and the affected cities - through several tornadoes, all the way down to telling them how to present the information on screen ("double box it!"). What a fucking MAN. This is who we need to protect in case of the apocalypse.
No illusions that he did it alone though - but you just gotta admire the leadership.
KFOR has the best tornado coverage of any local news I've ever seen! They storm spot in a helicopter! No telling how many lives they've helped to save over the years being in the heart of tornado alley.
Watch Gary and David on Kwtv you’ll change your mind
These storms are terrifying& beautiful all at the same time!
I didn't think I'd watch all of this coverage but I was curious about this tornado which I knew little about but they sucked me in. I watched every minute, only this coverage and the Mayfield and Moore events captivated me like this. That's a sign it's very well done as far as informative coverage. Great job indeed.
"Chance Coldiron" is such a cinematic name.
@twistingfury 😂
Meh, I'd say not.
Sounds like a porn actor name.
He’s also a racist, Trump supporting fucktard.
Nick Howley this is a youtube comment section not a rally so shut
Fantastic teamwork throughout the entire storm. Most impressive to see all these people working together.
dam, you know its serious when they cancel jeopardy ...lol
Jeapordy is always on at prime time for severe weather! Here in southeastern Ohio, this year,2019, there was a tornado warning, and the newscasters were breaking in, reporting on it, and the locals, "hillbillies " were calling in that there show was being interupted! To top it off, the newscasters were apologetic having to interrupt normal broadcasting! Unbelievable!

Me and my dad: ..... YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!
Me and my dad still don’t know the answer to the question
Same thing happened on the episode of The Bachelor, that got interrupted, and the meteorologist at ABC 7 literally went on a rant on tv and on Twitter.
bye bye, Alex
Makes me miss living in Norman. Grew up there for 16 years. Oklahoma had great meteorologists.
The helicopter shot at roughly 1:29:00 reminds of a helicopter video I saw eons ago of the Watonga tornado from October 1998. That motion in that white vortex is just amazing, and it reminds me so much of that video.
Got a link?
Great coverage during this video.. Hats off, especially to Chance Coldiron who, (like Pecos Hank); often stops and exits vehicle to film, which most chasers rarely bother to do.. Doing so gives the viewer and himself a much better/safer visual perspective as to the speed & direction of the Vortex/vortices & also affords the opportunity for better audio as well..Well done guys !!
I love hank. Great chaser!

Mike and his team do a great job!
Spending this coronavirus working from home and learning about severe storms. I've lived in Minnesota my whole life and I can say beyond a doubt that Mike Morgan is the best meteorologist in the business. He should be more well known if he isn't already.
Obviously you don’t know about James Spann.
@@janblackman6204 Spann is the man!!!!
James Spann, Gary England, Mike Morgan
James Spann takes the lead due to covering Outbreaks, not just one large Tornado.
Not taking away from Mike Morgan or Gary England but as above, it's much easier to cover one tornado than 5-10 at one time

That tornado was incredible 😮
I was on my to my then boyfriend's house and couldn't figure out why everyone was stopped on the side of the road. So then we pulled over and about thirty seconds later a tornado dropped in a field just outside of Stillwater. Scariest thing ever.

When I retired from the fire service because I injured my middle back and my nurse practitioner diagnosed me with osteoarthritis in my thoracic spine and I have chronic pain 7 years ago i went abd got certified in skywarn storm spotter and I don't that acouple of years then i storm chased all around America and my beautiful wife been begging me to retire because if the arthritis in my back and my chronic pain so i made a deal with her I won't storm chase any more but I will always be a trained certified skywarn storm spotter and I will only stay within a 50 mile radius to home and she agreed but my time is coming faster than I like to talk about where I'll have to retire and pass the torch on to the younger generation
Thank you for providing this vital service to your state, city and local neighborhoods!! I live in a totally different state, where we will only have a rumble of warning when the earthquake comes. I have been following tornadoes since the 1980’s and the improvement in warnings is vital to the saving of lives. My hat off to you, sir!!
Not the face I pictured in my head... Chance Coldiron.
I live in Northeastern Oklahoma but I'm moving to Norman in the fall to attend the University of Oklahoma. The storms always seem to be much worse out there so can't wait to get to experience the severe storms first hand lol
The track on this thing around 25-26 minutes is unreal, it jogs across the road then immediately shifts motion again and goes back across the other way. Just shows how unpredictable these things are.
I think that was just the debris cloud spinning around?
@@peachxtaehyungI see you K-pop lady everywhere. You’re very wrong about this. It’s path was mostly straight but there’s a kink where it goes up and comes back before coming back down to its original path. Deviant motion like that is super dangerous. aren't these the same guys who ALSO documented the May 3 1999 tornado?
Yes
Emily Sutton impressed me.. She comes across as a well-trained, experienced spotter versus a red bull-fueled chaser. She understands the assignment - she's controlled, composed, speaks clearly, and delivers location details precisely.
Aaron Brackett was great, too!
Chance Coldiron the most underrated chaser imo

Less electronic maps and more aerial footage needed. You have a chopper with great views and you cut away from it. Drivers with potentially good views that can't keep still or you cut to the map again when they are. Still it's fascinating work and clearly everyone is doing their best under a lot of stress and poor reception. The second half was much better.
The katie tornado was a beautiful tornado though
At 2:14:20 it looks like the 1st tornado scene in Twister, they are going the opposite direction though. I'm waiting for a yellow pickup truck to fall from the sky.
By far most violent scariest one ever seen when it was crossing that road hitting barn looked like a spinning Washing machine
The weather forecasters and spotters do an excellent job trying to for-warn people of the potential danger coming to their region, but storm chasers are a different matter, they are just in it for the thrill or adrenaline rush, and putting themselves and others in danger doing a totally irresponsible and irrational thing just for the chance to make a film in the hopes of making money, forgetting that their actions have, potentially, serious consequences to other people. Thanks for sharing this excellent and informative video with us all. 👍
Yeah, the spotters are incredible!
....most storm chasers ARE storm spotters. They are usually the first ones to lay eyes on a tornado or the formation of a tunnel, and they always radio and/or call it in to the NWS and 911....
I got a drill bit, I put 4 tomatoes on it and spun it through my train set. and made a tomato warning... :) lmao

Holy Mackerel! lol I love Mike
You can build houses to withstand tornados it is expensive but not difficult. My grandparents 3rd house has been hit by 2 F4 tornados that did essentially no damage. They also have more money than brains. They should have built a normal 200,000$ house with a safe room and bought insurance. Instead of buying insurance they built a 750,000$ house that is made like a bunker.
That's easier said then done with alot of people though. Most people don't have that kind of money to spend on either building a house like that or to buy a house that was made that way...
If an EF4 slams into your house straight on...I don't care what type of house you build...its going down chief. 200mph+ winds with flying debri...yeah no house will withstand that without damage or being completely demolished.
Yeah well some people don't care to lose all of their belongings in a tornado if they don't have to
Where’s reed timmer at?
He didn't work there at that point I believe he worked for kfor in like 2013-2014
He's somewhere screaming his head off.
Nowhere around. Thank god.
Screaming in the fetal position somewhere
Reed timmer is a douche, no news station would want him. He screams way to much and doesnt give accurate details.

Reed Timmer, " AHHHHHHHHHHHH"
I couldn't imagine living in the Moore area it seems like they get one every year and some of the most violent and strongest tornados on record have came thru there at least once every 10 years. I guess its mandatory to have storm cellars there and if not they should be. I live in North Texas but we dont get em as often as they do. May 15, 2013 was r last big one F-3 but it didn't hit my part of town. This weather team is excellent props to them helping keep yall safe
dalejr183 5:15/10 was actually an EF 4
@@axelsoncarlaI knew it was in Granbury EF-4 but I thought it was an EF-3 when it got to Cleburne and hit my brothers house so the news said. I do know for sure and it was stronger when it was skinny because when it hit my brothers house by the lake(Cleburne Lake) the tornado grew too a mile wide and they were freaking out My brothers house the damage was fixable lol the insurance companies love a good disaster
In Moore OK it's now mandatory for all new homes to have a FEMA-approved storm shelter of safe room. Only place in the world with such a law, but it does not apply to existing homes.

@@KaileyB616yeah because Texas is fucking massive. Not really a surprise.

Can I have Chances job? Or just be his camera man? Let me know ((; DMs are always welcome (:
Funny how there is a tornado on the ground that’s doing damage and the reception was bad for a few seconds and they go back to the city. This is what happens to us down here in Wynnewood/Pauls Valley and all of us in south central Oklahoma. They tell us we are out of their viewing area 🙄 Then take the name Oklahoma out of your title. Tulsa has major news stations and OKC has 3. Down here in the southern part we have a station that is small with not as good systems and it’s not even on cable. Antenna type stations. Pretty crappy when we have tornadoes on the ground. But you know who is here first to cover the damage? Those 3 major stations. KOCO 5, News 9, KFOR 4. 🙄 Pisses us off truthfully.
I don't like the meteorologist saying f/Ef ratings like this however he seems to do a decently accurate job doing so.
I'm sure he does that because people are stupid and don't take the warnings seriously, but if they hear there's a potential EF4/EF5 coming their way, they're more likely to take cover. Just my theory 🤷🏻♀️
@@KaileyB616 perhaps, I'd suggest there might be better ways of doing so but as long as people take shelter that is the most important.
It's not an F4 F3 yes
It was confirmed as an ef4. The other was an ef3 because it didn’t directly hit a well built house.
This after my birthday... May 8
I was curious why he didn't really talk about what a tornado emergency is and to get in the basement!!!!!
I think its because a Tornado Emergency is issued when a tornado is gonna hit a highly populated area...
I would think you wouldn't NEED to be told. Just hearing it would be self-explanatory.
If you need to be told to get under ground or hide from a tornado...you might as well not live in tornado alley.
