lol right. No, you have to just mirror a scan the images that’s where you get the most flexibility. Lab scanners aren’t really the best to handle this specific film.
‘SHOOT MORE FILM’ .. (truck rolls by) .. Nicely done bro! 🤣 I laughed instantly when I saw that! ( also, amazing the inspiration a cowboy hat can provide ) I was there a month ago and it was 122 and every warning light on my car came on trying to warn me not to die. Thanks for the great videos!
I didn’t adapt that lens. I just was talking about it in the video. They do have those lenses though for Nikon mount. And I’m glad you like the photos.
How did you shoot the roll of phoenix? It looks like it performed betyer then in other circumstances i have seen. Did you shoot it at Boxspeed or pulled?
My cynical niece shoots the same cynical photographs, it's a mix of make america cynical again and instagram style. Of course she uses a cynical Pentax 17. She is more cynical than a youtube video.
I missed the BBQ on this trip, but I meant to tell you about a couple places, both off the 405, ‘Dr Hogly Wogly’s’ and ‘The Bear Pit’ .. 70 years at that location AND a killer Neon Sign ! Shot some Polaroid at it yesterday.
I've found Phoenix to be a PITA. Either it over or under exposes. shot with Bessa R/f1.7 35mm -- nothing wrong with its meter, either. A camera store chap told me it's really ISO 125, not 200. Also I'd love to know how it turned a golden sand beach red? I've one more roll left, and I'm going to shoot it through an OM4 or a Minolta XE, alongside a Sony A7ii as the benchmark. Sorry to say, if Phoenix drops a bollock again, it's the last time any kind of Harman film gets loaded in my cameras. Not a happy snapper here, with two rolls of professionally Phoenix negatives, fit only for the bin.
How are you scanning it? The scan is the most important part of the entire thing. It can really make or break your images. In my opinion mirror scan is the only way.
@@BadFlashes I am just judging based on the results I see on social media. But I would camera scan it (Fuji gfx100). It would probably look okay but I am a bit scared due to the low dynamic range of the film. :)
Suffering for the art, at least that’s what I tell myself until I get my scans back and they aren’t art and I just suffered for no reason.
Hahaha yep. Me 100% of the time 😂
Bad art is still art, at least that's what I've decided to tell myself
On point Nick Carver impression, very pro.
hahahah didn't even think about it that way
Glad the F3 is all better. Nice shots too, ATC.
It’s back at it 🥰
I really enjoyed this video mate, great job! Editing, music and the talking heads bits were cool. Overall a 9/10. 😊
Thanks a ton! 😍😍😍
That special effect on 6:49 is pure witchcraft!
Woah! That’s the best I’ve seen Phoenix do…so the trick is 110 heat & a rejuvenated F3HP. Who woulda thunk…😂

Love the extra special creativity with the commentary on this one!
Glad you enjoy it!
LOL love the Nick Carver style commentary! Also who repaired the F3? I have one that could go in for service.

yaaaay and thanks 😊
Love your videos man !!! Keep it going !!! The commentary is spectacular hahaha
aw thanks 😊
Well sometimes, you eat photography, and sometimes photography eats you.
Or something like this, I don't remember the Big Lebowski that well.
lol 😝
I love how you did a hat change going from the car to the Greek diner 😂
Hahahaha 🫡
For you! Bb
Pulling phoenix to like 65 iso and scanning it correctly sounds like the fricking plan…im kinda afraid yo shoot it at box tbh
Just rate it at 100 and call it a day
Love the phoenix pics. What adapter did you use to adapt your minolta albinar lens to your nikon?
I didn’t adapt that lens. I just was talking about it in the video. They do have those lenses though for Nikon mount. And I’m glad you like the photos.
Great video as usual man. But how bad was the sun burn? Looked hot.
It’s a good thing I use sunscreen 😝
@@BadFlashes and veins full of the whiskey from the previous night. 😃
0:03. 0:30 Only absolute nerds understand that the whole beginning segment is a thick Lord Huron reference❤
🤙🏼🥰😝
Love this!!
🥰🥰
How did you shoot the roll of phoenix? It looks like it performed betyer then in other circumstances i have seen. Did you shoot it at Boxspeed or pulled?
I usually shoot it at ISO 100. And I scanned myself with the mirror camera that’s probably the best and biggest difference
Tri-x looked really awesome. What it shot at box speed?
Yep :)
Thanks !!!
Love your work!
Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Ooooooo!!! Photography adventure time!!! Wooooop! 😅
You know it!
I've had real good luck with that Tamron 28mm. And I guess I'll have to shoot that roll of Phoenix I set aside a couple months ago. Thanks.
🙌🏼🦞
hawt (you, the heat, the camera, the vid)
Ohhh la la
I’ve meant to ask this question ever since I discovered you and the grainy-J…
where did you get your hat?
I’m not sure where Jason got his but mine’s a Stetson
Those phoenix shots are clean! Mine (and most I see online) looks nuked.
Your photos become better and better👍
Thanks 👍 😜
Jason popped up on my feed. Order has been restored. Let’s bang out this chicken shawarma double feature.
double double

This summer has been the worst for me as far as hot goes. Just has sucked in Georgia.
Oh my God, I totally bet
I have never seen phoenix look this good
🥰 thanks 🙏🏼

Hot bangers, 111 degrees and many F stops later.
Hahaha so true
Burning (literally) question: what is the official wide-brim hat of Team GrainyFlashes?
You mean the Mamiyamigos official headwear?
hahahahahahah
Well I Have a Stetson lol
I am wondering when the next version of Phoenix will be published. I am not yet a fan of it. 😅

Do you still prefer the F3 over the FA?
I do yeah. Feels a bit nicer
Picked up an FA this past spring in a yard sale... she's in good condition
Lol, get through that roll to get it developed, stat! Btw, are you too good to lie on the ground to get a shot? Asking for a friend
Haha what??????
❣💯😘 . . . Greetings from Cologne !
