I really do love Beatrice's style nowadays - it's fun, quirky, but with a certain amount of polish, and she finally looks comfortable in her own skin. Even where her choices clash, I think she carries it off as a deliberately eccentric choice rather than a mistake. I love seeing people finds themselves style-wise!

I agree, Ilona. A hat should be considered as part of the outfit, and therefore work harmoniously with all the parts thereof.

and I imagine that Anne wouldn't refer to it as "vintage" but just something she dug out from the back of her closet.

I live in the Southern United States and because of medical issues, I have begun wearing hats and using parasols. I need hats with brims that can be worn with several different outfits so I add decorations that can be swapped out.
My husband thinks I have way more hats than I really do!

I only wear a hat to keep the sun off my face . I hate wearing hats .
I’m in the northern Midwest of the US, and if it isn’t a baseball cap or something heavy and warm for our frigid winters, hat wearing isn’t “a thing” here (outside of a very few churches). I would love to play around with incorporating hats if it were more acceptable (although I have very short hair-less than a pixie cut, so I’m not sure much of anything would look right and anchoring would definitely be an issue).

Zara’s navy dress and green hat would have worked had she had a green bag x d green shoes. Her outfit looked just thrown together.
I love your look from the neck upwards but really think the hat would look so much better with a dress in either the chocolate brown or the red. The black just jars which is a shame when everything else is so perfect, even the lippy!

Hi Violet, I would recommend trying a boater style similar to Zara's choice. Beatrice's dress is similar in shape to the one Zara wore. 👒👗

Absolutely. Anne doesn't see the point of spending time and money on fashion and it was a good way to 'recycle' a dress. I thought the cream hat looked good. P.s. I hate that word recycle when applied to fashion, it implies that if you are rich enough wearing things once is fine. It's so not.
Sophies day 3 hat was beautiful, however, to make it work, she needed a dress more elaborate in style but more plain in pattern, perhaps ivory lace, with frills, but her handbag and shoes matching in colour to her hat, or at the very least one of the other two. That would have given the amazing detailed hat the attention and profile it deserved, but the entire set, from a distance, its difficult to know where to settle the eyes to.
Your outfit is delightful, but for an outdoor event in the sun a brim to shade your eyes is critical.
No outfit goes well with a squint and a headache.

The lady standing behind princess Beatriz is wearing a hat in a similar shade ,although the color of her dress differs. If I were to choose a darker hue for my own attire, would it complement this style? As an ardent follower and admirer of your channel from USA , who enjoys donning headwear all year round despite its relative unpopularity here- yet still receives compliments on them most times; albeit some might muster up enough courage to emulate. 😊

In my estimation. Queen Camilla’s black and white hat would have coordinated with her dress if she had worn a black broach on her dress.
If the color of the pansies coordinated with the colors of the small flowers in her dress, the outfit would have been stunning. The pansies simply didn’t match.

Hi, I have missed the previous videos by you due to life interfering. Congrats on all the subscribers. You really do deserve them all. I love all the hats you showed, though I think I've missed a lot of the other ones during Ascot. Ascot isn't a big thing over here at my part of the planet.
I would venture to say that hats are even more on the outs here, as the whole mother of the bride/groom is not at all a thing. Hat's are things you wear on your head, as to not get frostbite on your ears and loosing all your body heat through the top of your head (though this is a bit of a myth according to scientific research), during winter. The styling comes from the pattern you knit the hat from, and as I think I have might have alluded in past correspondence I find this state of affairs appalling, or at least a bit sad.
I'm still procrastinating over the issue of getting a hat block or a wig head like Anne (or both) and what to do about a brim block. I have scored a couple of beautiful capelins and some other goodies from Petersham, that are now sitting in boxes waiting for me to make my decision.
I'll see you in your next one, and I have yet to see the blocking and unblocking of the banana, so I might lurk around there. Yours, Ann
No one ever has accused the York sisters of good taste. They obviously take after their mother. Seems Beatrice is improving a little since her marriage.
I dont like the colors together. The hat is too light collered for the dress. The material on the hatis light and air the material of the dress looks a lot heaver 17:26

I hated the Green Hat which Kate wore with the Irish green dress. It was just too big and the brim could have been a bit smaller. I get the Idea of her being colonel or whatever of the Irish guard, but the hat was overwhelming, even for her height.

Queen Anne’s vintage suit, looked just what is is, OLD. Her blue hat did not match the blue of the hat. That was a MISS, in my view.

I dislike most of these dresses. The floral 80’s dresses are so modest and dowdy in my opinion. But i may be biased as I was in my 20’s in the 80’s and that was the style blah

I’m sorry, Ilona, the separate pieces of your outfit were pretty on their own, but the brown hat with the black dress is not attractive at all.
Beatrice needs to rethink her makeup. Her eyes always look dark and sunk in. Hair not that great either.
Disappointed more in your brown beanie ill fitting choice- rather than what others wore. Sadly some of your suggestions are not really anything other than your personal opinion. So , rating your outfit and hat it would be a fail for me when teamed with the black dress.

Hi, I hesitate to answer you as my policy is to never acknowledge people trolling. I'm going to make an exception in your case. This channel is still not huge and your voice won't be drowned out by everyone that are here because we are interested in hats. My advice to you is that before next time you want to troll, try research the topic of the channel before you comment, or you will just look just like you do now. A bit of an eejit, as another UA-camr I follow would call it.
What Ilona is wearing couldn't be called a beanie, even in the broadest sense. What she is wearing is clearly a pillbox. It's decorated with a veil in the same color as the straw, and a red vintage posey of what looks likely to be carnations. She even tells you this right here in the video, by the way.
Beanies are knitted, or sometimes maybe crocheted, and never stiffened. They are also made out of yarn and not straw. Yours, Ann
