Thanks for your reaction. This performance has an amazing backstory. The day before the recording session, Angelina's mom read the Amy Winehouse lyrics and told her daughter, that she couldn't sing them. Angelina went straight to work, writing completely new lyrics. The small orchestra had already practiced the music so the lyrics had to match the music. Angelina went to the recording session and needed just two takes to complete this video. Angelina was 10 years old. Angelina wrote in the description on the video on her Official channel, "So here it is, We recorded this yesterday with amazing orchestra KORK. My version of "Back to Black by Amy Winehouse" I had 1 day to change the lyrics, hope you like my version!"

I’ll get howled down if I get this wrong but I believe her mother forbid this child to sing lyrics that were clearly inappropriate so Angelina asked could she keep the booking if she rewrote the lyrics and rearrange the music? Ok said mum well she did it in a day kept the recording date and added this cover to one of her 200 plus performances on UA-cam. To say “she’s just a cover artist misses the point and would by definition put Pavarotti in the class of just another cover artist she is amazing. You might consider making one day each week an “Angelina” day. For example Angelina Fridays that way you get through your requests on an orderly fashion Angelina Fans who refer to themselves as “angels” will descend on your channel like a host of angels should. Thanks for your time in reacting to Angelina...while it is true there are those who take a negative stance on insignificant details in Angelina's life, it pales in comparison to her talent, performances, and her charitable nature. Once in a while I fire off a comment when someone acts stupidly. But I am 80 years old and do not suffer fools as much as I used to. Angelina stands alone in her quest to sing for the world...and she does so with a love of music and her devoted fans...what else is there?

Some commentors remark on how easy this song is, not a lot of range, etc. To the contrary, the timing and phrasing is incredibly challenging for an experienced professional, and Angeliina handles it with ease even though she rewrote the lyrics the night before and on the way to the studio. The musicians adored her. He was watching the National Treasure of Norway in her element. This is NOT meant as a joke. Her people declared her that when she was 8 years old. She was taken seriously by the musicians of Scandinavia, because of her instinct for music. Seriously, grown musicians, conductors with a lot of experience asked this girl for musical advice.

The viewer’s comment about Angelina doing cover songs is ridiculous. She is only 18 and began recording at age 8. What artist at that age started their careers by doing original material? Angelina has been writing songs since she was 10 and has said that she has written over 100. 12 of her own songs have been released to date and another debuted in her Las Vegas concerts. I’m sure future releases will be mostly if not all originals. In fact she has said that her next album will be all originals.
Artists like Elvis and Whitney didn’t write songs and did quite a few covers.

Her covering songs over the years was a benefit to her. Remember she received no real training in voice .. people had enough sense to keep their hands off of a prodigy. To me .. these years of covering sons was/in a school where she could try out different genera's ... copy the way someone sang .. then put her own spin on it. It was training!!

You will see the story behind this in the comments, 10 years old and re-writing the song in 1 day. She was at an amusement park with her friends (still a child) before this wonderful cover of an Amy song (one of her idols) with the Prestigious KORK (Norwegian Radio Orchestra), which in Norway is an Honor for any artist to be invited to perform with (this is the second time at 10 years old) Her Gershwin version of "Summertime" was with the full KORK orchestra at 10, and her performance at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony last year at 17. She has performed with nothing but top tier musicians since she was 7.....for good reason, it is their honor to perform with her IMHO. She has re-written the lyrics (mom ruled she was not to sing the original lyrics) .. must be in English since she is reading and singing the English lyrics. @@johndoe-gt6gp I knew Elvis and was one of his biggest vans! And you are correct! If he ever wrote a song, no one else every knew nor heard of it! Every song he ever recorded was either a cover or was written for him, All the songs in his movies were written by other people for the movie!
Same goes for many top artists, Michael Bublé, Frank Sinatra, the list goes on. Based on the manufactured pap that tops the Billboard chart I don't if that's company Angelina wants to be in.

Everyone learns from from copying. The problem arises when you are taught how something should be done. The only way you can grow is by self-directing and part of that is choosing from hopefully the best, what you wish or are able to emulate. From there, it is the willingness to experiment and be less than perfect and to fail. All learning and personnel growth is driven by being self-directed. As I stated, you learn some basics from copying and having the freedom to use it and expand upon it as you see fit. Hopefully you learn what works and what does not. Example: If you are going to write creatively one must learn the alphabet, language structure, basic things that go into writing about a person, event, etc, but how you do that is up to you and when you get good at using the basic writing formats---then you go your own way and even break a lot of the rules because you will understand when that adds to the writing and when it does not. The more "connected" you are, the better you will be at whatever you are doing.
Her family was wise enough to get her musical and some vocal training to protect her voice and leave the singing to her. To a certain degree, this is applicable to most things in life when you get down to it. If you look into the old writings it is well known that true learning is always self-directed. Otherwise, nothing new can ever be created.
