I have a 50 foot length heater. hl3-50-125p. As of right now it is too long, can i simply remove one of the 10ft sections from the total length to get it down to 40 feet?
You can remove one tube from this heater to make it a 40', however, you would need to add two internal baffle pieces when doing this. Your 50' heater has three baffle pieces and the 40' needs five. If you would like to order this, please give us a call at 586-776-2315. Just a side note if other people are reading this and wanting to change the length of their heater, not all heaters can have tubes added or removed. Please contact us for heater specific info. Thank you!

I have a roughly 70 foot long unit on a shop I just purchased I had to clean out the tube as birds made it their home. It has two sections of baffle is that correct?
Typically, a 70' long heater in a straight configuration, as opposed to a "U-tube" or an "L-tube" would take two pieces of baffle for a total of 66" of baffle. What is the model number of your heater and we can check what your specific heater needs.
Residential heaters have lower BTU ratings and are rated for use in garages attached to a house. Commerical heaters have higher BTU ratings and are only able to be used in commercial buildings (higher mounting heights) or buildings not attached to a home. Commercial heaters have 4" tubes with internal baffles and residential heaters have 3" and 4" baffled tubes.
You can use a flue brush to pull the soot out. They sell 4" brushes at Harbor Freight. Check that there are not blockages in the venting and verify the baffles are installed in the tubes. This will sometimes cause sooting.

The HL2 is Detroit Radiant brand so this would be the same type of install.
Great video. My unit works ok. But the fan is always running. It never stops. Do you have any ideas? Thanks
