I did what you said a few years ago. What a difference. I got the gsxr 1300 muffler. Works great with the Procycle mount. I have a extra 1300muffler I’m in Texas Dallas Ftw
Really taking a good look at the Dyno sheets: Massive improvement to the torque curve…. Beyond the overall improvement on area under the curve, the stock setup has that massive dive in torque at around 4500 rpm which is the rpm you’d probably be aiming for on the trail when you want the power to come on. So you probably really feel that lack of power right when you want the bike to accelerate. The modded setup has a much nicer rounded hill with the peak torque lining up nicely with the off road getup and go RPM of 4-5k rpm
Once the snow starts melting, hoping for April, we'll be able to start the mods too! Great video and it's nice not having to repack the gsxr pipe like the after market ones.
+BBQ Rider did you get the smaller lighter 40, bbq rider? i've got the 35 and while a bit louder she's definitely way quieter than any aftermarket pipe. makes me wonder if someone modded your gixxer can?
ADVENTURE OZ I actually have no idea which one is on mine. It doesn't seem to have any relocated brackets or anything, so if there is one that bolts straight on, it should be that one. I bought the bike like this, with the stock anchor...erm.."exhaust" as a spare part

Wow! Your friend Gordon (technically, shouldn't that be "Gordo" in the Australian language? Or does it remain "Gordon" because he's Canadian, Eh? Or is that Hey? that is some great work on the pipe, but I think most people don't have the skills to weld like that or have the tools readily available :-( For me it would probably work out cheaper in the long run to get a Staintune pipe as I wouldn't have to pay for someone to do all the extra work needed. I tell you what though, this makes me want to learn how to weld better though ;-)
+Andy Pandy Motovlogs true andy, many will find just buying stuff easier.... but gordon did point out most guys will know someone with good welding skills who will probably enjoy the challenge and the carton of beer you'll present him with if it all works. :)
I don't even want a DR650, but this series is interesting if the off chance I happen to adopt one. That exhaust mod makes a lot of sense. Is it relatively cheaper than aftermarket or close to the same after everything is said and done?
+Gnarlington it all depends on whether you buy a mid-pipe or make your own, and which GSXR muffler you are after. e.g. a mid-pipe is US$185 from procycle or you can weld up your own with around $50 in stainless steel parts. the GSXR mufflers can vary from $20 to $100 depending on whether you get the common #25 or the quite rare titanium #40. so it's not necessarily cheaper but i think it's the way to go if you don't want that loud exhaust note.
Gday Adventure Oz, great series, it's very informative! I've been looking around for a GSXR pipe, and have found a few stamped x35f1x. Is this the same pipe as the x35f01? Regards Sarath.
@Adventure Oz. I've finally got around to finishing the bst and exhaust mods to my DR. I managed to pick up a very cheap gsxr exhaust and I must say it sounds awesome, and the improvement in performance is noticeable. The only downside is that I've list 20km of fuel range around town. Though in all honesty this may be due to riding a little quicker....
