Two legends! I was a caller on Tom Snyder's Friday, September 20th, 1996 Late, Late Show. Made Tom laugh! -Chance Bartels Atlanta, GA
Excellent!
I started watching Tom during the summers when my parents were away. He cemented my night owl status.
Tom Snyder is the most underrated late night talk show host. he’s in my top 5
I loved Snyders Late Late show back in the 90s. Everyone seemed to have forgotten it but me. I remember the commercial promos he'd have during the afternoon on tv
Canceling all of tonight's plans in order to watch this on the biggest screen I can find. Thanks, Don.
Dave and T.S. were the very best two hours of Late Night Television in the mid to late 1990's. I have often wondered why David did not appear on "The Late Late Show" after 1997. Did he and Tom have a falling out? Great segments. Thanks for sharing.
Synder was the very 1st Late nite to have KISS on and how Memorable was that Interview ey !!😁👍🏻👍🏻
OMG, Snyder and Larry King and "Elliot" was gold.
Do go see the rest of those as linked in the description by Don
That Elliot ... the voice ... so familiar ... Was it ... Tom Brokaw?
Still missing any late-night Tom Snyder.
Snyder content’s always appreciated-Happy New Year, Don!
“His hair is back. He’s ready to go.”
😅
"Is Dick Cavett tied up?"
Thank you, Don! I always have appreciated your hard work. Such a treat to hop in the time machine with you! 😃
Giller, you are the Killer! Killing us all with some of the greatest clips of all times. Was a Dave fan since I got sick as a grade schooler. Then he disappeared. Till late night. If I had to choose 5 favorites, Johnny, Dave, Conan, Ferguson, and pulling up a weak fifth, is aww crap, going old school with Parr. All the best. 2024 is what we needed in 2020. God bless.
Tom Snyder's an excellent interviewer, and everyone knows why. When David Letterman decided to bring Tom over to CBS, everyone applauded him. That made Dave an amazing man.
I simply cannot thank you enough for posting this! Dave’s off center sense of humor included - these were masters of their craft. And it really goes to show that you don’t have to be the same type to appreciate real talent. Tom & Dave’s styles were absolutely different - but Dave especially saw the genius that was Tom Synder finding fascinating conversation - sometimes seemingly plucking it out of thin air. And unlike Carson, Dave saw Tom Synder as a brilliant, intellectual and sometimes just plain charming, compliment to his own show. I watched The Late Late Show all while I was in high school - and seeing Tom Synder in top form again fills me with joy and just a little bit of sadness realizing this type of late night persona is gone forever.
God, how I miss this guy and the format of the show. Just two people talking.
Thank you for this vid too (I loved the Bonnie Hunt on Letterman anthologies)! I have chills being brought back to sitting in my house as a teen watching Letterman and Snyder (on the nights I stayed up extra late). I remember how excited I was when Letterman was on Snyder so I could learn more about him.
Thanx for posting this, really enjoyed it, Tom Snyder was such a regular dude.
3:33 time in & just seamless, flawless editing:)Happy New Year's Wishes to the Curator of Curators....:)..
one of Tom's first broadcasting jobs was right here in Kalamazoo Michigan. The crappy little restaurant next to the station Mr. Snyder complained about on air is still there somehow
Which restaurant? I can't think of a place in K'zoo that's that old.
thank you Don! Hope ya keep doing this!
Brilliant video....thanks so much for posting it!!
And Snyder was so amazing, I think I'm gonna order Prodigy!
My first exposure to Snyder as a kid was Joe Piscopo's impersonation on SNL. It was hard to shake that first impression.
Aykroyd’s was the best by far..
This was a fantastic time in my life. Thank you for posting
Thanks for uploading this Don. I really enjoyed watching this while giving myself a physical... Cough!
Wake up babe, Don Giller just posted a new video!
Thank you Don!!!
I love him telling larry he doesn't use a earpiece cause he doesn't need or want it :)
YES - I love TS! Thanks for this, Don 💕💕💕
Thanks for this, Don! Fascinated by Tom's approach to the show, and I enjoyed the tech chat between him and Larry as well lol
Don puts out a video, I click and watch. Them's the rules.
This is fantastic, Don. Thanks so much for putting it together.
Thank you, Ken!
Always here for these TS LLS uploads. Thx Don!
Blurry as they may be, I can actually spot Blackadder VHS tapes on Dave's shelf in the 1997 interview. I wonder what else is there.
"Is Merv Griffin dead?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Really enjoying this, thanks as ever Don!
“I can’t tell ya.”
Besides Tom Snyder, I have ALWAYS loved the fact that his show music intro has always been saxaphone jazz. I miss this show so very much.
Written and performed by the late, great David Sanborn.
Hi, love these posts. Are these songs available on David Sanborns albums or anywhere? I have searched for years. This music is so healing and beautiful. I knew it was David Sanborn because I am still a fan of his signature style. RIP. A reply from you would be greatly appreciated. 🙏❤
@@gstockwell5315 I’m relatively sure that the music was especially composed for the show - the various takes are pretty short - the show intro, an interlude between commercial breaks, and a longer one during the Friday night full credits - and so they likely wouldn’t be available on any commercial release.
Thanks for this, Don
Excellent compilation Don. Happy New Year!!
So excited to watch this! The Donz Rulez!
Snyder was the class and intellect of broadcasting for many years. His character is missed these days.
What a lovely conversation between 2 chat show legends
It's been a while, so I think it's time again for another marathon immersion experience of Tom on youtube ! I love the guy
Hey Donz, I love all the add ins. But Dave’s call ins to the CNBC show were epic
Great compilation Don, superb and a godsend as usual
Thanks!!
Tom's interview with Kiss from 1979 is a must watch.
Ace Frehley has more personality than the other three combined.
And I just learned this weekend that Dave’s longtime drummer Anton Fig played on Ace’s solo album!
He also played on Dynasty.@@winonafrog
Hilarious show - I wish I had watched it when it came out!
I miss late night shows like Tom's, more of a conversation usually with just one person and not just a line-up celeb's giving a five minute sales pitch for whatever their latest project was; you got more of a sense of what the person was really like - good or bad. Tom, Dick Cavett, and most of all....Les Crane.
Thanks....great choice......as usual.
agreed ;)
First time that I saw TOM SNYDER, he was an actor in the late ‘50’s on…
THE RIFLEMAN.
1961 December 25.
@@dongiller , early ‘60’s then..
Did he go by TOM OR THOMAS SNYDER?.. I have forgotten..and it was aired originally
XMAS DAY.
Well I’ll be a primate’s dad’s brother!
My manz Donz is back with those WWP rares 🔥
tom snyder was like "NBC Radio Mystery Theater" a part of my young life. I'll always be a fan.
CBS RADIO MYSTERY THEATRE..not NBC.
E.G. MARSHALL was the host.
This is what UTUBE is missing.
Professionalism like TOM & LARRY😎✌
I got on air three times with questions…Della Reese, Pierre Salinger and I honestly cannot remember who the other guest was. But for the Salinger spot, I began calling in before the show began. I was asked if I wouldn’t mind helping out with an audio check on before the show began and of course I said yes. I was asked to say the alphabet a couple times 😂 that’s all.
Excellent
Ehhh .... I missed the number at the end for the Prodigy special deal ... anyone tape it?
Hello Don. Do you know where I can find Mandy Patinkin interrupting the show and singing "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?"(with Tony Randall as his "manager", of course.)? I suddenly can't find it anywhere on UA-cam. Such a shame!
Gold gold gold gold gold.
And there's a common thread and it seems to tie all of what I perceive to be the greats: intelligence. High intelligence. Dave, 100% and as fast on the draw as Steve Allen. Shandling - true genius. Larry King, certainly. Snyder? Yes, if you unwind the common sentiment formed by Akroyd (genius move by Dan though)!
1:10:25 I'm not sure who Dave is doing. Johnny?
Anyway, the Merv followup by Tom, wuh-wow.
(It really was Merv, and not more Mike Douglas, right? Or for that matter, Donahue?)
I would pay "good money" to have *all* of the CBS Late Late shows of Tom's. I'm in my late 60's & have never been aware of *any*one more "consummate" than was Mr. Snyder... straight up.
Don, I know you're 'on the inside' with WWP now, but if your schedule permits I'm sure your audience would love to see more TLLS content from all three host eras during its WWP ownership. Tom Snyder was truly a treasure, Craig Ferguson always was entertaining; and while he may not have been everyone's favorite cup of tea, the amount of TLLS with Craig Kilborn content is remarkably little given his five years behind the desk. If you documented/kept those to even 1/10th the level you did LSwDL? I for one would enjoy seeing more of it.
I loved Scottish Conan Guy and taped all of his shows as well as Kilborn’s, which didn’t grab me as much.
But I’ve digitized none of them (except for that small tribute to Grant Imahara).
Also, I’d need permission. This latest upload came about from circumstances I can’t really talk about, but it was a special agreement. I doubt the same would apply to Kilborn and Ferguson.
@@dongiller Well Don, if you can get the permission via WWP? I think I might be able to handle digitization. My recently deceased FIL had a business in which he converted VHS content to digital, and I wouldn't mind doing the grunt work on something like that at all for you.
@@mactheknife7049 Thanks for the offer, but I prefer this to continue to be a one-person operation.
I appreciate Tom's decision to host the Late Late Show without him we wouldn't have Craig Kilborn and, Craig Ferguson.
Thanks for posting! (9K views is not too shabby! #tomwho
I liked Tom S, I liked Dan A's imitation even more!
The future can now see how important the "Art of Conversation " is crucial. Otherwise the idiots take over with anger and diversion. I miss Tom Snyder, fair abd balanced and never competed with his guests.
I miss Tom
PRODIGY!!!! My friend’s dad had this on his computer.
Elliot = Hunter Thompson?
Dave. I uploaded Dave’s Prank Calls to Tom Snyder collection. Link is in the description that no one reads.
DL
Thanks for interrupting that slug Larry King. Way to go Dave
Whatever you do, don’t call 1-800-PRODIGY
