I know it’s a horror movie but this movie actually gives a strong message about Christmas. It shows that the happiness of Christmas is overshadowed by stuff like this and by fighting families. It’s to show that people should be happier with each other

It had me laughing right from the first few seconds. Perfect first impression. It's funny, but the contrast between the warm, nostalgic song and the viciousness of the shoppers is also relevant to the moral of the story.
This opening is just perfect for the movie. Krampus only came to those that lost the true Christmas spirit and meaning of the holiday. The people in this scene perfectly sum up why Krampus does his job.

As disturbing as the content might be, the scene as a whole is still downright funny.
The scariest part of this movie is this. You think this is exaggerated for the movie. Nope, it’s pretty much an honest interpretation of what really happens.

Honestly I love that a later scene basically subtly tells you that all these people were also attacked by Krampus. In the scene, you see all the house lights go out except for the main characters house, which also goes dark after a few seconds. Im pretty sure that this mean that Max's family was the last one to be attacked.
I wonder if Krampus' game ends the same, with everything going back to normal. Maybe not for those who did not learn a thing, even after a bloody carnage.

I think what this movie is trying to say is that our sour attitudes ruin the holidays and us as human beings. Basically it is showing that we have turned the holidays into a channel for our indulgence in averice, materialism, ego, and anything else that takes away the good meaning of the holiday. Hence the allegory of the Krampus who hunts down people who lost the Christmas spirit; he is a symbol for the cancerous beast we create in ourselves when we are bitter. Eventually we get so lost in our horrendous ways that we begin to think we are living a proper life, but are living in our glass bubble being held by our own monster, which is what I think the ending was expressing. I may be looking into to this movie too much lol
Well it doesn’t to me. I’m a believer in second chances and so should Krampus. After all, these are all human beings who, while they may of done a lot of stupid crap, still have some piece of goodness in them. Maybe just a scrap but something at least. Krampus is just so simple minded that he thinks that anyone who’s on the naughty list on ONE year is naughty to the core. That is not true! That’s why I like Polar Express and Christmas Carol, because they are stories of redemption where the main character has lost the Christmas spirit, just like these people, but they were a second chance to try again.

AVGN really did bring out important facts of how Christmas is such a glutton of a holiday thats just devouring everything around it. I even started seeing christmas decoration earlier than thanksgiving. Not too mention, of how its now a holiday of storming stores to trample upon everyone for your favorite stuff on a crowded stampede just hammer the point home even more. But regardless of that, this introduction scene is really funny. I loved it alot and never failed to put a smile on my face.

As a retail worker, I’ve never felt more heard by a movie.
Perfect depiction of how commercialization has ruined Christmas, most people today don't even know what the real meaning of Christmas is, that go's for Halloween too.
And this is why I don’t shop on Black Friday. No trinket is worth a bloodbath. Just spend time with the family. Yes, there are still presents, but it’s not the end of the world if there’s one thing you don’t get.
As funny as this is, it's sadly very close to our reality. Christmas has become VERY commercialized and I like how this movie showed that very clearly in the first minute or so.
