From what Questron said about where sombra plays (23:04) and seeing he fight in the workshop mode it seems like she is not backline, not sidelines and not front lining either, is sound like she is somewhat of a "middleline" now. Like she gets into the enemy team, not facing them face on nor attacking from behind, just attacking from the middle of them? Not sure that makes sense but it was the feeling I got.
in all fairness, the custom gamemode isn't extremely polished and I barely have practice against real people!
So I’m one of those bronze Sombra mains (well, that’s a hyperbole) that plays ultra-flank , healthpack heavy, but honestly, I’m not as mad about this after watching gameplay. I’ve been trying to play Sombra more aggressively as of late and this only reinforces that change I’ve been trying to implement. Now I have to do it, I don’t have an excuse. It’ll be a learning curve, but I think I can pull it off.

Teleport into ult should “dial up” like mortal kombat combos do.
In mk if u input your combo like triangle>square>triangle then you do one of the special moves immediately after the input string, instead of waiting for the timing after the orginal input string is outputed the special will fluently output as well.
Hense “dial up” your input
How this could work for sombra is you use translocator and in the down time of the TP animation you would have 3 options
1, do nothing during tp and output invis after teleport
2, Press ult cast button during to tp and output ult after teleport
3, hold down fire button during tp and output shooting after Teleport
Probably look up mortal kombat dial up for a better explanation
But also there’s something similar called active input where this might fall into

I love your perspective, questron! i really appreciate that you shared it and that you've dared to be positive about something that a lot of people are ambivalent towards (and many are preemptively outright against lol). don't get me wrong, everyone can and should form their own opinion, but people haven't even given themselves an opportunity to form that opinion. i hope this video will help people keep a slightly open mind.

The new way translocator works will remove your ability to do the “bungee jumping” technique you’ve mentioned in a past video. (Haha, I said it too soon, you mentioned that in the video)
nope, now you dont even need a place to teleport to! the reason you'd put the translocator down before jumping is because of the travel time of the translocator being slow. Now, you can just chuck that thing straight up at any point in time lmao

The fact that they say virus deals double dmg on hacked targets but it's only double impact dmg is so misleading
apparently in a very early iteration the whole virus did double damage, but they chose against it pretty close to what is now the finalized build for her so it was a whoopsie. Thank god lmao

Can I still throw the translocator to get to higher ground to one v one a player?
I ask cause I have two play styles depending on the supports, if my supports are ignoring me I play by health pack but if my supports are good, I play by throwing my translocator around and staying by my team
It’s essentially just a mobility option now, throw it wherever

in the preview build ive been toying around in, virus does 90 damage instead of 100-- they buffed her for season 7

The problem with this rework imo is it forces a certain play style. I liked her for her flexibility.
that was my initial flinch reaction too. In the very first conversation I had with the devs i went on a 10 minute rant about how the translocator created options that the person playing Sombra uses to express how they view Overwatch-- and how to win a game in it their own way. Different playstyles were formed around the translocator.
I wouldn't dismiss caution, but give it a shot-- it aint THAT bad.

Same. I was already learning the older sombra and now I have to practice her all over again. The new rework actually FORCES you to stay with your team longer and keep shooting and hacking. Lol and the funny thing is I saw somebody else today trying to play her the old way. They were trying to solo their way in to the enemy’s team all by themselves just to hack them and get at least 1 kill… and surprised, they kept getting killed instantly by the whole team… I think they forget the new sombra has a different play style now. You really can’t go solo now with her and expect to get an easy way out of there, if you don’t have your team by your side and specially supports healing you. With the new rework, you have to rely mostly on supports to heal you. That’s why I miss the old sombra, because she kinda just did her own thing and was fun.
So the main question I have is what happens when you push the payload? Do you just go invis and can't push anymore? And then you'll have to shoot to not get invis or what
invis goes on a timer if you're not in stealth, if you're in stealth you stay stealthed

nope, and that's a good thing imo-- everything is more purposeful now.

Is the rework good? Yes. But it’s the worst way they could have done it. But it’s neato.

I think what he means is the direction they went with the rework (giving her more damage), is what he likes. And they also made his play style with sombra stronger so it's a buff in that way too.
I think what he doesn't like is it's clunky because of passive invis and translocator being out of your control. It's also probably because it seems they could've gone further with the changes but didn't to "preserve the hacker fantasy" or whatever so they fit in everything from old sombra.

the better way of phrasing it is-- they tackled the correct problems in a way I'd sort of disagree with. But the problems are still tackled.

yep! hack is now just something you have a specific purpose for. On live you just kinda always hack because you HAVE to always hack, I personally like this change
Let’s say your playing control, and there’s a healthpack that a coach tells you to hack because it could “help your team and keep the enemy team from using it” is that still a thing is questron play style sombra players should do

Hey questron im back, after a month break from ow im back and im kinda slow so imma need ur opinion, skill: did it go up or down?, Hack: does it still have the same like 0.5 sec wo using abilities or isit changed? And Invis: do you think it's going to be easier or harder to get around since now theres a ring?. I understand if you can't answer since I saw a short clip but just wanted you're insight on some stuff. Hope u been having a good day lad 👍
Is it still possible to reach very high higrounds like eichenwald 2nd point with translocator? That's what worries me the most considering that allowed to continue the attack from a different angle
If the travel speed is 72m/s and it auto teleports after 0.25 seconds then thats like a lil under 20 meters, so it definitely will.
the translocator is the only worry for me. Anyone with a movement ability would just chase you. And since it is automatic, you can't try to bait them info thinking you are teleporting when actually you have other plans. Also I can see trying to throw it above me only to hit a railing and failing my jump...this will happen multiple times. Kinda wish they just had a timer (8 seconds?) where you couldn't just keep the trans down forever.
I think translocator isn't going to be as big of an issue as it seems on paper. throwing it over walls and around corners is definitely going to be the ideal way to use it.
I just hope that now it takes more skill from the player who switched to Sombra to counter my Doomfist
Im a casual player, i just want to have fun and Im sick of seeing people swap to Sombra on quickplay to counter me and always have that easy "get out of jail card" and they never die
after you throw tp to emp, would it be less of a delay if u shoot as eu tp to prevent going into stealth?
going into stealth and out of stealth is both faster in the actual rework + going into stealth can instantly be interrupted apparently-- this build is solely meant to 'visualize' what the rework could be.
i meant hypothetically the build that's gonna go live if they by any chance fail to find a fix to the delay before you can emp bc of passive having higer priority to kick in@@Questron01

I feel like to avoid accidentally auto stealthing when I don't mean to, I'm gonna have to develop a habit of meleeing nothing just to delay the invisible timer. Excited to see how you adopt the new Sombra, it's because of you I found a dps I didn't totally suck at while still having fun.
I didnt catch how long they were going to be hacked for the first time i saw the rework. If its just as long, hacking, plague, shooting is all going to be too much for the hack time. Youll have hack time, then toss your block and hack is done.

I'd still prefer that translocator had a 4 second uptime so you can choose when to tp. Same with stealth (maybe make it weapon swap? Idk). I dont like those two abilities rework ideas just being "take away player agency lmao". But we'll see

Ya rework is so good you got rickrolled by Frogger. That game was embarrassing to see from the infamous Questron. You literally got trolled and rolled by Frogger. And here is what Frogger had to say about the rework while fighting you.
Frogger, "It is way easier to 1v1 Sombra now." Also Frogger, "It is not even scary to be hacked anymore." Also Frogger, "OMG this character is so great to 1v1 now. No more of that boring TP out and then reset..."

@@Questron01 Did I stutter? Go look at Frogger's videos, you are showcased in one of them, and those are the comments he made while fighting you. For the record I'm an 860 hour sombra main, and I am against the rework, for all the reasons Frogger stated. This rework was nothing but a nerf of convenience for everyone else. And it is now showing, not just in lower ranks but obviously top 100 as well. But of course I'm a nobody sombra main in lower ranks, so what do I know, its not like I haven't played OW1 and 2 for the last 7 years that I can't see power creep with other characters because of this rework in addition to a faulty kit design that is forcing Sombra into a situation other characters are better at contending with.
@@Questron01 Ultimately if you want this rework to actually work. Hack should no longer be interrupted by damage, and Virus should be an AOE with splash damage effect that spreads virus to multiple characters within a given range. Also, Translocate is a forced skill now, but it is not considered a projectile? Why? If you are CC'd while translocate is in transit it disappears. No, it should make sombra immune to CC in such cases. Like an i-frame that only lasts 0.25 seconds. No? Why not? We already cannot hack monkey's shield while it is in transit, nor McCC's Grenade, or ana sleep, or ana nade, or any other projectile that does not disappear if they are CC'd while in transit.
NOW Sombra has something in her kit that people should fear. And it fixes power creep of other characters at the same time. And it still caters to your playstyle.

@@Questron01 I enjoy playing a distraction playstyle and making enemies hunt down trans to create space for my team.
So glad she's still going to be a hard solo counter for Ball. At least she can't run away as consistently, but she still makes it near impossible to play Hammond. Nothing but a game of counter picking, people she be locked into their heros at the match start at least.

why is fitzy below 51% win percentage on sombra, if the sombra rework is better? looks like the same reason why you had to postpone the unranked to gm sombra 😂
My main account has an 84% winrate with 15 games played, I postponed it cause there was no way it was gonna be edited down in time before leaving for a week and a half to twitchcon

@@Questron01 15 games isn’t long enough to say sombra is in a good state. fitzy has 50% win percentage after 235 games, over 10 times as much as you’ve played. your positive winrate is the result of you playing for a few hours the day the rework came out, but now its been over a week and people (top500/gm) have the reaction time to punish and peel all sombra engagements. inb4 you continue playing on your alt accounts and barely play any games on your main to keep your winrate high.

I’m not gonna lie I’ve tried for a while to play the questron sombra cuz it’s always seemed more fun and how I wanted sombra to be, unfortunately I’m not that good so it’s been a tough learning process but I’ve been getting better, I’m excited for new sombra to really highlight that playstyle!

yeah but all that type of meta-gaming outplaying was a symptom of the larger issue-- that sombra doesnt really have a solid foundation which she impacts the game with

lol my first though looking at the new kit was "Questron is about to eat good".
Also whoever made that gamemode is GOATed. That allowed a pretty good visualisation. I was sceptical of not being able to manually activate/destroy the translocator, but that looks smooth enough to handle distance and timing.

Dude this rework killed the character for me. I was really starting to find my stride with sombra and it was actually some of the most fun i had ever had with a character.
There was no experience like being very dangerous if the enemy team made a small mistake, and pestering the supports or any stragglers until they crumble. Which is now going to be gone because stealth cant be activated immediately.
And using translocator in combat to head fake people to look at where you are throwing it. Just so you can invis while they look away and just keep doing what you're doing. Also gone. It felt great and now its just completely different. Its not fun anymore.

I’ll admit I was initially very mad especially after doing the math on the timing of some things but that being said I’m a Questron play style sombra through and through so if you’re confident she will not only be still relevant but extremely good I’m willing to put my faith in you man! It hasn’t steered me wrong yet. I hope to climb up to where you’re at someday to fight you it’d be a fun time

stealth pauses for emotes, if you're in stealth you'd unstealth for an emote
