If you had told me in 2016 that one day Mastered UI Goku will be fighting Gohan Blanco (that's based on SS2) on Beerus's planet right after Gohan makes easy work of Super Saiyan Trunks and Goten, I would say that's surely fan fiction but here we are. I am, however, happy that we're here and maybe we're finally done with the "oh Gohan stopped training again" cycle. I'm glad that Piccolo got a mention. Otherwise, solid chapter.
Edit: I think it is great that Ultimate Gohan is now official and named by Goten.

This one turned out to be a fun chapter.
Vegeta facepalm in disappointment at the kids was hilarious, he realized that he should be more involved in Trunks life.
I'm completely believe that Piccolo a master of meditation, his help would be extremely beneficial for Broly to learn how to control his power.

I feel like they are setting up for Gotenks to make a proper return. Maybe going with the rule of three, especially given how they specifically mentioned that Goten and Trunks had been training their fusion dance.
I wouldn't bet on it - thinking about all the times Buu fell asleep haha
@@eddemirer4776technically Buu falling asleep followed the same structure, with being a big aspect of the Moro Arc at least for a bit
Something that crossed my mind when they started filming the first fight is the possibility they try to use it for slander. Not only trunks/goten as super heroes fighting Gohan, but also has their true identities. Probably won’t in fear for their lives tho.
Pros:
- Gohan vs. Goten & Trunks
- When Goten revealed the name "Ultimate Gohan" to Gohan, he didn't like it. That actually got me laughing. To be honest, I prefer Mystic Gohan.
- For the first time, Gohan actually won in his "Mystic" form. Looking back, I don't think he never got a victory in his Mystic form.
- Goku (Ultra Instinct) vs. Gohan (Beast form)
- The fight and choreography in each panel are, without a doubt, impressive. Now I'm to see more.
Con:
- While their fighting moves are impressive, Goten and Trunks still act like total buffoons (and Vegeta knows it).
Verdict: To my surprise, this is the best chapter from Dragon Ball Super I've read in a long while. Here's hoping this new arc doesn't go downhill.

Gohan beat Super Buu in Ultimate. Buutenks was an entirely different fight. He also basically or was going to beat Gamma 1, and he got wins during the ToP anime multiple times. Kefla was a draw in the manga, at least.
Also, they are kids, and they never had proper training after Buu saga. This might be the time for Goten and Trunks to get it.
man i sure hope they give piccolo more attention after this heck I'd be down to see him finally have a sparring match with Vegeta (tfs fans you know what I mean)
I feel like they could've included Gotenks for real if Gohan went to show how truly the power gap between them has become by going Beast and one-shotting him at base or SSJ. We know Gotenks is powerful but Gohan was stronger than even SSJ3 him when he was in Ultimate. I just wanna see Gotenks be serious again. Well, "serious."

@TheLoki1983 Ultimate Gohan was stronger than SS3 they confirmed that long ago. SS3 Gotenks was relative to Super Buu and Ultimate Gohan dog walks Super Buu
Ultimate Gohan is like low level blue level now, even if Goten and Trunks are stronger now, Gotenks couldn’t win against Ultimate Gohan. I think they need to train more and then we could get that fight
Red Ribbon could get research on the Gods, God Ki, the angels.... All that transporter needs is some kind of receiver or camera attached to it.... They could easily do something with that little chestnut of Goku bringing the red ribbon goons to Beerus' planet!
Good chapter I just hope they bring Piccolo into the fold too. Goku vs Gohan is pretty cool. Did not expect Goten and Trunks too have some shine.
I predict next chapter Beerus will interupt the fight next chapter.

This does almost everything I want a DB chapter to do, having the "appetizer" fight with Goten and Trunks vs Gohan is something I'm genuinely surprised we never really got in the original manga.

love the way the beast transformation was done, like gohan had to lose a little control in order to do it again, and on one hand, failed gotenks kinda sucks, on the other, a chance for goten to do something separate from present trunks and not solely exist to fuse with him?? i wonder

I thought about this after reading the chapter. Vegeta and Gohan have caught up to Goku without the use of a hypersonic lion tamer. Sure Vegeta trained with Berus and on yardrat but Goku trained with Whis, and Merus in a time chamber and Gohan literally just locked in. I don’t mind it
I confess that the panel showing Gohan and Trunks trading blows, gave me Future Trunks and Future Gohan training vibes, which I think was a nice nod to DBZ past arcs and character relations. Also, couldn't help but to imagine Gohan training Trunks and Goten to become Earth's protectors, as they share the same motivation for getting stronger and would be great having them on the spotlight once again.
As a long-time reader/watcher of dragon ball Z and super, I don't find the last chapters and the teenage drama a bad thing. DBZ world is complex and rich, with a bunch of characters that need proper development. And the slow pacing of the chapters dealing with Goten, Trunks, Gohan, Picollo and others, in my opinion, was just a backdraft from years with roughtly just Goku and Vegeta on the spotlight due to absurdly increasing power levels (also the monthly release significantly slows things down, Boruto suffers from the same problem).
I had a lot of fun reading this manga. Loved it

I feel like Goten has just been used for the "failed fusion" gag lately, on one hand i'm kind of happy with that as I'm hoping this means we get to see Goten and Trunks actually having to fight without relying on the fusion (It felt like every fight they were fusing instead of trying to fight solo first/tag teaming their opponent)
On the other hand, I hope this isn't just how fusions are going to be from now on. Where they'll be for the gag and the characters wont want to use it with how unreliant it is they can do it during a fight properly
Gohan casually tossing his glasses makes me upset. I just bought a new pair, and even though most of it was covered, replacements aren't free

My theory on the constant failed fusions is that not only do they not have an adult gotenks design, the writers don't really know how they would scale him. His highest transformation is SSj3 which burns his power way too fast, He has to be strong because he's a fusion but not tooooo strong beecause him catching up with the rest of the saiyans would be too awkward. I think its more or less the same reason why they keep avoiding using buu because making him weak is weird but he should definitely be falling behind at this point.
Absolutely loved this chapter and loving this arc so far. Glad we’re getting different dynamics and interactions in this arc, love Broly’s progression and the homage to Future Trunks and Future Gohan, love that Goten and Trunks are the ones that came up with the name “Utimate” for Gohan’s potential unleashed state, and despite them using fat Gotenks again, I’m very happy Goten and Trunks are training again, training on Beerus’s planet, are getting more shine, and are involved in this arc.
I do feel Goten and Trunks are actually gonna truly progress more in this arc, definitely feel they’re gonna advance and expand their training as well as get new forms, I feel they’re gonna get much more motivated to evolve themselves and their potential, and I do feel the real Teen Gotenks is being saved for something else in this arc.
Also Carmine and his henchman are recording the fights and different levels of power on Beerus’s planet, so I feel that will lead to something, hopefully it leads to Android 21 being introduced in the manga and serving as the main villain as well as her making new way more powerful Androids who serve as side and supporting villains of the arc. Also I definitely look forward to Goten and Trunks hopefully getting properly trained and mentored by Goku, Vegeta, Whis, and Gohan.
I do hope Goten and Trunks do follow the God Ki route and get Ssj God in this arc ether from participating in the Ssj God ritual and do extended advanced God ki training along with them hopefully developing their own unique enhanced versions of Ssj God or do God Ki training first and training like Vegeta did under their dads and Whis, train both in Whis’s staff and in the HTC, get Ssj2 during their training, and then get God Ki, but they have trouble achieving Ssj God cause they don’t have total control over God Ki so then they continue their training with Gohan on earth, train under both Gohan and Gamma 1, they also work on proper ki Control training while improving their control with God Ki, they hopefully develop an enhanced Ssj2 form, and then later achieve Ssj God or hopefully apply God Ki and Ssj God to the enhanced Ssj2 form they might possibly develop to achieve an enhanced Ssj2 version of Ssj God. However if they don’t get God Ki in this arc, I do hope this arc sets Goten and Trunks up to follow the God Ki route in the future and Goten and Trunks in this arc do advanced proper training and get Ssj2, Ssj3 individually without fusion, and also hopefully develop enhanced way more powerful versions of Ssj2 and Ssj3 as a way to prepare for the God Ki route.
I also hope Goten and Trunks in this arc do Spirit Control training as well to evolve themselves, become way more powerful, and because I feel Spirit Control would allow Goten and Trunks to unlock the true power of their S Cells, unlock more of their potential, feel it would allow them to enhance, master, and evolve any forms, and I feel Spirit Control would allow Goten and Trunks to also develop their own Special Spiritual Saiyan Hybrid ability, power, and form, maybe like a different of Ssj Rage that can be applied to any form. Plus it would be cool if they used Spirit Control and God Ki the arc to develop their own special Saiyan Hybrid version of Ssj God or Saiyan Hybrid version of an enhanced Ssj2 Ssj God form.

There are some implications that Goten and Trunks have been practicing with fusion, so I don't think it is a stretch that they have found something there. Maybe they have improved the dance as a technique, maybe a "perfected" form or something of the sort. It really does feel like they are setting something up with Goten and Trunks here. And with how they did well as a tag team against Gohan without fusing, a perfected fusion might actually put them in a good spot against a legitimate threat.
Pretty hyped chapter
We might finally see some actual use for Goten and Trunks going forward. Whis would have extensive knowledge of tge Metamoran race and possibly send the boys to their planet to refine the fusion and tap into higher stages as Gotenks to bring them up to par with Gohan and Piccolo.
Broly could learn how to control his anger with Gohan's help and control his power like Kale. I'm excited for the uncharted territory we're crossing into.
I wish we could've had a bit more progression into controlling the Beast form since it IT IS Gohans limit breaking power, but I'm just glad we finally get to see Gohan stacking up with Gohan, and I can't wait to see how the fight ends.
I still miss Gohan's Saiyaman outfit. They made a point og him having to go change, made he could have just garbbed the watch or something. I just like that Gohan had an outfit that was uniquely his, instead of just using Goku or Piccolo's. Heck could of had Gohan take off the helmet and cape to start fighting and that could be when he passes the knowledge to Goten and Trunks.
Bad things happened when Goku and Vegeta were gone and they handled it.
Shame they didn't bring Piccolo with them.

I just had a thought, Pan now has access to 2 possible transformations. She can go either SSJ or Beast since her father can use both, and since she is more human than Saiyan, it might be more likely that she goes Beast instead over SSJ when she develops more from her training.

while not a fan of goku able use ultra instinct like super saiyan still/really didn't need fat gotenks(either have skinny get some time to fight or just don't have fusion till toriyama makes a true gotenks designs with them.) loved them fighting around the tree(with no. 15 being a good sport filming it even if likely for nefarious purposes.) especially goten finally going to beerus planet with his dad that was teased so long ago,ultimate gohan appearing/lampshading the name & beerus getting pissed at his planet getting wrecked by the aftershocks of their blows/broly catching leemo while cheelai shields herself fine alongside carmine at least being thankful for gotenks catching him.
since broly watched and commented on the Z warriors super sandwich skills, i’m praying that he gets his chance to show his training off. (i will also accept a broly chelai and lemo side story)

A thing that made the martial artist in me smile was Vegeta commenting on all the wasted movement :P
I must also admit it would be kinda cool to have all three of them teaching Broly something, after all while his rage is different, it is a possible point of connection between Gohan and Broly.

Really solid chapter, although I would have preferred to see the real Gotenks spar against Ultimate Gohan for a bit and have the entirely of the Goku fight in the next chapter.
I also wish that Whis will explain more of what exactly is Beast and Orange and that Carmine being there isn't just for a gag (even if it is a funny one I must admit).

the funniest thing in this chapter to me is finally putting the name of Ultimate in Canon only after it's no longer Gohan's strongest transformation
I was actually kinda disappointed by Gohan Beast vs Goku it felt like we waited a month for what i feel was a pretty weak start to a fight I actually think the Gohan vs Trunks and Goten fight was more interesting due to the choreography of the fight and their use of their environment and tag team moves where as Goku and Gohan are so powerful that they immediately destroy everything around them leaving them with nothing to use to make their fight more dynamic leading to what comparatively was a more bland fight so I’m hoping next chapter will be a bit better in that front
I only wish they'd done skinny Gotenks, because with how often they pull out "fat Gotenks" lately, I get the impression everyone forgot the "skinny" gag version also exists.

Gohan needing glasses when not buffing himself is hilarious and grounded in realism SOMEWHAT. As much as anime powerbuffs can be realistic. I like it. I wondor if we take tranfsformations out of the equation, if simply focusing his ki, he can improve his vision in a pinch. I bet he could.
