    新山人引以为傲的传统庙宇,坐落在马来西亚柔佛新山,至今超过百年历史,每年农历正月十八日至正月廿二日举行的百年游神盛会,于二零一二年获政府列为国家非物质文化遗产。
    柔佛古庙是典型潮式建筑风格的庙宇,原名元天上帝庙,早年也被称为大老爷宫,因为其主神元天上帝被称为大老爷。
    二十世纪初建立了围墙,在山门之上,冠上了柔佛古庙之名。在马来西亚及新加坡,以地名命名的庙宇,柔佛古庙是少数之一。
    古庙现保有廿二件匾额,十八件有年号,其他文物:香炉,铜钟,铜锣,古剑等。其中最早的两件文物为匾额 《总握天枢》,由潮州众弟子, 于“同治庚午年岁月谷旦”敬立(即公元一八七零年):古钟于同治乙亥年六月吉旦,(即公元一八七五年)由惹呀坡弟子合敬,惹呀坡是当年潮州人对新山的别称。
    Johor Ancient Temple, founded over a century ago and stands at the heart of the local Chinese community, is a traditional temple situated in the city of Johor Bahru, South of Peninsular Malaysia. The century-old Johor Bahru Chingay procession, held annually from eighteenth through the twenty-second day of the first Chinese Lunar month, was inscribed as National Intangible Cultural Heritage in the year 2012.
    Johor Ancient Temple is a typical Chaozhou style temple architectural design. Originally The Temple of Yuan Tian Shang Di, epithets The Palace of The Great Grandmaster in the early years where Yuan Tian Shang Di, the primary deity who regards as The Great Grandmaster. Johor Ancient Temple is one of the few temples in Malaysia and Singapore named after places, engraved on the entrance gateway built in the early 20th century.
    A total of twenty-two pieces of historical Chinese character plaques currently preserved in Johor Ancient Temple with eighteen of them have reign title. Other cultural artefact includes incense burners, copper bells, copper gongs and ancient swords. The Chinese character plaque 《总握天枢》erected by the Chaozhou devotees in Tongzhi Gengwu Year (The Gregorian year 1870) and the copper bell, presented by the Re Ya Po devotees in Tongzhi Yihai Year (The Gregorian year 1875), are the two oldest artefacts of all. Re Ya Po is an epithet for Johor Bahru, given by the Chaozhou people in those days.
    Tongzhi - Emperor Tongzhi (1861-1875), the 10th Emperor of the Qing Dynasty.
    Gengwu Year - The 7th year of the 60-year cycle of the Chinese Lunar Calendar (Gregorian year 1870)
    Yihai Year- The 12th year of the 60-year cycle of the Chinese Lunar Calendar (Gregorian year 1875)
