Nick, such an amazing grand parade event in Johor Bahru! Not aware of it until l watched your video! Cheers to the Regent of Johor for attending this event with his kids showing them diversity and multiculturalism! Great video Nick !👏❤️
Johor prospers due to the blessings from our Koo Miou. More than a hundred years history. From my childhood, my beloved Father brought all of us to watch and carried me on his shoulder all through the procession. Abah, Mommy I miss both of you dearly❤ Happy Chinese New Year of the Dragon, Huat Ah!
You are fantastic...you were actually part of the floats/parade 👏👏👏 I actually felt I was there personally..my TV screen suddenly turned 3D 😆..I feel the vibrancy and the warmth of the people. Well done..you took a lot efforts plus energy 😅..I would have stationed at a corner for the entire parade. Congratulations 🎊. .
yeah, we really never expected anything at this grand scale. And althought very crowded, the whole procession went very smooth. The people, the organisers, and of course 1900 police officers on site, made the whole festival regal yet fun!
Wah so grandeur the Chinggay celebration in JB .... Thanks NICK for this video, we thruly enjoy the spectacular festival, surprised to see TMJ was in attendance You are very resourceful in searching such thrilling events to share with your viewers Thanks .... Happy New Year PL
hi Philip, yes, the Johor royal family have graced Chingay events multiple times in the past. That shows they really respect the other races. 👍 Actually i've to thank some viewers for inviting me to attend this event. 🙏
Good stuff. The chinese culture is pretty much still strongly alive in Malaysia. I prefer to watch your video than actually being there. Too crowded for my liking. But I do like the atmosphere and fun there. Thanks for sharing.
Excuse my ignorance but what is Johor Chingay ? I have never heard of it before. It is very festive. Apparently you are still celebrating Chinese New Year ??? Thank you for sharing.
Chingay Johor is a unique tradition (Since 1870) by Southern Johorean of continuous CNY celebration till the 21st day of CNY. On this day, Johor Old Temple will have a night parade of 5 God organized by 5 major Chinese Clans (Hokkien, Teochew, Hakka, Hainan, Cantonese). Each Chinese clan will be represented by one deity and parade from the main ground circling around the city along a roughly 8 km route passing through JB City Square back to the starting point. It's very lively and interactive whereby onlookers/spectators can participate in mingling into the parade without much restriction.
hi Vincent, i'm not 100% sure, but Chingay basically means art of costume and masquerade. In Penang, it's usually celebrated in Dec, while Johor one is on the 21st day of CNY. Johor Chingay is coincide with the Ancient Temple deities procession. Penang one i'm not sure, but from what i've read, the first Penang Chingay was to celebrate Guan Yin birthday.

Hey there, thank you very much for explaining to Andrew about Chingay Johor. 🙏
@@Cubs3344 Thank you very much for the thorough explanation.
Is the one in Johor similar to PG one?

@@Nick_catman 讓我很心動啊。
China ambassador to Malaysia was there on the VIP stage
oh i see, he was at the Xing Gong earlier
there were many singaporeans travelled here for Chingay 😀
