Good analysis. I would further add that certain trends, while not necessarily popular, are important as explorations of variations to existing trends. For example, the 'fuck smoothness' concept pushed by Giraldez some years ago, and more recently by Craftworld Studios. Brushstrokes can be beautiful, but very few painters promulgate this.
Personally, I try to - but not by design. I'm just a lazy painter who can't be usually bothered to blend.

Thank you. Yeah, it has been nice to see those approaches. I remember the hashtag at the time but I've not see it much lately

I'm a small account (200 followers) I used to get a couple dozen likes when I posted but since the "change" I now get 3-5.... it's pretty discouraging. I've been painting consistently for the past 8 years and on & off for the past 25 years so this isn't going to kill the hobby for me but I'm really considering if the whole IG thing is really worth it. But great video! Glad to hear it's just not something I'm doing wrong. Other than not playing the algorithm game...

Glad you enjoy it! Yeah I've heard a lot of people raise the same issue lately, where their reach and interaction have gone down and if socials are really worth it now. Some of the facebook groups and other platforms seem to have better interaction than IG atm

I really have the same experience latley with the lower view rates, especially with ppl that are not followers. View and interraction ratings are good but its really low compared to 2-3 months ago. Keep going mate 👍 😁

Yeah, there has been a bit of a shift in the landscape. I've seen a lot of people saying the same thing, I'm hoping we see some new changes in the future to address some of these things

Nice video mate, subbed now. I am one of the older breed with many of those old miniatures. I am trying to do a painting project with the same miniature you painted but with a heap doing different chapters. Wont look as good as yours but thanks for the inspiration. cheers 👍🍺

Thank you for the sub. Some of the old models are great, feel free to share some pictures of them. It will be a trip down memory lane for me

I had forgotten you said you would get me a pint!
It was a very good video and a great summation of the social media experience at the moment and what we have lost as a community.
When I first started using Instagram for Warhammer I used to love scrolling the hashtags and explore page and getting new ideas and inspiration. It's all gone now.
I feel as if I do go against the trend of the constant polished photos on Instagram as I tend to over post WIPs 😂. And I've benefitted from slamming memes out onto the short form video hype train.
Social media is still a fantastic and vital part of the hobby even if the experience has been nerfed slightly.

Yeah, that pint is still up for grabs!
Thank you. I used to spend some good time scrolling through the explore and hashtag search now I feel like I see the same content for a period which is a shame.
I'm in the same boat with the wips, I don't paint fast enough to have a completed model every week lol. You are doing some good work with the memes and reels.
I agree that socials are still a vital part, especially when it comes to building relationships in the hobby.

    Great video.
I have tried out a few different alternatives but pretty much all of them suck compared to insta så its a shame.
I am also a small account and I TRY to focus on using it as a gallery for myself, and not to much on the likes.
If anyone knows any actual good platforms to use with or instead of insta I would love to hear them. :)

Cheers mate. Yeah, new platforms are hard to come by. I remember Vero was a flash in the pan for a while and showed good promise but it lacked some features at the time. AFAIK they are still developing the platform and it could make a resurgence in the mini scene, seems kind of popular in the photography space.
