  • Fireworks in water drops are really amazing. Some chemical reactions and compounds dissolving in water create a colourful spectacle even in a very confined space like a water drop. The compounds and chemical reactions I selected are: Prussian Blue, Fluorescein, Methylorange and Amylose Iodine.
Prussian Blue, also called Berlin Blue, Parisian Blue, Ferric hexacyanoferrate, Iron(III) ferrocyanide, Iron(III) hexacyanoferrate(II) or Turnbull's Blue, is a blue pigment that can be created by mixing ferrocyanide and iron (III) compounds. The forming nano particles first go into a colloidal dispersion and then precipitate into a heavy paste.
Fluorescein is an organic compound fluorescing in certain blue and ultraviolet wavelengths. In concentrated solutions the its colour appears red but as soon as it is diluted it takes a very intense green colour.
Methylorange is an indicator that is used in labs for titration. It has a equivalence point at around pH 3,1. In the video hydrochloric acid is added to go beyond the equivalence pint causing an intense red colour chance.
Iodine reacts with amylose into a complex that appears blue in colour. Unfortunately the reaction didn't work as intended.

The music really made it feel like we are watching the birth of a universe, gas swirling and forming galaxies etc.

In a very selfish way I am glad that this channel has yet to blow up with subscribers, so I can be one of the few privileged enough to see your artwork. That being said, I hope you gain the huge recognition you deserve and millions more will soon join the ranks to be able to watch your magic

What another great video with great music! I'd personally really appreciate it if you started putting the song titles in the comments or description, though. That link to the music just opens a catalogue, not the song itself.

Excellent video sequence that must have been difficult to shoot. I have an opportunity to purchase the Olympus CX43. I was wondering what you used it for ? DIC ? I know the BX53 is far superior but I don't have the cash for that. Thanks.

Hi thank you so much!! The CX43 is excellent.I use it for Phase-contrast, DF and Polarised light . It is even capable of Florescence. And BF of course. I can recommend it. This microscope is a work horse.
The BX53 is for DIC mainly. It has a much stronger Light Source.
