D12 on Critics Accusing Eminem of Sounding Like AZ on 1st Album

- www.vladtv.com - D12 has been with Eminem since the beginning of his career, which they spoke about during an exclusive interview with VladTV. The Detroit emcees shared stories about being in the studio while Em recorded his first project, "Infinite," and Kuniva spoke specifically about working on track, "Open Mic."
Speaking more about the album, the guys of D12 spoke about its poor reception, and Bizarre revealed that Eminem spoke about retiring if he didn't place well at the Rap Olympics. The Detroit spitter ended up getting second place at the contest, and after Eminem called Bizarre with the news that he caught the attention of Dr. Dre, the D12 emcee told us that he quit his job.
D12 would later go on to work with Dr. Dre, whom the group said treated them like his own artists, which you can hear more about in the above clip.
These dudes have to be so sick of answering questions about Eminem.
lmfao
Probably but he's the only reason they were ever relevant and somehow stay relevant, especially these days when they're looking like someone's grand dad
and only reason they have money....
actually d-12 is
kobe24OBCity these chick dont even know the name of my band
but they're all on me like they wanna hold hands
When I first heard infinite I was blown the fuck away. I was like, who the fuck is connecting words like this with so much ease?? His flow was incredible on that joint, lyrically very impressive. I still to this day don't understand how people consider it his worst record. I think it's actually one of his best ones to be honest.
Ayy was good 19128 here. Completely agree tho
19120 in the house
its a quality thing and most heard it in wishy washy download after.
Word lol he strung some tight rhymes together.
"I keep the stadium packed to capacity,
I'll send a wack rapper back with the crack of his
ass-shitty"
+philly nation Its not one of his best because he simply didn't grow a style of his own yet which is far more important than rhymes, you need to set yourself apart and not just be a clone of somebody else (like all of the Future clones these days), Em was using the flows of Nas, AZ, and Rakim on this project.
AZ is a great rapper to emulate. The most underrated MC, never on any publication's top 10 list, but true fans of the culture know.
Already laid ether on these fuckboi's tryna front like they've been fans, I salute you for being a proper hip-hop head.
Masta Ace is the most underrated tbh.
+HipHopLover93 R&BLover93 I can't even be mad at that statement.
+GMP997 Mostly because so many people mistakenly call it "Do or Die."
+GMP997 Aziatic was about 8 years ahead of its time though.
Em is dope but AZ is one of the most underrated lyricist of all time. AZ can put anything together and tell stories with it. AZ just never when commercial like em
Az the only person who consistently did tracks with nas and in my view always one upped him...
@@ArMiNiSfUCkinRedicK I just saw yo ass dude 🤦🏽♂️
@@ArMiNiSfUCkinRedicK AZ even bodied Nas on some of his records
big boi is the most under rated
These chicks don't even know the name of my band.
Cause once I blow they know that I'll be the man
u can tell they sick of being asked about em
Interviewing guys to talk about someone else's success, have some respect man and talk to them about them
Tru
yeah but WHO WOULD KNOW D12 WITHOUT EMINEM?
"Fuck Marshall, ask us the questions
Like who's D12, how we get started
(What about Eminem?)
Bitch are you retarded?"
This interview is urging me to listen "My Band" by D12
No Baby Blak of I’ll Advised is
Yo vlad get Eminem to do an interview view hear it from the horses mouth instead of always bugging D12 talk about them more then Eminem y does it always gotta be em y can't it be about them
+NOSTIX VASQUEZ eminem doesnt do shit when it comes to the press or media for that matter. hes the most anonymous famous person ever.
+Bubbles Eminem does press when it is appropriate to promote a project. But there is just no logical reason for him to do tabloid interviews, which is essentially what VladTV is.
lmao vlad kld never get em jay or any1 thats a legend
lmao vlad kld never get em jay or any1 thats a legend
+acee outlaw Yo real shit but he got The D.O.C. on recently. I'll give credit where credit is due.
You can kind of tell they are frustrated that they are still getting asked about marshall. they came there to talk about D12 and the devil's night mixtape. if you want info on em them then interview eminem ( pretty sure that will never happen), but D12 is giving you their time and all you can do is ask about another man for a whole 10 minutes. they clearly want to get away from that shadow. c'mon vlad
"I take a couple uppers, I down a couple downers but nothing compares to these blue and yellow, purple pills"
+JediKush702 ,,If I could capture the rage of today's youth...''
***** Bugz and Proof...If they came back, rap would be diffrent.
Also, come back Makaveli!
I take a couple uppers I take a couple downers but nothing compares to these purple yellow blue and pills 😂😂😂😂😂😂
"I've been to mushroom mountain"
+Joseph Stalin once or twice but who's countin'
No matter how big any of Ems hits get bizarre is the VOICE of d12 💪🏻
Eleven minutes of nothing but Eminem questions. ALL I WANNA HEAR IS ONE D12 INTERVIEW AS D12 NOT EMINEM BUDDIES
Remember the track Em did with Thyme of 5Elementz, Proof's first group produced by J Dilla.
Fuckin' Bizzare, man. "Once he broke out that henny man, it was time to work!" - "And the fried chicken!"
Lord Jamar be like "this played out joke is better than Eminem"
ABCDEFGHIJKLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
I know that shit is so lame lol it's some type of follow the leader hold my left butt cheek type stuff to get likes..
Ha
I love how humble these guys are...
i love infinite its got that poor struggle classic hip hop authentic sound in the recordings of the songs that feel it came from the heart and soul not that 12 writers 10 producers record label battery chicken coop pumped out manufactured shit...if that makes sense
Is Bizzare acting sober??! never seen him talk so much sense lol.. i love him
these dudes gotta be tired of talkin bout em
Vlad always talks aboit em..clickbait
Infinite was definitely a great album. I was blown away by the lyrics of the song and the album. Shit was crazy!
Eminem and Nas are the best rappers ever
lol! bizarre working as security at a hospital! who thought that was a smart idea?
Haha! the person that hired him seeing purple pills or my band
hahaha yeah he'd steal all the drugs and visit the elderley women constantly! hahahahaha
Cats these days just Hate MF's for no reason now smh D12 wasn't the dopest rap group ever but they had some nice cuts you can't deny that shit!
jgodoy80 under the influence is a dope ass posse track
True. Shame they didn't survive without M&M
infinite was his best album to me
+White Guy bar for bar infinite swipes mmlp, but I like mmlp more
Agreed
+STD's Official I agree, Infinite was more lyrical
+Keith Cooper stop trying to be a hipster. It was good no doubt, but MMLP and SSLP was better.
Infinite was very good lyrically, but production, beats are mediocre.MMLP,SSLP and TES are his best work
"Infinite" was his best album. He was really biting Masta Ace, AZ, Rakim & Nas heavily , though. On "Infinite" he is just throwing around multisyllablic words . He even uses words improperly. "Stimulator" and words like that. "Masterpiece". "Telekenesis". Canibus, Chino XL, DZK and K-Rino do it better. At least Canibus, DZK, K-Rino & Chino XL did that with more character. So did Masta Ace, AZ, Rakim , Ras Kass & Nas.
D12's Devil's Night is one of the most under-rated albums. There was some mainstream media hype on release with the singles and stuff, but it sort of fell off the grid after that. But it far surpasses anything that Eminem has released solo since The Marshal Mathers LP.
Okay so AZ did it first, AZ inspired him. Showed him the directions to greatness, so if the greatest rapper to ever live, was influenced by AZ and Eminem may adapted his style but to AZ fans, that Just shows how great AZ was, he helped Eminem become Eminem
Man ask about Proof or Bugz too. Em is awesome but D12 is my favorite rap group of all time and I want to know about all of them not just Em.
*Open mic! Love that track.*
Great rappers. Dre and Em did like his top 3 songs the first time they met. Whatever though loyalty to D12 forever. Wish they were back. They could just make a whole diss album.
Especially though why are they spending so long on The History of Eminem when he's not even here? Like i LOVE LOVE LOVE Eminem but its like, any real fan already knows this entire story by heart its not even like new info. So if you call d12 for an interview make the interview about d12
What I absolutely love is how Eminem included his day one people. I love how bizarre his job off the strength of Eminem bringing him along the journey. Dope shit 💯💯💯💯
D12 seem like some real humble chill guys, no ego or bitterness
No matter what this group does, they can make the best rap album of all time and they would still be called Eminem's back up singers
I always thought Swift was the best rapper in D12, excluding Em of course.
Kuniva
6:51 WTF did Bizarre saw on the floor...
I'm confused on the timeline I thought slim shady was made on his first meeting with Dre with hi my name is but d12 says it started with them but the d12 album came out years later so the d12 album was made before he met with dre
them and em NEED too make a d12 song, for proof and bugzz, that would be sick..
He sounded like Nas on infinite. This happens to every upcoming artist that come in the game. Many rappers has got their style from the ones that influence them. No sin with This!
I got my style from Rakim, who is considered to be the influence of many rappers.
Do I sound exactly like Rakim? - No! He's on another level of consciousness than I with the knowledge of the 5 percenters- I was influenced by his rhyme technique of internal rhymes.
Great group of MC's. They are have completely different styles however they work so well together.
lol anybody that says shit like "Infinite was the first Eminem album I've heard" and/or "Infinite was his best album" is a straight up hipster. Em had 2 good songs on that album (313 and Infinite).
completely agree
truth... mmlp2 was better
you forgot about open mic, that was a good ass song
+ghyprh Maxine and Tonite was peak bruv
+ghyprh 2 good songs?lmaoo.. Open Mic, Tonite, It's OK, Backstabber, Maxine
Vlad stay talking about Eminem
Vlad loves to talk about Eminem. 😂😂😂
Infinite was a dope album, better than 80% albums released this year... for real... even though he sounded like az and nas, but when you listen some songs from infinite you automatically likes it, I mean, it was real hip hop...
Stop all of the eminem questions we know by now let the other dudes get recognized.
I Fuck with D-12 heavy. Devil's Night was one of the dopest albums I had as a Kid. Straight up.
I loved the mixtape but damn come on and give us another official D12 album with everyone!RIP Bigg Proof!
Eminem is the best all around rapper of all time
Nah
No.
nah. I'd definitely say his technical ability and rhyming ability is right there with the best of them tho
JMilli Like rhyme structuring and shit like that, rhyme schemes and such
Smh at this dude...please just stop.
Biz doing the Dr Dre impression hahaha
Ask about Proof!!!!
I'd love for Em to do a refreshed version of Infinite. Updated but similar beats, updated but similar lyrics (just to make it work better with his aged voice, flow, etc).
Damn I was just listening to D12's Good Die Young track. RIP Proof
That's disrespectful to AZ. AZ dropped better albums than Em's "Infinite".
Agree, if Az aint in your top 5 you fucked up
+Tone Riggz Doe or Die album is better than any Em album to me.
All these AZ fans coming out the woodwork and shit, where were you when he was dropping classics?? If you actually bought the albums maybe AZ would be a legit staple in Hip-Hop instead of mentioning him every now & then. AZ is dope, only real rap fans know what's up.
I own either all of AZ'a albums or most of them
Doe or die is a lyrical masterpiece. Every single song on it.
Swifty looking like he ready to swing on Vlad any moment lol
The reason 50 cent was signed to Shady/Aftermath was because Dr. Dre and Eminem went 50/50 on 50.
You can tell from the look on their faces that they're not really feeling these Eminem questions. Yeah, they may not have gotten a record deal because of Em, but this is just sad to sit through. I can't watch this.
D12 is definitely underrated IMO
Infinite was a great album and the Slim Shady EP was a great follow up to it and the Slim Shady LP was a good long album and The Marshall Mathers LP was solid and The Eminem Show to me was a Classic and his best album Encore was average Curtain Call the extra songs made it slightly above average Relapse/Refill was something new and worth looked into Recovery was Hard Core The Marshall Mathers LP 2 was a great sequel to the original but not as good but I would say it is better then Encore, Curtain Call, Relapse/Refill, and Infinite. But not as good as The Eminem Show, The Marshall Mathers LP, The Slim Shady LP, or The Slim Shady EP. Then his collaboration albums like The RE-UP and Shady XV where good but not classics or solids or something too new.
I'll give D12 a listen fo sho
Devils Night still a classic to this day 💯
Theyre underrated
I wasn't really into the infinite album I was and still am in love with the song infinite tho, I still listen to it till this day
EMINEM WAS BORN 2 FUCKING BE A RAPPER HE WAS JUST PARANOID WHAT HE WOULD FACE
This is all great publicity for AZ who's one of the best mcs to have touched the mic. But to me infinite always sounded similar to illmatic specially "it ain't hard to tell " with the fresh beat and sound but every rapper has been influenced by the last generation And honestly Em is very honest in infinite making it a classic on its own because it's different men with different lives coming from the hood.
RIP Proof and Bugz
em got a record deal @age 27.
even when he was rapping @early 20s dude was crazy!!!! #look up his raps
Only Lord Jamar spoke about Em more than D12 did.
I remember the Source trashed that album because they said he sounded too much like AZ and Nas.
Eminem is a great rapper but I feel he's very over rated by white people including vlad. His weakest point is his albums his albums follow a very specific format I do not regard them as classics his hit singles are very pop and don't age well.
What's wrong with pop if he raps well to it he don't just repeat words that a 5th grader can use or wright
@@marcosleon215 I see your point but at the same time it doesn't matter if you use speak properly or Ebonics people can't help how they speak I wish people would just accept that we can move on with life
d12 actually had a huge impact here in brazil! Excited for the album (:
Infinite was dope.. People adapt styles to blend them all the time. Just because 1 rapper sounds like another rapper does not mean its a blatant rip off. Its homage and inspired. But taking a look at Em now... Not even the same person vibe or hint of similarity. We all evolve.
I like hearing these stories of the past, and these questions
6:51 lol I wonder what Bizzare was smiling and pointing at
I remember running into proof at the state theater and man was he high as hell. I passed through a group of niggas to get to the bar and lo and behold proof stopped dead in his tracks starring at me in amazment as if i was some angel or something. These dudes seen the sings and they let proof go out like that anyway.
i didnt know Debo from QOTR was in D12
lmfao I jus noticed that
Haha
truuuuu
legends
I still don't see the comparisons cause Infinite was just straight underground rap AZ and Nas were on that Mafioso Rap the same year Infinite came out and even before that they (Nas and AZ) were just doing Grimy Boom Bap
I went to lids and got a custom tailored "D12" hat. I was an angry 14 year old
Infinite is Ems best album IMO.
Love Slim Shady LP and Marshall Mathers LP too.
Eminem Show was good too.
And AZ is sick as fuck. Just got onto him after watching this video. Forgot he was the guy on Nas - lifes a bitch
good shit, love that devils night CD, shit was always in the boom box
Eminem paved the way for guys like me. Much respect and D12 is the shit. D12 World was their best shit.
D12 4 LIFE!!!!!
Biz doing Dre's " Hell Yeah " hahahahaha
check out Masta Ace - Block Episode . and tell me that doesnt sound exactly like early slim, kinda jaw dropping actually ..
Your asking if d12 was apart of eminem's solo deal with dre? Wtf. Stop asking stupid questions!
Am I tripping or does Bizzare not sound like himself at 9:14?
+Flight Empire hahaha that's his Dr Dre impression. If you go back to the old D12 tracks, they do that every now and then. It cracked me up when I saw him do it here! lol
Oh, Good shit bro! lol, I would've never figured that out... I always thought D12 was dope but I couldn't into their music like that.
Flight Empire haha really? Their early shit is sick. In fact, check out Bizarre's solo joint "No Rubber" kills it.
I do feel bad for these guys, they've got so many interesting stories of their own but keep getting asked about Eminem, I'm sure they don't mind because they're tight but still...
I am sorry but i am a fan of AZ i suppose every one here is as well (speculating), look as i am typing this, i am listening to infinite and no matter if eminem took a bit here and there..
1."THIS IS EMINEM BABY"
2."1 TIME FOR YOUR MOTHERFUCKING MIND"
3."WE REPRESENT THE 313"
he had to have known people would've said this because at the very start of the song he says number 1, i am actually glad he used AZ that way because it made song sound even better.
Wow, its cool that VladTV is talking about a topic this unknown.
don't you like a d-12 interview turns completely about eminem. Cause i know i sure as fun don't. Hell, even eminem doesn't.
Highly rate all these guys personalities and Em, chill dudes.
People all just want to say the same shit they've heard everyone else say and pretend they reached the same conclusion on their own. He was somewhat similar to AZ but obviously had his own style already by Infinite, even if it wasn't his fully mature style yet.
He definitely sounded like AZ on the actual song "Infinite." He got the celebrity roasting punchlines shit from Chino XL though. Both of which were Wake Up Show alumni. Marshall Mathers was his best though.
Lord Jamar be like "B-Rabbit better than Eminem"
"Security guard for a hospital" You gotta love Bizarre.
"Fuck Marshall, ask us some questions"
devils night is my favorite
If their body language isn't screaming it for you Vlad, how about Swifty checking his zipper pocket to look at when the fuck the the interview's over. They're sick of the middle man interview. That Infinite tho
Royce da 5'9" and King Gordy and Black Milk beg to differ that D-12 had the city on lock
"Infinite made HUGE impact nationwide" ....wtf no it didn't? Infinite flopped HARD initially to the point where Em almost gave up rapping, it wasn't until he created the Slim Shady alter ego when he made The Slim Shady EP that he got recognized. Dre heard that shit and the rest is history.....after Em blew up though people went back and got their hands on Infinite and realized how iLL it was
Infinite is his best album. After Slim Shady was born, he only rapped about raping and stabbing people. Infinite and Recovery are the only albums where Eminem didn't write about psycho stuff
Nah fuck recovery. Sslp mmlp infinite ssep are the best fuck all that other shit
he got some of his influence from the outsider's outta Newark NJ
Infinite was a cool album from the perspective of listening to it now, but I can understand why it received criticism during that time of hip-hop.
