"CHENILLE-IT" What a great way to add even more coziness to a quilt. And that fabric is SO cute for a girl. Very thoughtful of you to show us: 1) how you kept the roll of chenille in the bag to keep it from getting tangled; 2) different sewing machine feet that would work for sewing the chenille down; 3) how to attach the chenille so it could be on the binding (it looks like a cool flange!) 4) showing us the lint trap on your dryer with the small amount of lint that came off the quilt. Although this is a basically simple quilt layout, the choice of fabric and your detailed instructions on how to use the chenille made it like the difference between a flat rectangular -- but yummy -- cake to a large sheet cake with detailed decorative icing and candles. I'm tempted to make this exact same quilt as a gift for myself - perhaps to celebrate my next birthday of 70 years of young-at-heart.
+newbeequilter WE are never too old or young to give our self's a gift! that way we get what we like lololol SEW glad you like it and thanks again for watching
So very lovely, Laura - as always! Your soothing voice, your clear instructions, your beautiful fabrics. And a great new product that saves al the clipping of regular ragging, while combining the two looks - the fluffy and the traditional quilting. Thank you for sharing!
Just found your tutorials, they are amazing... love your teaching style, clear instructions and excellent tips to make things so much easier. Thank you SO much
My dear Laura, I have been sewing since I was seven and I am now 60. I love sewing and recently purchased a new sewing machine that also does embroidery, and it has opened up a NEW WORLD. I have watched several of your videos, and you are VERY talented, a great teacher and have taught me so much that I continue to be inspired to learn more and make new things. Who says, "You can't teach an OLD dog new tricks?" Thank you for everything and keep teaching. God bless, Phyllis
Wow, wow, wow! Loving this idea. Thank you so much for introducing it to me. I will do this to a future project for sure! I love all your tutorials Laura.
OMG!!! I love this 😍 Can't wait to make for my granddaughters. One even has her bedroom with the Paris theme, so that would be just perfect. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Laura, This is indeed a beautiful quilt. You almost make me feel like I need to make one, except that I find quilt-making quite intimidating and I get anxious. I like the chenille strips and the fact that you could quilt it together so "easily". I will play your video several more times before I attempt to make it, but I love the step-by-step instructions. Thanks for sharing.
I love any fabric with a Paris theme. I love your quilt and will try to double the size in length for my two granddaughters. So, that gives me four quilts.
I absolutely loved this. I loved the design and the fabric, so when asked to make a quilt for my friends daughter with a Paris theme, i thought of this. Im quite an amateur, and I had a few problems. I found one layer of the tape did not give a very fluffy effect, so I used 2 layers (I made a test patch). The tape itself is quite narrow and stretchy, and I didnt have a foot like yours. I struggled to keep it flat and straight under the foot. Initially I used a walking foot, but then an ordinary presser foot with a closed clear toe as it held the tape down better. I press my seams to the sides, so when I got to the corners of the blocks, with potentially 4 layers of fabric under the foot, and 2 layers of tape, I found the walking foot bucked around. The presser foot was better. The fact I press to the side also meant the fabric wasnt level beneath my foot, and added to the problems I was having with the tape curling in from the sides. Even though its not yet finished, I do like the effect of the tape, it does set off the squares, Im just a bit anxious it wont be fluffy :)
Thank you Laura :) My quilt is huge, its for a King Single but she wanted it to the floor so its actually queen size. After watching your video again yesterday I was already a bit better :)
That chenille tape would be adorable on a denim vest (or a denim quilt). My grandmother had every bed in her house covered with a white chenille coverlet.
Laura, not only do I love this idea, I absolutely love the fabric!! I think I'll add this to my list of projects and make this one for "ME"!! Thank you so much for the great idea and for a wonderful tutorial. 😀
Thanks,I recently got a new sewing machine and have made 3 baby blankets already for my nieces kids.I am a beginner sewer and have so much to learn yet.But Thank god for you tube tutorials.I made my first pleated zippered case the other day.Turned out not too bad.
Thanks,I do have fun.Today I made a cosmetic bag but I forgot to iron on the stabilizer and I sewed the zipper on the long side instead of the short side and now it looks like a floppy pencil case.Lol! Oh well, still looks pretty good.
Thank you for sharing.. i love your neat work and your easy way of explaining.. much appreciated.. i have never heard of this .. it looks stunning and so are the colours .. i am certainly going to make this for my granddaughter who lives in Perth .. Australia.. thanks again .. lotsa love from Johannesburg South Africa xxx
Laura, I wish I had seen this before the bus trip with the Sarnia Quilters' Guild. It certainly was a joy to meet you, a real "UA-cam" celebrity. Perhaps if you come to Sarnia, you could bring some of this product. You make it seem so easy for any skill level. Thanks for the video.
Hi it was so nice meeting all you crazy ladies:) what a great group you were, we had a lot of fun. and did you know that if you contact Quilting Confections she will mail it to you:) how fun is that!
That is so cute. I going to have to try the Chenille-It. Your fabric was so cute to it didn't need anything to jazz it up but it looks really nice with the Chenille.
That is really cool, I placed my order, got a Chance to speak with David over the phone. The product is great, I got my order today. Going to really enjoy making unique fashionable things with this. Thank you Laura
wow!! what a awsome idea. i really enjoyed this and will diffinately make this quilt. Laura you are a very good teacher will continue to watch all your tutorials. Thank you so very much.
I'm so glad I saw this! I'm preparing to make two simple baby quilts for a friend and will be adding the chenille to give them some pop so they won't look so plain. Thanks for the great video! :)
I loved the tutorial so much that I planned 2 quilts with the chenille-it. I felt the rolls were a bit expensive, but I loved the idea. I just finished one quilt and followed your instructions, but I was not happy with the final product. After washing, there was a huge amount of lint all over the quilt from the chenille-it. So, I washed and dried again. Still, a huge amount of lint. I used a lint roller to get the lint off. In handling the quilt, pieces of the chenille-it came out. Now, my quilt has bald spots! Even though I love this look and feel, I won't be using this product again. This quilt is a gift and now, I've got to explain that the chenille-it is going to produce a bunch of lint and fall out. 😢
I think I know what might have happened! .. the "chenille-it" needs to be stitched down with a reg stitch length. If the stitches are too big it can not hold the fibers onto the quilt and will wash out. Could this be the case?
I love it, I never knew Chenille did that, it's so amazing!! It adds that special touch to the quilt, I need to try that!!! Thank you for this tutorial. 😊☺️
saw a tutorial from chenille it and you can stitch the chenille directly to a serged edge on the quilt use the wider stuff and one on each side. This stuff is so easy to use and blooms beautifully.
Just to be "picky," the block mentioned as solid is really a large block print. :) I am a professional quilter and I loved this presentation. This is well presented and your voice is so perfect for presentations. I have not heard of chenille tape. This is so much nicer than sewing the seams on the outside. I think I could listen to your teaching all day long. Maybe you should do voice for many other tutorials. Thank you.
I'm in love with this quilt! I love the fabrics so much. I am working on a quilt with a similar style fabric pattern- black, white, and a turquoise "pop", but now I am thinking it would really be fun and more special to use this product to "chenille" it 🤓. AND I'm seriously thinking about adopting your pattern from your quilt. Mine would be all same-size blocks, but I like the larger blocks added in ☺️. That will also help with my concerns that my original pattern was going to make a smaller quilt than I wanted. I considered sashing, but I think the pattern you've used would look much better ☺️. Thank you for all your great tips and ideas! 💕💖love from a fellow Laura
Hi Laura, it was so nice to meet you yesterday at Quilt Canada (I'm a friend of the gal who didn't know how to lay sod, lol if you remember). I think this is just about the cutest idea I've seen in a long time. Thanks for the great video. I'm going to have to see if I can find the Chenelle It somewhere. This would make a great fun quilt.
Hi Nancy Yes I remember both of you...how could I forget lol. It was Really great meeting you both I'm glad you like the video. I don't think you could go wrong making this in any colour. Thanks again Your friend Laura
sew sweet to add to any quilt but especially to a baby or toddlers quilt. I have seen the product, didn't know what to do with it.. Thanks for the instructions.
Love how you try new fabrics. I found you while trying to make a "lay n go" make up bag. With a schrunchie around the outside that just folds down. No more digging thru makeup. But your four corner bags looks similar. I only have a mini portable sewing machine. Idk how to thread it ..... but I would love to start sewing! Would love to know how long you've done this and how you got into it.
I hope you will see this. I enjoy your tutorials. The one with the chenille tape I have tried to find reviews of this and have not been able to find much. What little I have found the reviews have not been good. Some say it frays and you have to use several layers. Can you give me your point of view on this. I am making a quilt that I wanted to use this but now I don't know. I appreciate any help you can give. Thank you. Cindy
No problem:) I have not had any problems with this fraying too much. I think the key is not to stretch it as you sew it. It is cut on the bias so it can stretch a lot! The more you stretch it the thinner and less fluffy it will be. In this video I did not stretch it at all and I like how much fluff I got. I use a small straight stitch to stitch it down and had very little lint in the dryer. hope this helps and thanks for asking
what a pretty & fun fabric patterns & the hot pink, black & white is so perfect blend!
it was a great fabric :)

I love any fabric with a Paris theme. I love your quilt and will try to double the size in length for my two granddaughters. So, that gives me four quilts.

take a look at this video and see if helps ua-cam.com/video/bGUgeoIs_IQ/v-deo.html. the tape does take a little practice:)
Thank you Laura :) My quilt is huge, its for a King Single but she wanted it to the floor so its actually queen size. After watching your video again yesterday I was already a bit better :)
I had no idea this Chenille product existed---soooo awesome! Thank you very much!

You welcome
:)
