Imagine a whole mass of young, attractive and talented people not dating. It just sounds wrong, weird and also impossible.
It’s actually not that impossible! There’s many who doesn’t date and gets an arrange marriage. Or they can be really busy or they just don’t want to date. Dating is not everything.
right?! and if the whole appeal of an idol is for fans to feel close to them, relate to them and feel a connection with them, how you gonna do that with someone who doesn't date, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't go to clubs, doesn't do ANYTHING but work? i would be seriously alarmed if members of BTS were like "no i have honestly never been on a date," like i get so excited when there's dating rumors about them because I WANT THEM TO BE NORMAL GUYS who date and get laid and fall in love and find happiness with someone cause god knows they deserve it. these delulus who think jungkook is staying a virgin just for them seriously need to get mental help.

@@tootoo4005 Everyone is different, and even healthy people can be asexual or simply abstinent. But for a large(ish) group of fit healthy young people to be consistently abstinent would be - in my experience - unnatural. It's not the 'not dating' itself that's an ussie, it's the imposition of behaviour that is not present in the normal population. Korean people do date, and they have sex (a lot) - no sense in expecting idols who (like athletes) spend so much time maintaining physical fitness to be different, is nonsense to the point of being dangerous for those people! It's sad, to me.

The language of "scandal" continues to keep the topic of dating as taboo and abnormal. I'm not saying that idols should flaunt their relationships or that the public needs to be all in their personal business but they shouldn't have to feel like openly acknowledging a relationship is opening the door to hell or that suddenly this gives Dispatch the right to follow them 24/7.
The system will change when kpop fans start looking at idols as the ARTISTS they are and not as their BOYFRIEND.

It's actually due to genes. Most korean women don't use deodorant due to this. Their body doesn't sweat a lot (of course there exceptions, not everybody is the same even in Korea) and doesn't "smell" that much, so is not a daily need

What I find to be so hilarious is when members of the same group, members who are living together for years, fans say they are dating. How is that considered dating? It is so weird. You would be worried if they didn't date? You make it seem like something is wrong with them. Not everyone wants a relationship. Being in a relationship is not the cherry on top in life. If some idols don't want to date it's probably because they don't want to be with someone at the moment and focus on their career. Their choice and not their company choice. A lot of idols dating bans are over but they are still single and that's by choice. Some idols also probably been in heartbreak and just need some time to heal and get to know themselves for the time being. Or some idols don't want strings attached and only want sex. That's reality to it! Also some idols don't care what some fans think and will date. Just like how we are told to be lowkey and live life idols do it too. I wouldn't call it secret dating I would say some idols are being lowkey and don't want a lot of people in their business.

I hate that you mention this because there's a scientific term for it, and I cannot remember it for the life of me. If someone knows, please comment it. Its where your voice changes slightly depending on what language you speak because of how the sounds are formed.

I like her because I can see that even in her rookie days she knew what she wanted and what seems like the robotic things they do in KPOP. She has clear mindset, i respect her for that. Hopefully KPOP industry can see that IDOLS are human not a human product that companies controls.

I think the reason I have a problem to believe that idols are dating is because they don't have time, I mean I'm not an idol, just a college student with a part-time job and I don't feel like I have tome for stuff like relationship :D So even when a lot of idols are probably dating, it's hard to imagine it because of their schedule...

From what I know, idols aren't always that busy: there are periods in which they wouldn't get any sleep, and periods in which they would have free time. Let's try and imagine a normal day in an idol's life: five or six hours of sleep, two or three hours of vocal practice, approximately three hours of dance practice, two or three hours of self care and meals. Without counting other planned activities, they have less than 6/7 hours of "freedom" (I counted also transportation and random waiting). This means that they can choose how to spend that free time: some idols may decide to work on improving some skills or composing, lyrics writing, etc. If not, they can hang out, and it doesn't have to be for many hours...even an hour or two can be enough for, in this case, a couple.
Now, what I described is a fictional situation and it may not be accurate since schedules are pretty unpredictable and they change like nothing.

For me as a bts army there's nothing wrong in dating let them enjoy their life. They really worked hard to entertain us just let them be. I hope other army's will understand. 💜
This was such a great interview. Not that familiar with Crayon Pop or Way, but this definitely got me interested. She's such a delight and a breath of fresh air. Her perspective and mindset on the industry is much needed. Also Way's English pronunciation is very good! Hope she continues practicing.

Well, if you noticed they never said they don't date. They're rather stay silent or change subject than to (obviously) lie. I remember Namjoon and Yoongi said in some interviews 'of course they dated, because otherwise how would they write all those love songs'? so....yeah, they do date.
The operative word is “openly”; date openly where the public knows they’re dating and it’s not a secret. I’m sure they do date but it’s not public knowledge.
My point was, maybe if dating was public knowledge, maybe it would alleviate the sasaeng issue. There will always be delusional fans but for the aggressive fan, it might put them into reality.
Hopefully, 2020 is a positive year for all idols. 💜

Even if it hurts me, I want BTS to date and get married. It hurts because I'm emotionally attached to them. I love them all as if they were a part of me. I want them to date and get married, but even though it can be emotionally damaging, I want them to be happy. It's like a break up, you don't want that person to move on but in your heart, you know you can't have them and the only way to be fully happy about it, is to make sure their happy and over time, you will feel better and good in the end. That is why people can't accept idols dating, because they are too attached to the idea that they were made just for the fans. But if they were normal human beings, would you still choose to love them?
Let them love who they wanna love, and yes, the idea of them being happy with others can hurt, but if you truly loved them, you'd let them be happy. If not. Your selfish and toxic.

LOL I relate so dang much to Way speaking English. I’m studying Korean and I can read and write and understand most things, can watch most videos without subtitles, but when I try to have a spoken conversation I can’t seem to put together a sentence to save my life. Super relatable. Clicked this video so fast when I saw Way was being interviewed, knew I wouldn’t be disappointed!

It's 1 am in the morning but I found this interview so interesting just had to sacrifice my sleep.
She is adorable. I like that she seems so expressive and free with her thoughts unlike all that weird controlled Korean Kpop stuff that just annoys international fans.
I really enjoyed this interview. Even though she was still nice and polite she was also honest, it is refreshing. I quite enjoyed her honesty, I think if bigger companies took a page out of her book and just let the honest but polite chips fly, the scandal would settle, and the crazy fan's wishes would not get preference.
This was really interesting! It's good to know that idols do have lives. Hopefully they wont have to hide forever.

I've been a huge fan of mamamoo for a while, and back in 2015/2016, I remember that mamamoo actually got into trouble for having specific requests for the sound system and mic functions at an award show (can't remember which one) since they were so new, so when she was talking about her experience at 12:20 that really made me flashback

she's got many good points!! i really hate the fact that idols have to suffer so much about ridiculous things.... it's quite toxic to cater to delusional and obsessive fans and people who need to vent their negative energy, i think their should be a balance of their roles as artists, entertainers, and role models... they should be respected and granted more freedom and be treated like human beings

As someone in the mental health profession, I appreciated her perspective that the system/mindset needs to change. However, I would say that systems change because the individuals WITHIN IT change. In other words, individuals change the system - which is what Way is doing by being courageous, upfront and honest.
All of us need support to be courageous and ourselves whether that’s family, friends, therapy or all of the above. Psychotherapy seeks to strengthen the individual and his or her relationships so this is where a Western perspective could prove useful to changing the system.
This was such a bittersweet interview to watch because my heart lurches at the thought of these artists being treated like this because its so true. Way did such an amazing job and I am so happy that she is an honest, genuine person. She seems like such a sweetheart and I hope more of the message of what she said spreads and becomes a beacon of hope! Thank you David for doing such a knowledgable sweet interview

I really didn't know about cryon pop until now.. Very sorry for that but at the same time when i saw this interview i fell in love with "way" for her maturity about dating life of idols, and talking openly and honestly about the company policy being who she is on and off camera as well
I already watched her interview with Asian Boss and loved it! Glad to see another great interview with her and she confirmed many things that I already knew as I have been a fan of Chinese, HK and Taiwanese artists for many many years. The fans of those artists are pretty supportive of their idols dating for the most part so I wish that Kpop idols’ fans would be too. They even encourage their idols to find a good partner to marry and start a family. Idols are humans who are trying to make a living and having their own life too. I truly hope many fans will realize that they are not robots and have emotions and want to be happy too. True fans should love and support them no matter what(unless they did something very bad then that is a different story).
The main thing I don't enjoy of Kpop is that sick idolization they want the fans to have. Like of course people date, have sex and drink! Specially young people, your teens and 20's are the years you are mostly discovering yourself so we all have the right to do what we feel like doing and that doesn't mean it will make you a better or worse idol. And I think it's so weird that hypocrite attitude of some fans who DO all these things themselves but don't want their fav idols (who are also HUMAN BEINGS) to do them.
I honestly hope every single one of the BTS members (my fav group) had have the opportunity of fallen in love at some point in their careers because it's one of the best things in life ❤️ and if someday one of them decides to get marry I wish nothing but the best to them! They as any other human deserve to love in freedom

Thank you a lot for talking about all this, the mental health, the hate, rumors etc. I would like to know why those we call [anti] are doing this? I see it a lot and more and more, I don't understand why fans are spending so much of their energy into hating on another group and even take the time to fabricated rumors with false evidences. What do they gain? Why they do that and why companies and Idols don't talk about it openly? They always say Speak yourself but they don't. I want them to address this, maybe it will help?

Wow this was soooo interesting. The time FLEW by!!! She was very open and shared so much info! It was VERY refreshing to see! I think she's very smart and seems like a good leader for other idols to follow. I hope more get brave like her and start speaking how they want and start speaking truthfully and then the climate will change and it will be normalized for idols being actually humans. Through this video i really want fans especially some Knets to understand that IDOLS are human too and they have the right to date and live as freely as we do. The IDOLS should be given privacy and should be respected for working so hard to achieve their dreams. Also the companies should not implement so many restrictions on their trainees and idols.
And can someone please just sue those people who spread hate and hurt people through their comments.
This world reallllyyyy needs to change.

Thanks for this interview. Way spoke articulately and intelligently, and I love that she is now able to be herself, open and frank about issues which should not really be controversial. I hope others are able to join her ans shift expectations and reality for Korean artists of all kinds.

this was so nice! it's super reassuring to see someone who is actually from the kpop industry and has common sense and normal opinions, who is also trying to change the system by being outspoken. it is really bizarre and unfair that western artists have so much more freedom than K-idols. i hope things would change for the better :)
