I got the gist of what you were doing after about 2 minutes but watched the whole thing because I loved watching it with the Benny Hill music. I kept on waiting for you to start chasing Lucinda around the tree or pat your neighbor on the head really fast. Fun!

.... and I am the FUN VIEWER. That's fast and cute. I love the idea. I used also card boards to cover the weeds instead of digging the soil and pull the weeds. So tiring and besides the weeds keep on sprouting again.

This video was way more entertaining than I expected it to be. I had fun watching it. It showed me exactly what I need to know to mulch around my fruit trees. Also, I just got off the phone with the company that manufactures the Mycorrhizae product that you are using and that is the exact product they recommended to me. They manufacture here in my town. I thought that was a crazy coincidence to see their product in your video. Spot on what I am planning for my back yard orchard. Thanks!

nice, and well done, concerning the cardboard wrotting, yes it will rot away in under two months, but if you dont desturb the soil and it doesn't get the light down there weed seeds will stay dormant, go do a permaculture course if you want to learn more, keep building it up:)

Yes. This is what I do too. Works every time, is good for the soil, and the cardboard is free! I have also done this in my beds to eliminate weeds, and encourage worms. It does wear down over a year, but I just put new cardboard under the new mulch in the spring, where needed.

Put holes in cardboard and then water can get into tree roots. Also dont ever put mulch up against tree base. You can place flower pots inside ring already planted with plants. Great idea. Thanks.

An excellent demo in general,, but please don't mulch right up to the trunk of a tree or bush! That's a good way to get a diseased or dead tree. Pull the mulch back around the trunk and give it an inch or two of space.

What are amendments and is it necessary to test the soil prior to starting the project? Can I also use this to grow healthy, weed free grass? What if I decide to put gravel instead of compost, just using the cardboard as an organic weed-free barrier instead of landscape fabric, will it keep the soil healthy and weed-free for a fairly long time? Thanks.

did you add two layers of bricks? or did she just add another round of bricks? it seemed like the first layer were at an angle, did you add a second layer to even it out? do you think something like cinder block would work as a border for the straight edges, or would it be too high?

Everyone is a critique. Look at yourselves. So sad. Do yourselves a favor and educate yourselves about sheet mulching before writing a "know it all" comment.

A LOT OF THE AIR GOT THE FERTILIZER , THAN THE GROUND . INTERESTING AND CUTE . EVEN THE BIBLE SAYS TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE . WE CAN GET A LOT DONE WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER . IF I PUNCH HOLES IN THE CARD BOARD , WOULD THE WEED BEGIN TO GROW THROUGH THIS ? I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE IDEA WITH THE CARDBOARD TO GET RID OR GRASS AND WEEDS

The cardboard supresses the grass and weeds from growing and as the cardboard breaks down plant roots go through them reaching into the soil below with the fertilizer in it.
