Conor McGuinness so record your voice and then create a copy of it and delay it by the smallest amount possible and then change the pitch and eq and reverb to your liking

Please make an updated tutorial of it! Im completely new to those types of computer apps and don't know how to mess with them. An in-dept, step-by-step tutorial would be very appreciated.
Hi mate, yes, you're right. Just to practice, I first downloaded the file to have your voice and focus on setting the T7 plugins correctly without having to say the text myself. But what you wrote her above is right. Above the differences that go with the different languages, the main difference is the kind of each voice. For example, mine is baryton, which means that the setiings - as you said, of your voice will never work with mine. Anyway, I succeeded in doing a Vader's voice not so bad, and now that I get my rack with every plugin set just fine for my voice, wether I speak french, spanish or english doesn't change anything because it's always my voice. Well, just a few adjustments for each language as I said before, but nothing as bigger as when you have to set the whole thing because you change from a tenor to a baryton voice for instance.
And here are my few observations on the work i've been doing with Darth Vader's voice. After having realize successfuly your tutorial with a pretyy good result, I started a new work to bring a bit of amusement to very dear friends of mine. And i decided to re use Vader's voice. And here are the interesting facts I observed. First : for Vader's voice, you absolutely must respect the way he talks, the rythm of his diction. If you do not, you will have, at best, an effect that sounds pretty similar, but with the sensation of a fabricated voice that tries to be like - which is not what we want. And the result is something - or someone, with a robotic voice, but not Vader. Second : if you succed in creating Vader's voice speaking english, it may happens that in an other languages - french and spanish in my case, the settings of the plugins are no longer suitable. As a matter of fact, I had to change almost every parameters of each plugins to succeed in creating again Vader's voice in french. Wondering why such a thing happens, my best guess is that every different language magnify specific frequencies, giving it it's very own noise footprint. And that's because of the very specific noise footprint of each language that the levels of each parameters in every plugins might be adapted. It seems to me that i got another point to share with all of you guys, but I don't remember it right now. Anyway, if I do, I'll be back. Good Vader guys!!
That's a very good observation. For a lot of vocal effects, the vocal performances makes a HUGE difference in how the final result sounds. This is especially true for Darth Vader. It's basically just James Earl Jones, with a comb filter on his voice. As for different plugin settings for different languages, it had never crossed my mind that different languages would magnify different frequencies, and thus require different EQ settings. But, it kind of makes sense. More likely, there are differences between different VOICES, which require different EQ settings. So if you just copied the EQ curve on my example, which was tailored to my voice, it would probably sound weird on your voice. That's why I try to teach people concepts, not settings. If people know how EQ works, they'll be able to set it to match their vocalist, rather than just trying to copy the plugin settings I'm using and being surprised when it doesn't work.
Been trying for about a week to recreate this in Audacity but it's pretty much impossible. Like, I'm able to get close to a Vader voice but it doesn't sound... "metallic" enough. Almost as if it's not coming from his helmet. Would it just be better to just install FL Studio and use the same effects?
Short delay times are your friend. I'm using a free 3rd party vst in this video, so use whatever you have access to. Maybe try adding a little delay feedback.

"imported your voice", meaning you downloaded the video file? Well, the raw recording was in mono. However, I added a reverb to the final recording, to put it in a space. And most software reverbs are in stereo. So that probably explains the stereo effect going on.

Very nice!! Is there a way to do this live without using this whole heavy processing software? It would be very useful and amazing to have a way to use this while playing a game and have it set to output as the mic input.
Not exactly. You can definitely set the output of a DAW to route to a voice chat with your friends. However, most options that let you use live effects with your friends are going to be "heavy." If you don't use a DAW, you can instead use a hardware effects processor (e.g. the TC-Helicon Perform VE), but they cost $200. You might be able to find cheaper hardware or software options, but they'll likely be very limited or poor quality.
Man honestly this tutorial is so confusing. If he didn't skip some parts, fast forwarded it at the end and explained what buttons he pressed to pop this and that up, as well as talking about how we can make this voice go live with our microphone, then it would have been a thumbs up from me
Not sure what parts you're referring to, but I fast-forwarded because the effect is literally the same whether it's being used on live audio or pre-recorded audio. Further, as my tutorials try to be platform-agnostic, it's not my responsibility to ensure you know how to use your DAW.

I work in FL Studio. However, the tutorial can be applied to any audio workstation, especially audition. All you need is a pitch shifter, a delay, an eq, a compressor, a de-esser, some kind of basic saturation or distortion plugin, and a reverb. Audition has all of those things.
@@tomosborne2926 If you noticed, the delay time was set to something like 7ms. If the audition delay can't go that short, then yeah, you can use ReaDelay. Audition supports 3rd party VST's easily enough.
Yo mate Here I am again. I have kept working on the vader's voice - l'll be describing the facts i noticed later on your channel, I think It might be interesting if not for you who may already know it, but mostly for other susbcribers I think. But my point today is that I notice that the track of your voice appears composed of two waves - like in stereo, while mine only displays one wave - i am using the very classic SM58. Does it means that the mic you used for Vader's tutorial is a stereo one and since i got only one wave, that the SM58 is mono?
Some of the plugins (e.g. ReaDelay) are 3rd party, so you can use them in any DAW with VST support. Others are FL-native (e.g. FL's equalizer) but Logic should have its own versions of those. Either way, you should be fine.

@@tomosborne2926 If you noticed, the delay time was set to something like 7ms. If the audition delay can't go that short, then yeah, you can use ReaDelay. Audition supports 3rd party VST's easily enough.
Yo mate
Here I am again.
I'm not sure what you mean by "two waves", but I'm using a mono microphone, my Behringer B-1.
Wow! This is awesome. Does anyone know if there is a tutorial on how to make this live?
Can you do a tutorial on how to do Proxy's voice from The Force Unleashed?
I don't know that voice
Do you have a separate video on how to use an effect live ?
I plan to. Not yet though.
Can I use the plugins in Logic Pro or only in FL Studio?
Some of the plugins (e.g. ReaDelay) are 3rd party, so you can use them in any DAW with VST support. Others are FL-native (e.g. FL's equalizer) but Logic should have its own versions of those. Either way, you should be fine.
And I thought I kept my hair tight so I don't have to use combs... tyvm! I need to make for my machinima Darth's voice and mini-me Lego Darth Vader's voice but higher, given he's just a mini-me Darth... I hope this works for me. Btw, don't use my idea, I want a unique Disney copyright strike even if I'm doing this for a non-commerical purpose. (Art Therapy).
You may ask, how does sound affect my visual art!? The senses follow the ears - (some famous cinematography guy).
That's very interesting! I'm glad my tutorial was able to help you with your project!
Hi there! I don't suppose you'd know how to do this using a live Mixer board? (GoXLR?) I am still new at all this, and trying to figure out if it is possible to use it on there. Though there's way more settings than I thought, and trying to follow in the tutorial (stupidity on my part) is much more difficult than I thought it would be! Any advice?
There may be an FX preset on there that resembles Darth Vader. However, a GoXLR doesn't give you the degree of customization that a DAW would.
@@ShallieDragon okay, thanks! I'll look into the software then, much appreciated!
Can this work for my mic in videogames?
Do you know how to do the rebels effect for vader? His voice sounds a bit different in rebels and I’m wondering how to recreate it? Would I just use more delay?
I haven't actually seen Rebels, so I can't really speak to that.
Hey, thanks for the info...I was able to recreate it using the same software you use after watching your video. I'd like to request a video of how you set-up using the effect live (the way you did at the end of the video but you went through it sooooo fast, I couldn't see HOW you did it. Can you show us? Thanks
The easy solution is to set the last part of the video to slow speed.
Is there some way to get this into a portable form for a costume?
They sell Darth Vader voice changers in stores I believe.
Unfortunately they are all crap
@@RevengeWP That stinks. I think there are ways to get audio processing onto something like a Raspberry Pi, but I'm really not sure how that would work.
Whats some good, free audio softwares other than audacity? I’ve been doing this for like a month and I can nail a Kylo voice well but only vader in Star Wars Rebels.
If you're on Mac, GarageBand is solid. If you're on Windows (or also if you're on Mac), you should check out Tracktion Waveform Free.
Preset for the Limiter "Darth Vader HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA"
I mean, I just tweaked the settings until they sounded good. It doesn't need much compression.
@@ShallieDragon It just made me lmao when I noticed the name you gave to the preset lol I enjoyed the video very much!
Hey I’m new to the channel is there a way of sounding like this on discord or Instagram on iPhone? I call my friends on them and I wanna sound like darth Vader for like roleplay or whatever sooo is there a way???
There is. I've never tried it, so I don't really know how.
What software do you use?
FL studio, but you can make this effect in any digital audio workstation.
Saludos desde Perú Hi5
it's impressive....but is it possible to be used by a Darth Vader cosplayer?
ReaDelay is not compatible with Mac, is there an alternative to this? (I use Logic Pro X btw)
Any delay plugin that can be set to 10ms or less. Or a flanger where you turn the LFO rate to zero.
Hey bud! Love your stuff here! Just subscribed. I do Darth Sidious. Learned a lot here as Darth Vader is coming to visit us and we just want to be prepared! Hope to see you soon some time :)
Glad you enjoyed it! Also please explain why Darth Vader is coming to visit.
@@ShallieDragon so we were told lol. We will be filming this. :)
@@TUBERSvr Sounds like a story. I'm curious.
@@ShallieDragon Yes, one we're a little nervous about. We're writing the plot today. He'res one we did a while ago to pay tribute to Carrie Fisher.

I'm sorry, it may sound stupid, but do we could turn female voice into Darth Vader? Thank you for the tutorial, it's amazing!
It's not stupid. You can use this effect on any voice. Don't be afraid to experiment, who knows what you might discover. :D
@@ShallieDragon Thank you ^_^
What sorfware that you are using to do this? can you do it more detail? CAUSE i'm just a beginner =(( and i don't know how to use reaper
In order for me to keep my tutorials platform-neutral, I don't really talk about specific plugins to use. Like, I say "EQ" instead of "Fruity Parametric EQ 2", because I don't want to give the impression that you need specific software to make the effect. Because in most cases, you don't.
I would encourage you to look up tutorials on Reaper, to help get you started. My tutorials kind of assume that you know how to use your own software.
what recording program are you using?
I use FL Studio, but this can be achieved with any digital audio workstation.
What native software do you use with the voxFX plugin? Thanks.
VoxFX is not a plugin. VoxFX is the name of my tutorial series. Also, I use FL Studio, but you don't have to use it to achieve this effect.
@@ShallieDragon
Thanks for answering. What version do you use FL Studio?
@@beatmaster8965 I use the FL Signature Bundle, but you'll need at least the Producer Edition to make this effect.
@@ShallieDragon Thanks friend, I will try and post the result!
@@beatmaster8965 for the record, you can use any digital audio workstation to make this effect. If you notice, the delay I used was a free 3rd party plugin, which can be used with any programs with VST support.
Huuu .. sorry to be such a noob on UA-cam .. but how do you do to send a PM? I mean just keep discussing points that are not relevant to be display here, but are important to me?
There's a link to my discord server in the description.
Can you tell me what software is that
You can recreate this in any digital audio workstation.
Is there a way to do Darth Vader voice with using VoiceMod or MorphVox? I been trying to create it but haven't really gotten it.
I don't have much experience with those programs. I might do a review of them down the road.
@@ShallieDragon Its cool appreciate you took the time answering tho, I been trying for a few time to get it to sound like vader but havent really gotten it yet thanks anyways.
What is the name of the program you used in the video? I tried to google VoiceFX, but I didn't find any downloads
I created it using FL Studio. However, you can create this effect in any Digital Audio Workstation. Indeed, the comb filter was created using a freeware delay plugin that I put a link to in the description.
@@ShallieDragon ok, thank you!
How we - you - can create a microchip ?
I have already the original quotes on a keyholder licenced, but I would like to be free to speak (not authorized by 501st Legion by the way 😔)
Thanks !
I can’t get ReaDelay to effect my wav file in FL Studio??
Might want to read the FL manual to see if you have your 3rd party plugins set up correctly. Or just ask on the Image Line forums.
Is the do able in real time or is this post
You can do either
Btw can you find me any tutorial for how to make my sound like cute reall girl because I can't make it through the yt videos I saw plz
Because I want to troll players in valorant😂
Do i need the full version of FL Studio?
No, unless you want to be able to load the project again after you close it.
I am 100% noob to this software and didnt understand how to do this live :p
Yeah I think I might do a tutorial about live effect processing at some point.
ok What is the program u maked everything on ?
I used FL Studio. But this effect can be achieved using any digital audio workstation.
