So many popular car build channels are just about the youtuber, mostly talking, clout chasing, sponsorships and general drama with some shallow build coverage. You guys aren't afraid to get technical, show us you actually working, take us slowly through the build and your decisions, without any fake drama and filler. Please don't change. Thankyou, and keep up the great content 👍🏽
It's neat to see a whole different catalog of parts being used on an S-chassis. You stated your goals for the car and the parts used really fit that plan. The monochrome exterior looks great as well - the calipers even add to the look. Excited to see where this goes. And lol at DP in the background of the timelapse handling bidness.
PT is really re-verifying on what made the S chassis so well loved. it was easy to work on and really custom tailor to your driving needs. also roll center adjusters help combat bumpsteer.
Big tire good, small tire bad. It's a stunning car and looks like an absolute pleasure to work on. Everything I've worked on has been in the midwest and been pummeled with salt.
People need to chill and just enjoy the video who cares if he saids cheap s15 if people feel like they are being misled cause he saids cheap s15 then they need to go watch something else…cars at this level are not as what some say is cheap and cheap is based on the builder your cheap is different from my cheap…just enjoy the free video and great content you guys are getting…
Great series. When you mentioned the specs of the front rim/tyre combo I was like 'this is going to be interesting'. Made it work, just hope you dont get any rub! The main wiring loom is right there above the drivers side wheel (you can see where as the inner fender liner dips down). They always tend to get rubbed through and then it gets a bit risky. Relatively easy mod to move the loom out of the way though.
Wheels look good. Brakes look great. Ride height... Ehh, that's a matter of opinion. I do love it when form follows function - if you increased the function of this vehicle by dropping the height, then more power to ya! What I'm really impressed with is how well you guys have the video quality down. You've become so much more fun to watch as the years go on.
HOLLY SMOKES!!! Had to pause the video and look in detail all the suspension/brake parts you're dropping on this beauty....... I'm still in awe! So this is CHEAP build? .... can anyone tell me what an expensive one looks like? maybe buying a chiron to fit it in a VW beetle I guess LOL Love it!
I would agree. I haven't run ST's on my car, I have KW V2, but I know some people that have various levels of ST coilover on their cars, and they have great things to say about them. Side by side with a KW and you can see the similar quality.
Tbh, I'm so jealous of this content and what you guys can do. I've had my S chassis for over 10 years, tracking it, building it up with what I could afford and daily driving...I would never have imagined I could afford to do these things...although I have always planned to. I will continue to watch with envy lads, keep it up.
Just want to comment on how much I enjoy your show. Production value always top notch, prob the best in the business. I know that making this highly produced series is not easy, and I really do enjoy it. Also DP, get out of the shot while office working, hahaha , i know you are working, but I dont know, Pete seems to be doing all the heavy lifting here.. haha.
Love the attention to detail in all of SA's builds. I feel like I learn something important every time I watch. Something Yuri from The Straight Pipes once said, sticks in my head though. "Black wheels don't look good unless you've got lots of tire-shine." I actually don't know if I 100% agree with that (but I kind of do). And seeing lots of chipped and scrapped black wheels on the streets of NYC make me think an unpainted silver wheel is classic and will hold up better over time?
sounds boring, if the car looks good on black wheels then that's what it needs , some people like that stealth look without having a black car, also when you dont like the face of the wheel or trying to show off the brakes black wheels are the best ...showing off your paint job ,black wheels force people to take note of it .
@@christopherdaniel6142 I totally hear what you're saying. I actually AM a little boring if I'm honest. haha. I guess I feel like there's a similar effect going on with black wheels as with matte finish wraps and paint jobs. When everything is "fresh from the detailer" perfect, then it's all beautiful. But when things get a little grungy from driving/parking outside/life then the drop off in looks is more severe than with some more boring options. Anyway, I think we all agree though, this car looks really good. I'm just fussing over some details. But hey, every comment adds to SA's bottom line, right?
@@christopherdaniel6142 my counterargument is that black wheels hide the detailing of the wheel design in most cases, which is half the reason people get different wheels to begin with. Black wheel, black tire sidewall, black-looking shadow of the wheel well... in anything other than nearly-direct light, black wheels tend to melt into an amorphous blob of "nothing" inside the fender, and end up looking like a Star Wars landspeeder with pieces missing instead of a car on wheels. You lose the spoke shape, convexity (or not) of the wheel face, and detailing like the side-milling on the spokes that has become more common these days. For most dark grays like anthracites and gunmetals, those details are still visible. The only exceptions to this rule of thumb for me are wheels with a silver or polished lip and a chunky, simple spoke design (because it reflects some light back onto the wheel spokes, and there isn't much detailing to lose from the spokes... maybe? I'm not sure why 😂). E.g. Porsche Fuchs with black centers and silver lips (see: 16x7.5 or 8 front and 16x9 rear fitment such as on a 930 turbo), Work Meister S1 with black center and polished lips, Fikse FM-5, stuff like that. More spokes (e.g. BBS LM or FIkse FM-10) I'd prefer dark gray over black. But that's just my opinion, and stylistic opinions are subjective. Do your car how you like it 😁
I love what you guys do, excellent content. This car looks incredible! All your builds are amazing. Such great peeps and so informative. Thank you for what you do!
Awesome videos! Love the high qaulity footage to see how all of the components SHOULD go compared to the one we've recently picked up. Thanks and look forward to catching up on the rest of the series. x
I have 9.5 inch wide wheels and 245/40's on my Forester X. It pokes about the same amount and has about a inch gap. Sometimes I wish it was slammed with the wheels tucked a bit into the wheel wells but as I get older it has become function over looks. I still fill the rear with crap sometimes and so far have had no rubbing issues.
It looks really modern to me, it's a great combination of colors that works. The Blitz badge would be killer in a bright color (acid green or anything that pops).
Might have gone with a staggered stance 235’s up front if it’s predominantly street use. But the rest looks to be ‘Hamilton spec’ ride height and spring rates. Nice!
This car looks amazing! I wish we got these in North America but I guess left hand drive will have to do. You guys are building the S15 and Tony Angelo is building an S13, and I'm super stoked on it. Silvia > GTR Yeah I said it lol.
Looks great PT! Amber fender marker draws the eye a bit. Good call on losing the oe 3rd brake light wing, cleans it up very nicely. Not a fan of the front license plate mount molded in, could never be worse than the ‘99 rx7 one though. Great work as ever guys!
I was skeptical about the deleted center mount, as the third pillar and triangular brake light are somewhat styling calling cards for the Spec-R, but after seeing it here, it does look cleaner (and I imagine less draggy, at least a little bit, and smoother airflow on the working side of the wing: the underside)
Looks great. My only concern is potential paint burn on the front fenders- would be a shame to blemish such a nice paint job. Perhaps a staggered set up would have been a better call. 18x8.5 w/+15? Love your builds!
You guys have a lot different definition of "cheap" than most of us! Think you're going to have to do something with those front wheels though because they're going to hit. Beautiful car though and great work.
In the previous video, he mentioned that the "cheap" describes the initial purchase of the car itself. What happens after that, well obviously not as cheap... which come to think of it, describes some of my own car purchases😆
Nice build! Love the body kit. I would consider chucking a disco potato on it (GT2860RS) with the larger rear housing. You will still have very good spool but better top end. Looks basically identical to stock turbo too.
The GT2860RS is practically tailor-made for the SR20DET, but I imagine the newest generation of turbos would perform even better (billet wheels, better ball bearings) and can probably be spec'ed to nearly an identical size.
@@jsquared1013 your are correct re later generation turbos being better. Not sure if any are direct bolt on though. I personally had both the potato and gt2871r on my s15 many moons ago, both great for stock look, performance and cost.

Pete in "it's perfect" shocker!
Love this series. I feel you guys would do a Toyota Altezza build justice.
YES THIS ☝🏼
Agreed!!!
Altezza vs IS300 build series, maybe a Gita vs Sportcross....
One of the best looking coupes. Right after the FD.
Man you guys are blessed working on this car! You get a clean, rust free car and just get to wrench in Dreamland!
Can't believe how clean that is underneath, almost no rust
A tip for the ball joint remover- once it gets tight enough just whack it with a hammer, that'll break the tension and release it.👍
The rear is perfect, might have to figure something out for the front
I LOVE the look of it. Height, wheels, tire size, everything. Great job.
PT is really re-verifying on what made the S chassis so well loved. it was easy to work on and really custom tailor to your driving needs. also roll center adjusters help combat bumpsteer.
You guys literally are working on my dream car since I was 8. One day I'll be able to own and give my S15 this level of love and care.
I'm watching PT maneuvering those coil overs around the arches with bated breath hoping he doesnt nick the fresh paint... nerves of steel!
I swear these videos are so informative and low key ASMR as well - great job fellas!
Beautiful car guys! The s15 is the best of the s chassis! Black wheels isnt my fav, but it still looks good!

@@speedacademydave when you find a car in good condition, it's hard not to run wild with the budget on top-shelf parts 😁😁
🔥 color combo and ride height are perfect. Though the front wheels and tires could be smaller to match the amount of poke the rears have.

Good choice on the ST coils, im very happy with mine aswell. You just know that you get a good KW coil just for a little cheaper

The hardrace b-roll with all the other brakes and suspension components.🤤

Nice!! Love Hardrace parts, that’s what I have all on my Integra GSR.
That stance is just right for my taste. Subtle and practicle
Looks great gents! But Connie and the Porche in the back are pulling my interest 👀 can't wait to see them on the channel more!
