Thanks for this. I only wanted to get to the hard disks so I can read them on a portable docking station on a newer [3XS] laptop. This has been very helpful.
Recently I bought this model. The issue was the video card was broken. So imagine I had to dissassembly all the notebook to replace the video card. Thanks for sharing. I found that keyboard has not lights, but it has small conector for leds. Maybe I will buy a replacement.
@@juanramirezmen1182533000 video literally shows this step-by-step since 11:00 mark. Best card to use in this thing, while retaining 3D Vision support and managing (barely) with such a pathetic cooling- Quadro M4000M. Specifically Quadro, NOT GeForce and definitely not Tesla. On Maxwell 3D Vision is available exclusively with Quadro cards and their older Quadro drivers. Starting from Pascal, 3D is removed completely. If you do not care about 3D, then find yourself an legit MSI GTX 1060 or HP Quadro P3200. Or even Quadro RTX3000, if you have the money. Pure UEFI boot is highly recommended for card upgrade. As for CPU, 3632qm is the only recommended option, once again because of terrible cooling. For RAM, you can freely use 2x8Gb 2133 sticks, they will work fine with i7 IVB.
I have an x870 with wobbly screen hinges. Your video showed the hinges, but not in detail. Seems the 2 outside rear screws that secure the bottom- also secure the hinges. I pulled the rubber bungs and found the screws were loose. Tightened them both up- but only one side got fixed, right hinge is still wobbly. Are more that these 2 screws holding the screen hinges down- that I have to remove the keyboard surround to access? Please show/ explain.
Sup! I was visiting this video for something I needed and saw your comment. This channel doesnt really respond to comments apparently, sorry :( This model computer does not have a CMOS battery. Not all motherboards do :( Why are you looking for it? What are you needing help with?
Can't thank you enough for this detailed video. Thanks to you, I now know how to open it up the rest of the way and where the other two RAM slots are so I can upgrade my RAM when I do. Is there anything else besides the RAM and storage that can be upgraded while I am at it?
Thanks for the detailed disassembly video! I am in the process of replacing my heat sink assembly

Also have a wobbly screen, need to try to tighten mine now.
@@Ronin7477 I solved by buying the entire bottom part
Thanks for the video. Anyone knows the thickness of those thermal pads ? I've mistakenly gotten rid of mine before measuring'em.
Where is the CMOS battery located? Is it the 3 volt 2032 button battery?
