The movie shows excellent kung-fu and Tai Chi techniques in somptuous decor. The only problem is the discriminate aspect which continually depicting Chinese superiority over Japanese folks. I am a Wushu, Kung-fu - Tai Chi master but I always respect the two nations.
I guess that what we see here stems from how the Chinese were treated by the Japanese during WW-II when Manchuria was taken over by Japan, many war crimes were committed by them in China. That was also the time when Japanese started suppressing Chinese martial arts in that region and wherever they went to show that Japanese martial arts like Karate, Aikido, Judo, Jiu-jutsu, Aikijujutsu, Kendo etc, were superior to Chinese martial arts. The first martial arts movie that we can recall when talking about this period is Bruce Lee's "fist of fury". The fact remains that Chinese Kung fu is at the root of Japanese arts like Karate (which originated in Okinawa, Kung-fu passed on by some masters to the Okinawans and eventually making its way to Honshu and other islands of Japan), Kenpo (literally Japanese for "Kung-fu") etc. So historically speaking, when the Japanese had taken over Manchuria, they were trying to suppress local martial arts like Kung-fu, so that leads us to ask the question, how can "daughter martial arts" be superior to their "mother" which is in this case "Kung-fu", surely by this I do not degrade the effectiveness of Japanese martial arts but with regard to the diversity of techniques, Kung-fu looks cooler and more interesting aside from the intricacies of the techniques themselves. For Japanese martial artists, connecting with Kung-fu is to connect with the roots of their own martial art whether it is Karate or Kenpo, this historically, has been the reason why Japanese Karate masters and other martial artists have shown interest in Chinese Kung-fu, to reconnect to that root is an enriching, enlightening experience which has been lost in interpretation of the moves in the modern Japanese martial art forms themselves because of later interpretations of the Bunkai or techniques. Sure, karate and other Japanese martial arts are also effective and powerful but Kung-fu is richer in the diversity of fighting techniques.
@@veritasardens6547 Very good observations, though I beg to differ. Chinese martial arts have not evolved much except perhaps like Shiou Jiow or Chinese wrestling. I reckon it was bcoz of Confucian value system where Chinese martial arts respected an opponents personal Space more than that of other martial Arts. Note that Korea which was also heavily influenced by Confucianism also had little Wrestling or throws.. my 2 cents worth.:-)
I don't mean to be rude but Japanese are not so scared easily like the british, you'd think the solderies would change their clothes so as not to get caught by stealing them from civilians.
Interesting but unrealistic. I love watching Chinese movies, having lived there, mostly for the scenery, houses and buildings, it's nostalgic for me, I really miss it. These stories, however, I always find amusing at how they always show the Chinese as morally correct, better fighters, more courageous, more intelligent and quite basically better human beings. It's a form of propaganda to show the people that they are the best. Apart from that, I really miss China, not for the politics, but for the place and the friends I made there. It's a pity we can't see whole movies instead of just clips.
there's no need to use foul language grow up, you have the right to your opinion even if we don't agree with it but speak nicely you don't have to use that type of language and that's my opinion
You have to train basic fighting techniques, guard n more striking from tai boxing or whatever combat striking art suits you. But it makes you a much better martial artist, moving, generating power, sensitivity and sense of rythm all are taken to another level if you practice it for fighting and train serious. It's practicing and perfecting the pure core of all martial arts for its own sake. But if you train it seriously with combat in mind and make sure you add the basics from MMA like I explained, it's amazing, find yourself moving to stop an attack before they've started moving! It takes serious study and practice but it can still make a fighter much more effective fairly quick. Try it, you'll be glad you discovered it for yourself my friend. 1 luv frae🏴✌️

Agree, propaganda at its finest. In-accurate and stupid
.
So only chinese use propaganda but other cultures nooo they dont. It's not like other cultures appropriated what was originally chinese. Noooo
