You cant save states on c64. Anyway I was wrong. Played it recently on PC via C64 emulator.. there is a God mode. Thats how this screenplay/capture is made also I guess.
@@OrdinaryHandsome Longplay uses a way to play frame by frame I believe. But as someone who played this as a kid I got nervous a couple times even in this longplay XD
I used to love this game, but man, it was rock. I got to the third level once. As I watch this video, in my mind I hear the sound of ripping suckers, as I wrench my Quickshot 1 off my desk, in an attempt to duck under a sudden incoming bullet. Good times. Great tunes from Martin Galway.
As many of the comments here... It was damn hard to go through, and I spend hours just to complete one level. That was the charm of those days arcade games, we couldn't cheat, as they do now a days. What a nostalgic moment to watch. Thank's for sharing this moment with us.
I can remember playing this on my commodore when I was 14/15, and I have to say, I have not played a harder, ruthlessly unforgiving game as green beret before or since, on any other console...great game, don't get me wrong, but my god was it difficult!!!
This was the best game I played. I did complete it after about 8 months of trying when I was 17. I had made it a matter of pride! I can't believe the stamina I had then.
+Ben Sheffy its emulation, he just goes back (save and load) a few seconds every time he gets hit, and if u play it all the way in this matter, it looks like you played a perfect game, its pretty lame if u ask me
@@WillScarlet1991 game wasn't easy to play. But when you play it 100s and 100s times, like I did back in the days and with the right joystick (QuickShot II or III), it wasn't as hard. And you can use special weapins to clean the floor - flamethrower, bazooka and gand-grenades.....
+Rheinmetall1 its emulation, he just goes back (save and load) a few seconds every time he gets hit, and if u play it all the way in this matter, it looks like you played a perfect game, its pretty lame if u ask me
I finished the game affter many hours of playing, when i was younger, in the 80ties, but probably not with one life. I could do it if using an emulator with savestates, which i suspect has been happen here 😉
Yes, I noticed that too. It is very strange that none of the enemies fired one single shot from the rifle towards the back of the player's character. I remember it was the most common and annoying way to loose life in this game - a shot in the back, from close distance.
+taffelost its emulation, he just goes back (save and load) a few seconds every time he gets hit, and if u play it all the way in this matter, it looks like you played a perfect game, its pretty lame if u ask me
This was indeed a very good game at the time and is still very playable today, I made it to Level 3 after hours of playing as a ten year old. To pass the entire game without using a second life is really impressive.
I am suspicious of the fact that next to nobody is shooting at him ... my game is much more difficult than this. They'll stop an inch before I get to them and shoot sometimes ... got to have lightning evasive reactions (or anticipate it).
Johan Moller is just AMAZING. This video is basically machine territory performance. It is highly optimized. He doesn't waste any time killing unnecessarily etc. Amazing, amazing, amazing... Truly refined... Beat this and you're the Terminator. 6:30 for the whole Green Beret. WOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!
Man, this game frustrated me so much when I was a kid. I thought it was the hardest C64 game ever, and it might well be (at least from the games that I played).
It was possible tostuck the guy in the air using the second joypad (don't remember which angle). It was the safest way to pass the end of the level with the dogs.
The video is an emulation. This game was insanely hard and super frustrating. I only made it to part 3 "Bridges" a few times ever and died shortly after.
Amazing run... I've finished this game once-when I was kid and with trainer ,,unlimited lifes'' because it was really hardcore to finish it... (Sry for eng)
yeah, me too. i remember i died over and over again at some parts. M.F anoying. i was cursing and swearing all over the place. this guy just runs through the game. must have played this this a million times. greetings from holland

Christ, this game used to fucking wind me up. I thought it was a cool game so persevered without smashing my C64 to bits. but I don't think I ever got past the second level. Fucking wind up!! :D :-/
Eh 4:00 green flying kick parachute man when he lands turns in to a green version of the white hat weapon drop man, and turns back to normal green flying kick man when he does what he does best.
I played it as Rush 'N' Attack. Surprised no mention of the company that originally made this (Konami) in the opening credits. I got to the POW camp level...three times....that's as close as I got.
Hats off to anyone who completed this. I must have spent most of my childhood trying to get to level two!
I did ! I genuinely did finish it. Probably the highpoint of my life, nothing i've done since has capped that achievement :)
Lol, me too.
This is a blast from the past.
Only ever got to level two as a kid. I cheesed the first boss fight by shimmying myself mostly off the screen to avoid the jumping enemies.
@@DavidRomigJr it was all about the timing and usig special weapons....
That siren as you start running...takes me right back to my childhood. Amazing.
3 levels of Green Beret without a single life lost.. incredible.

One of the hardest game ever made 3 lives no continues whatsoever, if you die start at the very beginning no bullshit in typical 1980's style.
This game and "Aztec Challange" where the most difficult games I remember playing as a kid back in the 1980's
One of the first games I got and loaded up on my Commodore 64.
Man even getting off Level 1 made my childhood. Seeing this just blew my mind! SKILL!
years of my life on this game and you made it look easy

Yep... this was one the hardest... and i never understood i had just to run forward without taking care of the enemies behind. What an idiot. :D

He's costantly running, doesn't give enemies time to shoot
Ah the memories
Thanks for uploadin this. Its been 20+yrs since i seen this game again.
I broke so many joysticks on this game.
i remember playing this on the Famicom in the name of rush'n attack.
A ruddy difficult game to even get beyond level 1!
I loved this game. 'Twas super challenging.
Wow that intro music and the sirens: big smile! 😊
whoever is playing this is a CYBORG.... I mean it....its not human...incredible....well done ....
Could never get past the Bridge level.

Dream performance!
If those captives had relied on me, they would still be waiting :-)
This game was ridiculously difficult. Memories.
one of the best games!
played it a billion times...and it was really hard
This year marks 25 years of this great game.
Respect, The parachute bombers used to kill me, never went past them
the skill on this guy. never seen so far in game.
Yeah and after all that mystery ahead, you then find out it was only 3 levels.
HAHAHA! This badass takes down gyrocopter attack wave with a knife.
So this guy is hunted by the villag people!
its probably tool assisted by the way! but yeah great upload. I love to watch through old C64 games. Nostalgia.
Well played! Astounding! Never made it to the end of stage 3, myself; not even with unlimited lives! ;)
Oh snap. I didn't know that Rush n Attack for Nes was this game one C64 before the Nes release.
