Not quite true. They have the correct seal for larger cessnas. The u channel is slightly larger on the 170, 172, and 182. In that case you need to go through Great Lakes Aero for seal. Otherwise the uxcell tape mentioned in this video works fine for the 150 line.
Found your video, thanks. I'm assuming this will work for my 172 as well. You drilled out the rivets on the 2 hinges from the door? I tried pushing the hinge pin out, and can't get them to budge. Thanks!
@@Outbound300 Do you mind sharing where you bought them and approximate cost? I know it's been 4+ years, but I'm just trying to get a ballpark $#.. Knots2U only has 0.100 thickness. Your thoughts?
How do you remove the window from the door? Do you drill out the rivets and then have to rivet it back? If so what kind of rivet gun tool do I use? What size rivets?
Yes, you'll need to drill out the rivets. To rivet back, you can use pull/pop rivets. You don't need to use any special aviation rivets if you don't want to.
@@Outbound300 Help me understand. Is this something you can do on your own, not an A/p? looking at an 172 that needs all new windows. Can I just not do the windshield on my own? Or can I do it and just pay for an inspection?

Thank you! I’m in the process of replacing my Pilot side window on my 172D right now. Very, very helpful.
You are very welcome!
Followed your method; worked beautifully! Thanks man! I appreciate the help.
Awesome video! Thank you. Please share where you bought your windows.
Great Lakes Aero has proper U channel seal

Hello!
Thanks for posting the video as well as the tape you used.
May I ask where you ordered your window from?
Great video man. Thanks.
Genius! Thank you!
Really great video. Is it possible to replace the window with the frame attached to the aircraft?
I highly doubt it. It would be quite difficult.
Great video. Thank you. Would you mind being more specific on the tape you use? Maybe post a link to it on Amazon? Thx.

It should be similar for 172 and yes, I drilled out the hinge rivets and re-riveted when done with pop rivets.
I took off the pilot side window off of my 172D yesterday and it looks exactly like that in the video.
Great video, thank you! So no issues caused by all that soapy water down in the tight seal within the frame? Rust/corrosion?
of course not, its going to dry our very quickly.
Have you ever converted a non opening window to an opening window door ?
Hi, did you use polycarbonate instead of Acrlylic? What thickness? Great video!!
Yes, I used polycarbonate
