Dude I want to rebuild my engine as much as possible to keep in engine bay , pretty sure want to get near to pistons and change gaskets there probably bit clearing up, before I get there my camshaft bouth intake and exchaust is pointing up and Im about to put that camshaft lock but my TDC doesnt match up shuld I be worried about? What can u recommend ? Because if i set TDC than I could not lock camshaft to get any further.. can I spin gear 2 full laps and it will balance in place on TDC and where camshafts lock goes in ? Thank you, please help me bruhh first rebuild ..

Vanos does not do that much travel. But yes that is the correct way to do it. I actually test them with air and there is a bmw spec that you can measure vanos travel off ✌️✌️✌️
