    I know this feeling of accomplishment. i too have spent countless hours tinkering with many engines and there is nothing that compares to the satisfaction in your heart after seeing all your efforts make such a huge difference in this new "piece of art" as my dad would tell me growing up back when I would buy an e30 for 1000 bucks, and do exactly what you are doing. taking every individual piece and making it spotless, because of the love. keep on loving brother! 🤙🏻

    There’s that S52 content! Excellent work on the restoration, that was a ton of wire wheeling. Lots of satisfying ratcheting too. I love my power tools but manually ratcheting just feels right. Engine looks mint.

    Was this a known 100% good engine? I'd be worried about timing chain wear, cam/crank wear, and piston ring wear. Head gasket failures have plagued two of my BMWs. You're a few steps away from taking the whole thing apart, getting it cleaned, machined, painted, and reassembled! No, not a "few" steps really, but with the work it takes to install an engine, why not fully rebuild it while it's like this?

    • @ChromaticGarage
      @ChromaticGarage  2 роки тому

      I had it compression tested before doing this. I’d say I’m quite far from doing all of that, would be a little extra at this point. But I’m sure I’ll do that to another engine soon

    Also a steel wire is not suffecient at getting all the corrosion of, the correct method would be blasting.
    Also 2K paint is reccomended, the one you used wont last if it sees fuel or oil...

      @@ChromaticGarage No problem. I have only watched Ford, Chevrolet or even VW engine restoration videos but no one of BMW videos. Is nice to see something new. 👌🏻 Greetings from Mexico City 🇲🇽

    But nah on a real this channel is always sick asf and I love watching them

    Why Socket 11? Not 10?

      I’m assuming because it was an 11 and not a 10?
