He's got a unique way of greeting the people. Paul Anka is one of my favorite singers but I didn't ever know that he could play well too. I love the 60's too.
This is my second time watching this episode . But i dont mind because its a fun show. I love how Paul Anka plays the game. APPARENTLY this particular episode aired on 7/7/67. That was my birthday. I turned 18 that day.
I love Allen Luden; so much charm and charisma and the way he swings his microphone around at the entrance, I think thats a prop he never really uses or we don’t see him attach it anyway. He would be popular even in today’s chaotic and brutal world.
His hair he said used to go in like 5 different directions. He said it took a lot to get it calmed down. He also had to lose 35 lbs and have a nose job before he got famous. He talked about how he had to look like a celebrity to be one. He is still alive. He’s Canadian and his parents immigrated from Lebanon and his dad from Syria. They’re Christian
She *was* cool about it - She kept her composure & poise. Paul fancied her too-You could see it in expressions & gestures when they got a correct answer. When they switched sides Paul gazed over that direction towards Sue and when she left he watched her walk away. They were definitely compatible & cute together, but Paul was a married man. Game over. 😲🥴
*"Bien venue" for "Welcome." I don't think this expression has been anglicized. What if someone had said, "Wilkommen"? Or would that have been too close to the English word? More general question: Would it be allowed to use foreign words/phrases that most Anglophones know?*
Normally Paul Anka, on previous years of Password was very good. This episode he was waaaay off his game. I think maybe about halfway thru the episode I saw the reason why (maybe?) When they came back from a commercial break, he was wearing glasses while chatting with A.L.. As soon as he heard the announcer, Paul grabbed his glasses off his face and hid them under the desk. Later - he held the P-W holder right up to his face and tilted it toward the lights. I think he was having sight/reading problems but did not want his girlie fans to see the eyeglasses. {Kinda silly considering that he was married by then, so he did should have got rid of the vanity and went for practicality.} Then, even though he was from Canada, he seemed to not know anything about snow skiing. Maybe he never went skiing. 🤔 But he should have not acted as if the contestant was stupid simply because HE was ignorant. A "mogul" or mogol is/are bumps on a ski slope. They are formed by skiers doing a bunch of "S" turns going down the slope in the fresh snow powder. Then overnight a freeze happens and those "S" turns made by many skiers the previous day turn hardened and become little frozen snow hills.
Paul used to give all of his fans kisses. I bet a couple of cold sores and a wife later he dropped that whole thing! I’m sure he wanted to give her a little kiss tho.
Paul IS a very good player, which is why I think he intentionally flubbed about two rounds with his red haired partner. One was when she was giving a clue where the answer was daughter, she gave son as the clue and he answered moon I think, and after another round of clues she said boy and he said ‘girl when it was really fairly obvious at that point because of the answers and clues given by Phyllis and her partner that the answer was daughter. He was just being a shit. Same thing happened for another round when he was giving the clues and he gave a stupid clue twice. His first clue was ‘new’ for the word ‘breed’. New breed? there’s no strong well known connection between new and breed yet he gave it two times in a row, which only a really stupid player would do. And he’s not, I’ve watched him too many times. He was doing it because he was pissed off at the beginning of that game because she gave the clue mogul as a clue for slope, which she said was a term used among skiers for a slope🤷♂️. Then she tactlessly said after they lost that round to Phyllis’ team - and I’m pretty sure she wasn’t intentionaIly trying to be insulting - I’m sorry you being a well travelled person I thought you’d have known that🙄 You could see in his face he really wasn’t happy about that remark at all and it was directly after that that he suddenly became very stupid for a couple of rounds, and though he relented after that they ultimately still lost to Phyllis’ team. Paul was generally a very nice guy, but for a little while on that episode he was being a little vindictive to that contestant.
I love the way Alan Luden greets the panel and the audience when he comes out. He is so gracious. Paul Anka is such a doll. Always loved this show.

Check out all the well dressed people in the audience.
Wasn't contestant Connie on the show before, maybe when it was still produced in B&W? She looks familiar, especially with that hairdoo.
I spotted her in Password from 1967-07-10. 🤔
That blonde woman is crushing on Paul and trying very hard to be cool about it..I could be wrong!

Phyllis was smart too.
I wonder if she was a fan of his back in the day…
That blonde looked like Tina Cole !
Yep
Where was password filmed because a lot of the contestants come from New Jersey!
Back then in New York.
I thought many of these words were hard.
🦉 You are so right ! Some of them l was shocked when they were able to get them. 🦋
You can hear his voice starting to change a little bit.
Did Paul appear in any more episodes of Password?
several earlier ones.
Is it Dr. Reason A. Goodman?

Really racist about the turban being a towel and why they wear it. Couldn't get away with that today.
It is NOT "racist" to tell the truth about things, people, cultures and a certain religion.
