    Hi @chunbuns!! You’re awesome for sharing all this info thank you :) question below ⬇️
    Given the circumstances with Covid-19 and having to switch over to online learning, which boot camps would you suggest? Could you let me know which ones below are the top two i should consider regardless of price.
    1. Design lab
    2. Springboard
    3. Tradecraft
    4. Careerfoundry
    5. Bloc
    6. Flatiron school
    Also, do you suggest a 3 month or 6 month bootcamp?

    Thanks for the info, I am a 9 year Career Web Designer/FrontEnd Dev> I was just admitted into GA NYC for the UX Full-time class. I walked away from a Dead end 9 to 5 for this opportunity...well after not being able to find a job for 4 months because of the quick evolution of Web Design branching off into UI/UX etc.. Hoping this will help supplement my career! I'll probably start updating my portfolio after my 3rd project. I have already been in communication with Job recruiters who are aware I am in this program... Maybe I will move back to Florida... of heck maybe colorado, austin, dallas or North Cali.

      @@noelle5128 Thanks for checking back in :) It went great actually. I was at the NYC Campus, Not to mention all the fun we have along the way. I took two courses in a row which I don't recommend. UX Immersive and WebDev Immersive. UX was by far the most fun. My instructors were all aces in the craft and really receptive and strategic with the students. I would definitely recommend to newcomers to be prepared to make the class your life when starting it and to keep your skills fresh, up to date, and polished throughout the job-seeking process. I was hired and had a job waiting for me before graduating from the second class. I was pretty fortunate.

And you pre-pay a lot of mentor sessions at the price of $100 each time (This is how I break down their fee) Instead I would recommend a RookieUp starter kit (49$ for a whole lot of reading materials) and hire a mentor once you need it ($25+ each session). 1. in my country, just getting a salary of 500$ is already very happy, the standard salary in my country is 200$ -300$ 🤣
    2. now I have to raise about 5-10 years to reach 10.000$, to join bootcamp for about 1 month 🤣
    3. and ux designer salary in this country is only 400$ - 800$ 🤣

      It took me a month. I made sure to focus on updating my portfolio before applying to jobs, which I think helped me to focus on the content of my work, ultimately getting me more job interviews. Everyone's path is different and there are different factors that can influence your job search (ie. job postings fluctuate throughout the year depending on seasons, etc)

    • @chunbuns
      @chunbuns  6 років тому +6

      I generally don't recommend virtual courses for UX but with any courses/bootcamp/institutions, it's what you make of it that will help you grow and learn. With that said, pick the option that makes the most sense for you and just make sure to do a lot of outside learning as well (ie. connecting with other designers and asking them what tools you need to know how to use, their go-to resources, etc.) I wrote a Medium post on some good resources as well: blog.usejournal.com/ux-design-resources-every-beginner-should-know-4fd2d4fde41b

    Please help me (pour your suggestions as I am lost now). I am a Pharma graduate (B.pharm and MBA) and have 3 years of experience as Business Analyst in Pharma consulting and then I took 5 year break as I was in US and was on dependent visa and couldnt work. Last year, I moved to Canada and thought of doing web development (My husband is a senior developer(senior Architect). so I got influenced by him and thought I could do this. I joined a bootcamp (studied JS basics in order to join this) and learned full stack in Nov 2018. I dragged through out the bootcamp. After Finishing the bootcamp, I took a break of 1 month and went to my home country and forgot most of the things.. When I came back I started learning... I realized that I suck at Back end and may b I can learn Front End. I started from the basics and did the Odin Project which help me learn the basics. Still I am not comfortable with JS. I literally become so anxious while doing coding. I enjoy simple HTML and CSS but when it comes complex logic, I become anxious and frustrated. Now I am so lost, sometime I feel I should do some thing creative like UX/UI designer. OR I should do some Market analyst diploma (which matches my prior experience). and some time I feel I should go back to my learning and excel in JS. I am so lost and depressed. I am not working and feel like I am not good enough. What should I do. I am not sure if I go UX/UI design route, then how competitive it would be and what are the job opportunities for this. I find that In Canada(I live in Toronto), Junior web developer market is oversaturated and then demand is way less than supply for junior roles.
    Please suggest. Thanks
