I'm so happy I came across your channel. I am thinking of starting my UX UI journey with DesignLab and it is super helpful to see your experience with the program
Thanks for sharing Emily ☺️ if you’re interested, I just applied to partner with DL to see if I can get a discount code or affiliated link the other day! I’ll share it as soon as they’re finished reviewing my application 😆😭🙏🏻
Zeit means time in German. I'm really grateful for you sharing this. I'm in the Univers cohort and am middle of Capstone 3 at the moment, but I've been doing part time as I still work full time. I've enjoyed my time at UX Academy but I was one of those people that changed their mentor part way through Phase 2. Nothing was wrong but my mentor took a bunch of time off to go through some interviews for a new job so I figured it'd be best to just switch so I didn't fall behind. They made it really easy and the process was smooth. Going to watch your second month video now! I'll shoot you a slack message and LinkedIn request!
Really insightful I just enrolled in design 101 starting next week and will transition to ux academy course after so this is really exciting thank you!
Hi Estie! Thank you so much for sharing this! I just finished my Design101 course at Designlab a few days ago. And I'm going to start the UX academy this Oct. The workload you've been dealing with sounds quite overwhelming, haha. I love love to see your next videos as well! :D
i luv these ux bootcamp videos!! i couldnt find many videos besides chunbuns before i started my bootcamp at springboard last month U_U ... lol good luck on completing ur bootcamp! esketittt
I’m officially enrolled in the ux foundations course starting September 7th and looking forward to starting Ux Academy afterwards. Could you do a video about your experience during Ux Foundations? Since you finished it in 4 weeks, was it super Intense? Thank you for making these videos by the way! They’re super helpful 🤗
Hi Estie, thank you for sharing your experience!! It was so informative. I'm trying to decide between Springboard UX/UI and UX Academy. Could you give me a brief update on how the DesignLab course is going? Are you going to do a real client project for one of your projects in phase 2? I'm nervous that I'll fall behind ㅠ.ㅠ
Hi Rebecca! Nice to meet you! :) Thanks for watching. I’m so glad you found it helpful. Update: Juggling my full-time status at DL along with other personal things was difficult for me, so I’m part-time now. I’m thinking about talking about it in a future video. From my experience, feeling behind is only natural! Everyone is going at their own pace. There are students who’ll get ahead of you (they’re crazy ahaha much respect) but don’t compare yourself with them cause it isn’t a race. And we are in a pandemic... no one knows how the job market is going to look like in the near future. I’ve learned to be kinder to myself and my personal expectations. Just embrace your own process of learning. We are already learning SO much! I wouldn’t stress too hard about it. :) if you still feel nervous, then I’d suggest going part-time at DL! ( I was so overwhelmed!) Or you can try full-time and then see if you like it like how I did. You’re allowed to switch statuses only once though. And yes! I do really want to try making one of the capstone projects in phase 2 with an actual client. I haven’t gone over it with my mentor yet. But I plan on bringing it up at the beginning of phase 2!
Thanks for sharing your experience! It was really helpful. I am taking UX Foundation and planning to take the Academy. Would it be possible to tell who was your mentor?
Hi Jacob, I’m thinks about doing UX Academy. How is their career services? Do you find it helpful? How are you finding the job market in these turbulent times??
@@prettypictureful Hi there, overall I really enjoyed my experience in UXA! Career services has been helpful and my mentor is super cool and has given me good advice on how to improve my portfolio, suggestions on how to network, and overall job hunting advice. I will say though the job market has been really tough lately, but I've been able to find a few small contracts to keep me going while I search for full time work. I also live in Silicon Valley and am searching in this area, which I recognize might make things even more competitive, so results may vary depending on where you'll be searching for work. The community and slack channel I've found to be pretty supportive though, and I loved the weekly mentor calls/group critiques throughout the program. I know job hunting right now is a bit tough for many people, but overall I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about UX design!
Hi Samantha!! Hmmm... good question... I'd say try reaching out to DL support and emailing them to make sure! I have no idea cause I'm in LA. Ahhh sorry!
How do interviews work if you no one responds, or you don’t know many people in person who can help? I am a bit afraid of that tbh but am thinking about a bootcamp
For our projects, they recommend for you to find 5-10 participants. You can start with asking your friends/family. Ideally you'll want to aim for your target users, but if you think you're running out of time/options then you can ask other DL students if they can help you out. :)
@@EstieChoi I was wondering this as well. Are you all on your own when it comes to finding people to interview? Did you end up finding target users and how? Was it difficult? I'm considering to take an online UX Bootcamp and I just came across your channel today and it is very informative :D

I saw that you get to do 4 portfolios by the end of the program? I think it's the only pro that makes it better than the other courses.
Hello from a fellow Designlab student! Graduated in Feb and am in career services now :) Cool to hear your experiences with the program so far!!
