I love Jack Lemmon, but I heard that story a bit differently in a magazine interview with Mel & Anne. Brooks & Bancroft did indeed have a terrific argument, and he grabbed her arm. With indignation, she said, “don’t you DARE touch my arm…..my body is my instrument?” He said, “oh yeah? then let’s hear you play ‘Begin the Beguine!’
