in Denmark, where I come from, the breweries know very well that the glue they use must be easily dissolved in the rinsing machines they use to wash the bottles. so the different manufacturers clearly use different types of glue. small manufacturers sometimes use stickers that cannot be removed without solvents.

Soak in hot water for 1/2 hr remove label with razor blade scraper and a SOS pad for glue. The SOS works great. I have been doing that for years. The soap in the SOS pad works great.

Will try this. I like the idea because it requires minimal equipment.

I use 350°F for 10-15 min. Labels PEEL right off(do NOT scrape, makes a huge mess). Then use mineral spirits for adhesive removal followed by acetone to cut the oils of the mineral spirits. Wash your bottles as required before bottling. Works flawlessly, every time.
The suggestion of 200° is nowhere hot enough to release the label from the adhesive.

I should have tried your method. Concerned with weaking wine bottles. Others may have found it useful for their projects which didn't involve forcing corks into bottles.
