I saw Mr. Gleason at the Orange Bowl in Miami in the 1960's. and at the then Honda Classic Golf Tournament in the 1980's. He was an amazing man. He was, not surprisingly, a very thoughtful and caring man. These interviews show the depth of his religious convictions.
This is a wonderful interview. The people who are commenting on Jackie’s sins, what do you know about the true man? You think “The Great One” really thought himself God? He was extremely generous to everyone, his life was over the top in everything. Don’t watch this with a cynical attitude or go into it with a hatred of the Catholic Church or anything else you think is less than you. Open your mind and take it for what it’s worth. This interview is full of important thoughts. I hope you put aside your biases and get out of it what is really there. Thanks, Jackie. You were the Great One in many, many ways.

His early years in show business were a struggle indeed but he kept at it, eventually finding his footing, style, & place in comedy. I knew he was Catholic but probably more of what later came to be called a "cafeteria Catholic", picking & choosing those tenets with which one felt the most comfortable or easiest to enact or follow. Think of all the temptations in show business. It seems that Mr. Gleason kept a truly solid sense of spirituality deep within himself. And we shouldn't judge lest we be judged. One should remember, by the way, that back in that era, much of the public enjoyed an entertainer whose image was one of boozing, carousing, big-spending, & exhibiting a larger-than-life personality. There was a kind of vicarious charm in that. Dean Martin's image would be another good example of this. Today not so much. Anyway, it was great to see Mr. Gleason here, so thoughtful & intelligent. I wish Part 1 were available!
Jackie knew what he was good at and what he was not so good at. That is what made him such a legend. He had personal demons but was a good and decent person. The legacy of acting and comedy he left is the finest gift anyone can give and he gave it to us all. That is truley divine.

Gleason was a deep and serious reader of the paranormal and metaphysics. Very talented and thoughtful man. Stayed married to his first wife long past the period he should have because of his deep catholic belief.
I appreciate Jackie Gleason’s Faith and his solid views here. The only thing is, women priests can never and will never happen. The male priesthood was definitively declared from the Chair of Peter by Pope John Paul 2. . An infallible teaching can never be reversed.
