Thank you Thom, for ranting about the climate deniers and how the media give them "equal time" when they have no credentials at all in a debate with professional climatologists. You have a voice that is heard.
thom yorke looking like a homeless man. love it. i swear if someone attacks me to defend him as if i'm a thom hater i'm going to lose all faith in the people on youtube
To quote The Economist which came through my letter box on Friday: "The doubters are right that uncertainties are rife in climate science. They are wrong when they present that as a reason for inaction" . I don't think any truer words have been spoken on this debate. When you look at it the options are simple. We can act: and if we are wrong what have we lost? Or we can do nothing, consider the worst outcome in this case. Have we really become this short sighted?
@bandplusnumber I actually agree with you. I've found myself wishing he would explain himself more clearly and had more specific things to say, given the fact that he is a well-known public figure -and a very loved one too- and has the opportunity to use that "power" to draw many people's attention to the issue. However, I've noticed Thom has a tendency to be somewhat confusing in expressing his ideas, and it's like he can't quite finish his concepts when talking, and i mean in general.
The point they are making about the public broadcasting (BBC) being hung up on impartiality is very valid. I consume a lot of media from NPR in the US and BBC in the UK. Let me first say NPR and BBC are very dear to my heart and I will always be a huge supporter. However, in their efforts for impartiality they allow every opinion, no matter how base or ridiculous it is. Hacks directly funded by big oil or some nefarious super pac are afforded equal time to misinform and redirect the argument away from a conversation that could really matter. Impartiality is a good thing, but both NPR and BBC are bordering on nihilism by allowing the lesser arguments equal air.
I think that anyone can coment about whatever, and tom is one of those people who knows about the subject, I mean tom yorke is our voice and i like his music. if he tries to change the situation I`m with him and anyone who wants to do it.
The Earth has been changing and ridding itself of life since millions of years before the human race existed. We as human beings are so very shallow and egotistical in thinking that we cause all this climate change as a whole. It is natural.. we definitely do not help the situation, but we definitely do not cause it. Mother Earth is bound to rejuvenate herself, the process is under way as usual... the question is, how long can we as the human species hang on for our survival?
@TYorkester I would never say that Thom Yorke doesn't have the right to speak his mind. All I'm saying is that when he does speak his mind, I would hope he shows some thoughtful intellect. His songwriting clearly demonstrates an ability to think and process concepts in an interesting way, and yet when it comes to real issues in the world with real consequences, he has nothing specific to say, and actually looks quite uncomfortable answering questions with any certainty or specificity.
right. most progressives are also socialist, and the democratic socialist platform condemns centralized government planning. it's sad that a huge part of that community is buying into this nonsense, when the effort could be utilized by strengthening their local communities, markets etc.
@Shystarish do some homework reading, theres so many dedicated, interesting and humane people out there that are trying to make this world a better place that aren't hippies or waffling intellects...the media just drowns it's presence with money making nonsense. It's so hard not to realise it and one can quite easily depise everything when you do see it...its keeping a refined and open minded view on the shifting patterns in a rapidly changing future..that hardly any of us give a shit about.
@elliotnicklin Yeah I think I understand what you mean... IMHO this might be because he's an artist, he is talented in expressing his emotions by singing or playing instruments, but is quite uncomfortable and awkward when it comes to simply communicate just by speaking. Kind of introspective, artistic personaity. Just my guess - I might be wrong ;)
@elliotnicklin Agreed. The music is great, but people acting like he's some kind of genius... he is definitely not well spoken. Can hardly put a couple coherent thoughts together.
@FoFumFilms Yeah, listening to the thoughtful! What have we descended to where people find other people they admire and respect and listen to things they say? It's repulsive!
Boy its kind of sad they should be limited to this reasonably obscure format while they have such an important message. But thats the whole point of what they are discussion, with the bbc not showing the right scientific view on climate change. Right? lol im not sure I follow this but thats what I got out of it.
I'm so disappointed that Thom Yorke has basically nothing to say about global warming or the content of the conference. He just sounds like any other celebrity who is willing to spout platitudes and align themselves with progressive movements when their careers are clearly over. Look at Bono and Sting, same bullsh*t. Yorke, one of my favorite songwriters, sounds dangerously like Tom Cruise in the famous Scientology video.
Just to let you know ,ten years later Thom Yorke is still writing music and is aclaimed one of the best musicians of an entire generation. Yah his career is “over”.
But what evidence are you waiting on? where do you think all this pollution is going to once is released onto the atmosphere? I really love it when folks like you smokerslivelonger defend your comfort with complete disregard for future repercussions. This guy Yorke is just a spokesman for a cause that has founded many organizations by people who see that its shit what we're doing to the planet. BUT YOU PROLLY DONT CARE WITH YOUR FACE BURIED IN YOU TECHNOLOGY WHILE LIFE PASSES YOU BY. THANKS
I love how Thom ALWAYS closes his eyes during interviews while he thinks.
i wonder how these people can just sit next to thom yorke with out breaking down
They look so boring in front of Thom Yorke. God, they have Thom Yorke in front of them and he's one of the most thoughtful man ever!
Did they misspell Radiohead because it's the stupid show? Or... was it a genuine typo... I mean, if you get Yorke right... surely...
Thom getting angry, I love it.
Thank you Thom, for ranting about the climate deniers and how the media give them "equal time" when they have no credentials at all in a debate with professional climatologists. You have a voice that is heard.
Interviewer: Thom what are you doing here?
Thom: I don’t know. What am I doing here?
(I don’t belong here😂😂😂)
I've seen 4 similar interviews so far. God bless his patience.
god i dont think ive ever seen an interview where thom hasn't played with his hair at some point
0:31 his face after seeing 'radiehead'. he probably got really upset after seeing that :)
thom yorke looking like a homeless man.
love it.
i swear if someone attacks me to defend him as if i'm a thom hater i'm going to lose all faith in the people on youtube

"So what Pop is dead its no great loss!" - Thom Yorke.
Thanks for the homework , wish it wasn’t pertinent to go over again
radiohead are my favorite band but let everyone have an opinion

It's called the stupid show for a reason.
