    Just thought I'd leave a positive comment about her vocal effects. Really add to the emotivity of Reservoir and the personal reflection and introspection when she removes it. Beautiful work by the sound team, capturing it all, and cheers to Sophie and crew for creating such powerful music.

      Have to disagree with that. She's an exceptional artist but the combined vocal and other effects on Reservoir largely spoiled it for me.

    i know many people have posted 'thank you' comments to KEXP, but I wanted to add mine. What you guys are doing for music and artists is quite sensational...these YT clips have introduced me to so much new music, especially Icelandic artists..and the thing is, you do it with real style and elegance, including your live program stream, which I listen to a lot....so many, many thanks - RP

    Myriad is so beautiful... the melody in this verse is just so beautiful
    "And I'm telling you there's a way to go
    It's not for you now and I
    Won't carry what you won't let me know
    And take with you now
    'Cause I, I will wait for nothing
    And you, you can't be where I am"

    So Here We Are is literally my go-to song for when I am down, on repeat until I feel better. If they ever come to Osaka, I would probably be able to die happy.

    I love her use of an analog synth bass. It adds so much depth to the music and allows them to give a lot of depth for a live show.

    so special, skillful and professional at the same time! Found Angie Mcmahon a few months ago and now another excellent aussie woman! That voice and how she uses it as an instrument, adding, removing and changes it reminds me of Tom Waits, Ani DiFranco and other great artists! Some very exquisite arrangements there as well, and the percussion/drums on "Can we work it out" was very special imho. The musicians and sound engineers also did a fantastic job here as well! Covid being close to over, just hope there's tours and stops in Stockholm, Sweden coming up!

    Those electronic effects on the vocal would've been innovative and interesting 25+ years ago.

      I still like her music. Just not sure why she's taking a cue from something Cher did decades ago.

    • @joerunicles9198

      Christopher Moyer why not.

      I think they sound dated and overdone. Just my opinion.

    • @DANandMACK
      @DANandMACK 6 років тому +9

      Calling a musical sound/technique "dated" doesn't really make sense considering artistic influence tends to be cyclical as years go by. If anything it makes sense that older sounds are coming back.

    • @stevendufour
      @stevendufour 6 років тому

      Christopher Moyer it’s not Cher she’s taking a cue from. Listen to Bon Iver and Kanye West’ recent repertoire and you’ll know what’s up ;)

      there was only one song with autotune...

    • @HoldenSmith100
      @HoldenSmith100 6 років тому

      she used other filters - effects as well to mechanize the voice and I see it as something very contemporary but silly and humiliated in long terms..

    • @xydex99
      @xydex99 6 років тому +1

      Boris Malinović I want to disagree with you but in the case of this performance I do agree her voice sounds better without this. A lot of the dynamics are lost

    19.32 - a superflous one voice-effect on a voice... sounds non-natural. believe me - an old electcronic. that style falls over it. quit listening.
