I don’t think I’ve thought about my steps since probably my first training session 20 years ago when I was 4 years old 😂 as said above it’s just second nature, you’d get the hang of it straight away
well, Gridiron football came off of just rugby and this comes from both developing rugby and association football. and association football is generally more preferred than rugby football o3o
@@teamsw1ft982 Haha, pretty much every sport that came out of the UK and Ireland has gone to either Australia or New Zealand haha. Rugby Union to NZ, Rugby League to Australia and Cricket to Australia.

Among the football games you can use your hands, this is the most beautiful to watch. All the pauses, adjustments and odd rules on the other ones make them hella boring after some minutes if you are not used to them.
i accidentally came across a video about this sport a few months back... hooked on ever since.. Please upload more videos. world needs to know about this sport.. Love from India
I'm thinking about starting this sport but I'm struggling to understand one thing : which contacts are allowed exactly ? Some say it's only shoulder against should but it doesn't look like it sometimes. It's important to me because I'm concerned about head traumas
i am totally new to gaelic football, but according to the rules i read, at 1:02 there was done a foul, passing the ball from one team mate to another is not allowed by throwing, it must be hit by the fist or the flat hand ...
They do it so fast it looks like throw, but its not he does hit with one of his hands which is legal pass. There is a slight stop in his action that would not happen if we was throwing it
I showed my boy this video...Now he's bouncing & kicking the ball around the house. The lad want us to move to Ireland.... wouldn't he be the first argie gaelic footballer?
Ankyri gaelic football was made over 2000 years ago y r u comparing it to something that was made after gaelic its older then soccer and basketball combined
Preston Garvey jesus fucking christ i was just correcting the error he made there is no need to call me an asshole christ there is no need to be so salty
Great game. No flopping nor accidental fouls. No cheating nor acting. Defenders can use their hands on the ball in the "penalty" area -- and remain in the game. No trepidation regarding inadvertency. Soccer football is akin to playing on eggshells!
I'm trying to understand the rules and I think I get it but often the players seem to throw each other the ball? I thought that wasn't allowed? Isn't it like Aussie Rules where you have to hit the ball with a fist?
O’Neils (the sports brand) is older than Adidas and had the 3 stripe concept first. Adidas own rights outside of Ireland now and O’Neils within Ireland. For eg, if you order an O’Neils jersey within Ireland it comes with 3 stripes. Order from outside Ireland and it comes to you with 2 stripes!
Well firstly there is no offside.Secondly the scoring system is three points for a goal and one point for a score over the bar.You can handle the ball ,but you must not carry it more than four steps after that you can bounce the ball, but only once in succession after that you have to solo which is kicking to yourself all the way then or you can alternate with a bounce. You can not throw the ball ,but you can strike the ball with palm or fist for a pass.Thats the basics.
I find it ironic that the two biggest TV audiences for a sporting event in Ireland in 2018 were rugby matches and with the rugby world cup in 2019 rugby will probably top the ratings again.I keep hearing how rugby isnt popular in Ireland yet the stats show the opposite.More people in Ireland watched the England v Ireland grand slam and All Blacks v Ireland test in 2018 than any other sport, hurling, gaelic football, soccer etc. That proves rugbys far more popular than certain people say.
@molly bartley ,I've only put it on 2 GAA videos.I do it because I keep hearing that Rugby's not popular in Ireland but an unpopular sport would never top the TV ratings. Now I know that GAA sports are the most popular there but I just wanted to point it out that rugby can't be that unpopular.Player numbers alone doesnt gauge popularity. For example in NZ basketball has more player numbers than rugby.
@molly bartley ,I've seen many comments from the Irish especially when they lose to NZ that Rugby's not that popular in Ireland. They say that Rugby's the number 1 game in NZ but not in Ireland. One guy even said that rugby would only be about the 10th popular sport in Ireland but I think those comments are just sour grapes because they usually say these things after a loss lol.
@molly bartley ,actually Ireland are a very good side and were ranked number 1 at the start of the world cup but for some reason can't seem to get past the QFs however their results leading into the world cup over the last 2-3 years have been impressive and Ireland have beaten NZ more in that time than any other NH side so credit to them.Personally I would rank them higher than 5 lol.
@molly bartley ,but that's just world cup rankings and I would probably rank them 3rd or 4th.SA are ranked 1 even though they havent beaten NZ in the last 3 tests.Luckily for them NZ had 1 bad game.Wales were ranked number 1 for a little while even though they hadnt beaten NZ for 66 years, that's how stupid the ranking system is.
@@Trajan2401 Its an old video and an old thread ,however nobody has really explained it properly. The Irish rugby team and provincial teams have a big following, but there are vast areas of ireland without rugby .Rugby Has 234 clubs accross the whole island whereas GAA has 2300.
For those of you watching a lot of gaelic football, do they ever try chip shots over the keepers ? I think it could be an interesting and surprising shot and the only thing you risk is to shoot between the bars instead of the goal.
You can definitely chip the keeper if he’s off his line, we do it the whole time in training, it’s just if you’re running at full speed with the ball it’s very hard to lightly tap it over the keeper and into the goal, yes it could go over the bar and get a point but you’re better off just shooting normally for goal if the goal is what you want
my teacher did a gaelic football club, i couldnt do the kick up and instead i sent it flying and when there was like idk 5 people on me i just threw it and kicked it and yeeted it into the goal it was the funniest thing ive ever done
