Use the arcane thing on all of your armor because every vender sells them, don't wait until late game. Also you will have access to many, so you can override crappy ones.

27:42 U can actually shoot it twice because it didn't move. The great crab is slower than u, so sometimes you can take 2 actions before it takes 1 action. The second attack would've also been a surprise attack.
My favorite way to fight the goo is with a seed of firebloom and a seed of earth root, but it depends on finding a tile with water behind a door or a grass tile. Make sure there’s a couple tiles between you and the goo, ideally three or four, and get it’s attention by just walking back and forth between two tiles or by throwing something at it. Then, you walk through the door or piece of grass, and while still standing on it, you plant the seed of firebloom, which doesn’t activate the plant since you’re already standing there. The goo should still be a few tiles away at this point. Then, you throw the seed of earth root into the water next to where you’re not standing in the door/grass, and you step into the earth root plant to get the shield buff it gives you. Now, you’re set up for success. 1. The goo is taking passive damage from the fire. 2. You’ve got some shielding that helps you from the goo’s charged attacks. 3. You’re standing in water, which immediately washes off the caustic ooze that the goo occasionally debuffs you with. Usually works like a charm. Can’t avoid those charge attacks via this strat, though.
30:10 its probably easier to fight it in the water next to the 2 pillars side by side, every time it pumps, you can get a free attack before rounding the corner, 2x1 or 1x1 is all u need to fight it. Unless you have badder bosses on, the hp regen it gets is pretty negligible for the extra hit u get and being able to stand in water yourself.
if you have badder bosses on, im sorry i always die to goo unless i get a good wand and the goo mid is big. Faith is my armor + mage doesn't let u melee a whole lot. Then again you're trying 9-C, duelist or rogue is probably better,
32:16 you could've attacked it because it pumps for 2 turns, and when u step around the corner, it dodges the attack. If you're going to move out of range when it starts pumping, then u don't need any walls at all
but as a mage, ur better off just backing up 2 squares, letting it pump for 2 turns. It creates a 1 gap to let u get a wand shot off for free before it reengages
I have a habit of fighting bosses like I have badder bosses on and I'm going for the perfect boss score, so I try and avoid walking goo through water, and run away from the charge right away, hopefully that explains some of my non perfect movements.
If you combine stone enchant with ring of arcana and ring of evasion it makes tier 1 armour so tanky you need all of them at least +3 great for dueilest runs
Unsure why the goo or other enemies don’t always follow you, but it seems occasionally random to me. Sometimes, I’ll be traveling in a straight line through a long room with an enemy trailing me, and they make a diagonal step instead of directly following. Doesn’t happen often though.
When its _X1 2__ X represents wall, 1 and 2 represent creatures, _ is empty space 1 can hit 2 with range attacks, 2 cannot hit 1 with range attacks (except disintegration rays from the Eyeball, and your disintegration rays just go through walls) Ethereal chains work just normal(ignore wall) except chains from prison guard i'm not too sure about
Been playing this game for a while. I've gotten the amulet of yendor and backtracked to floor 18 before I died. I can only seem to make progress with the mage, every other class seems to be unable to kill a snake.
@@runningfromcake the mage has a guaranteed damage with the staff charges and can kill a snake in one shot. No other class has an ability that ignores evasion from the start. The mage can survive long enough to get a couple upgrades on his staff then he's golden if you can find a piece of armor.
Dont know why you messed around with the fancy footwork on goo ...I stay on water and have Goo stay on land and usually can kill it without dying even on its charging attacks

you should notice the differences between a chest and a mimic, then you will always be able to tell them apart.

This strat also prevents the goo from healing since you never let it move from the spot where the door or grass was

you can just tell what chests are mimics just by the appearance. they look slightly bigger.

you can also examine the chest from a distance with search tool and it will tell you that opening it up close is not a good idea.
