      supertraining06 Does this apply only to advanced lifters? I think beginners and intermediates might benefit from following a program, with or without percentages.

    • @Phaeer
      @Phaeer 9 років тому +15

      6reps Programs are good to get an understanding for what works but you don't have to follow them strictly. Bar speed and volume are more important than anything when training for strenght in my humble opinion.

    • @Druid51
      @Druid51 9 років тому +10

      Everyone is different. I don't use percentages either because I know that I am better at repping squats then bench. Say a program calls for 85% triple, this would be a joke for me on squats but overly difficult on bench. I know myself better than set percentages and I'll always adjust to that so instead of doing 85% for a triple on squat I'll do like 90% and do like 80% on bench. I don't count these 90 and 80% though as I always just go by feel and experience of what I am capable of.

    I love your videos guys . I was recently diagnosed with Leukemia and went through it all ,chemo, radiation and also a bone marrow transplant. I was never in the best of shape but was always a lifter and strong. After everything I went through / still going through, I got sooo fat and out of shape all the way up to 300+lbs. I've been working out and doing a lot of cardio and and feeling better also down to 268 lbs in a month . I just like the way you all interact with each other. It reminds me of working out with the boys in football/baseball/basketball or the bouncers at the clubs lol. You bust balls but incourage as well, I love it . I'm rambling I know . I just want to say thanks super training.

    So you do 6-8 sets with high reps on the bench for a cycle. When you go heavier and lower reps do you keep those sets the same or limit it to less sets to focus on lifting the most weight possible.

    Question: I tore my pec real bad (San Diego Chargers Doc said it looked like someone just filet my left pec major in the muscle belly and unlike most pec tears where it comes at the insertion) . I recovered over time, starting benching soup cans, got back to 405 (was at 500 lbs) but after 405 it felt like little piano strings in my pec were snapping (probably scar tissue). Ok, so I can't do weighted dips (loved them) because I tore me pec doing reverse grip declines (repping 365) and dips are too close to that position for my pec. Do you have any advice for a guy who can't do weighted dips, nor decline reverse grips for triceps. I already do skull crushers and and heavy pull downs (cable). I have also had three shoulder surgeries and am now 51 yrs. old. Still in good shape, but took a long time off lifting and I am only back at 275 max after 3 months of training. Just wondered how you delt with older clients and in my situation. I know that is a big ask and maybe you can't really answer it, but just in case something pops into your mind (besides, give it up old man) :-) ... I'd be grateful.
