I just purchased the ProArt P16. I absolutely love it. There are differences despite being the same chassis. The keyboard keys texture and travel is different, and the mattblack coating feels different. The 4k screen is gorgeous, but only 60 htz. Internals are the same. I returned my g16 because when I heard about the AMD chip, I decided to wait. Trackpad also is smother. I'm not a big gamer, so ProArt is fine for me. These processors can run in Whisper mode and best Windows efficency mode and still give good performance. I watched a Netflix movie at 45% brightness for 90 minutes and only used 10% battery amazing. That's a 16-hour run time. Except for hard-core gaming, you would be surprised how well this chip runs on lower power and igpu.

High DPC latency can cause stuttering, audio dropouts, and other performance problems, especially in real-time audio and video tasks, gaming, and even general system responsiveness. Even if you haven't noticed any problems while streaming, it's a good idea to check the DPC latency to ensure your system is running smoothly under all conditions. Also, to be fair, I can't trust your statement either. I trust objective measurements. You may not notice anything when streaming. But it doesn't promise that there won't be any problems in other scenarios. As I said, DPC latency problems are far more than just streaming related. Please don't misunderstand, I mean this respectfully and hope you can understand my point. This test is generally very important but on laptops you often cannot overwrite firmware settings. It is very hard and sometimes impossible to fix on windows laptops.

Great video, but what laptop would you chose between the m16 2023 with the 4080 and mini led display and the new 2024 g16 with the oled , 4070 and ryzen 9AI, because they are abituata the same price(maybe the m16 is a bit cheaper). I am going to use the laptop for university stuff(engineering) and both gaming. So please help me out because I have to make this big purchase once but don’t want to make some mistakes. Thanks again.
@@GaeThanos60 for your use case I’d definitely pick the g16. The g16 is thinner and quieter than the m16. So for taking it around school it’s definitely more portable. It also has significantly better battery life than the m16. I think the g16 truly is a great all around machine. It’s not the most powerful. But it has the battery life, screen, portability, and performance in the best form factor.

Dude you are on a gold mine with this one. Everyone is talking about this cpu but NO ONE has shown how it performs as a cpu with a discrete gpu. We need benchmarks asap!
They announced that G14 with this cpu will also be released, i can't wait to see the performance and battery life, maybe the G16 will give us an idea in this regard even though i think the difference in battery size is not enough to compensate the extra power consumption due to the 16 inch screen, i think the G14 will have a significant better battery life.
@@Zukouis my full review video on this is out now. As I have said to a few others. A 4090 is a 4090. There is no comparison between the 4090 and the new AMD 4070 version. The 4090 is more powerful. If that matters to you most and don’t care about battery life and plan on playing or using the laptop plugged in all the time, then go with the 4090. But if you want the perfect blend of power and battery life, then go with the 4070.
Curious to know the real life performance experience. I heard the Zenbook with the AI HX 370 appears to under power the chip vs what the chip is capable of. Wonder if asus did the same here. The zenbook is very lightweight and has a battery to accomodate that. Wonder how this compares to the zenbook on performance, charge life, etc. The price point seems to be comprable. Also the zenbook has the new ceramic aluminun body.
Have you discovered anything new internally compared to the earlier 2024 models? Still same cooling/fan configuration on the 4070? How’s the fan noise so far?
@@DigiDem85 everything appears to be the same. Some models have a vapor chamber, although it’s not clear which models. My model does not have the vapor chamber but the tri-fan tech. So far it is not and quiet unless I’m manually adjusting tdp. I will say there is a nice HOT SPOT on the bottom of the laptop where the heat pipes are. Thermals have been good as well. But I don’t usually max things out on gaming laptops for longevity reasons. Full review coming soon.
It's seemingly impossible to find the OLED GA605 G16 with 2TB storage in the gray color right now. I'm choosing between the G14 with the 8945hs with 2TB in gray or the G16 with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 in gray, ideally with 2TB, but currently only with 1TB. Thoughts? I'd be using the laptop for gaming and college (taking it to classes - obviously with the RGB off lol). Also, is battery life better/longer on the G14 or the G16?
@@riptidegaming06 g16 battery life all day. Yes the only model that comes in grey is the 1TB version. I’d swap it for a 2TB Samsung 990 pro anyways. Faster ssd.
@@riptidegaming06 it’s should. ASUS shows how to upgrade ssd on their website. I’ve sent in ASUS products with ssd upgrades for warranty repairs with no issues. Only way I can see them having a problem is if you break something in the process.
@@riptidegaming06 heatsink won’t fit. Also adding a ssd to the second slot runs at 4x2. So it’s half speed. Use your fastest ssd in the stock slot. Also Asus says this laptop only supports 2 tb max storage. Full review is uploading now.

Honestly I’m not sure about the monitors out there that resemble this screen. These g14 and g16 screen are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. For my main build I use the LG Ultragear 45”. It’s OLED giant and amazing. But still doesn’t come close to these ROG Nebula displays. I wish ROG came out with giant ROG. curved gaming monitors. They do make the ROG Swift OLED monitors. But I’ve never seen one in person. Maybe that’s the closest thing?

@@SumPatti I really like my g14. I will say I’ve had some issues with this g16. I have been able to fix them but it hasn’t been as smooth as the g14. My g14 had some issues as well but a bios fixed them. The g16 is way nicer looking and I really like the 16” screen more. ASUS needs to iron out some software issues on the g16.
Hi, I just wanted to ask if there are any dealbreakers, or anything weird compared to the G14/G16 core ultra 9 (if youve tried it). I cant find any english reviews on this anywhere, and wana buy one today or tomorrow. @@mobeen369 so I’m not a fan of intel in laptops. They are not as energy efficient as AMD and they run hotter at the same tdp. The AMD version has the new 890m igpu and it is amazing so far and it is far superior to intel igpu. If you set the laptop to eco mode which strictly uses the igpu you can game for a long time at decent performance. I think this is the best gaming laptop of 2024 for sure. Full review coming soon.

@@isbestlizard I know! It’s .59 inches thick. So far I have noticed a hot spot on the bottom of the device toward the back in the middle. But the thermals of cpu and gpu are great. So far I’ve only messed around and games with the performance profile. But I’ll be doing more testing with a manual tdp today. Full review coming soon!

@@alialsaati1759 someone asked me this question before. My thoughts are a 4090 is a 4090. Way more powerful than a 4070. So if you value more power for higher graphics settings and more fps then go with the 4090. But this 4070 version is a good mix between power efficiency and performance. I find that a 4070 is more than enough for most people. My full review will be out soon.
@@ZED-PV yes from the consumer perspective. The 4090 would certainly have the vapor chamber. From the suppliers perspective, the 4090 and 4080 version of the g16 and g14 didn’t sell as many units and the 4060 and 4070 version. The lower end variants are cheaper, meaning more units sold.

Hi, im looking at the G16 at 4070 level. Is this better than the intel core ultra 9? No one has reviewed it so I wouldnt want to pay extra for it and its worse. Is the cpu atleast more stronger that the g14 ryzen 9? The g14 cpu was justt abit weak in cpu for me
@@mobeen369 amd is always better than intel in my opinion. But this new cpu is awesome. From others testing that I have seen. The HX 370 is better than the 8945hs. Faster and has 4 more cores.
@@Daaa-Zhao I’m not sure. But from experience and looking at the website they are not. The g14 no longer is available in the 4080 version like the 2023. ASUS explanation for that was that people preferred the 4070 versions. Which I don’t get. For me the 4070 is perfectly fine. Plenty powerful enough. It’s the same as the g14 2024 that I reviewed. However, the GPU can max out at 105 watts as compared to the g14’s 90 watts.
Good video. Yeah, screen Wobble is very bad on that price range. Its a premium device, is not suppose to be there, i hope asus fix that hinges, Overall, its very good laptop.
Hope you can help me mate. No one else has reviewed this I got mine yesterday and it literally wouldn’t open any games. I tried about 5 different games from my steam library and some crashed the system, others the game crashed. I had updated everything, including the BIOS (there’s a critical update waiting in My ASUS) out of the box. Despite these updates the machine would not run any game at all. What has your experience been?
@@GamerVsTech yes I did. I always update everything to new when setting up a new machine. My CPU temps were quite high - around 97C. Also noticed that Steam was using huge CPU resource when running it. I’ve returned it now and hopefully will get another one sent out. @@rickymitchell9847 oh wow. Ya mine doesn’t act like that at all. I did encounter 2 other problems tho. #1 the seconds slot does not run at full speed. Only 4x2. #2 my laptop wouldn’t turn back on if it was disconnected from power. It was maddening. Took me 2 days and tons of research to figure it out. Silent mode (which is default when unplugged) prevents the computer from turning on when disconnected from power. To fix you need to put it into performance mode before shutting down on battery. Already send multiple messages to ASUS about this. The laptop is advertised as 2TB max storage capacity but both ssd slots should be PCIE 4.0
I couldn’t be bothered dealing with ASUS “customer support” I’m now wondering whether to just replace my unit with an intel Ultra one - seems the AMD variant needs some BIOS and driver updates. Who knows how long ASUS will take to apply those. Very disappointing because otherwise the machine is stunning
@@GamerVsTechI just checked the specs on their website and this is running their tri fan technology without a vapor chamber on both the 4060 and 4070. The only difference between this and the previous lineup is the cpu.

Yeah, its a bit strange since the Meteor Lake CPUs which are slower than the 13th and 14th gen, and also slower than this Ryzen HX 370 come with a 4090 in many ASUS laptops.
Hard to say. In the case of the g14 which in previous model years had 4080 and 4090 versions, ASUS did away with them. They said that not as many people were buying those versions for cost reasons. I have a feeling the 4070 will be the highest they are going to go with this one. At the price and the power/gaming performance you get, I can see this being the best selling laptop for the next year.
@@GamerVsTech its still going to be Lenovo Legion 7i or Yoga Pro 9i, especially the Yoga 9i, with its minimalist design and low fan noise + heat you feel, especially at the price point its at, alot more people will look towards those 2 if all 3 are capped at 4070 (the yoga pro is 4070 outside of US)

Wanted to buy, then I saw that Best Buy's version has 2TB for the same price. But it's not available yet smh Also, did it come with a back pack or sleeve? Usually buying from Asus comes with free accessories but your unboxing shows that it may not with this model.
Unfortunately not extra accessories. I had my eye on the Best Buy version. But couldn’t wait. But the laptop does have 2 ssd slots. So I dropped an additional 2TB Samsung 990 pro in right away.

@@veridiux yes vigorous testing right now. A little sneak peak. Igpu only. Discrete graphics off. Screen brightness at 50%. Rgb off. All unnecessary things off. HDR off. I was able to play elden ring 60 fps locked at 1200p for 2 and 1/2 hours.
@@Dravenchaput unfortunately no. What you’re looking at is 16gb *2 - 32gb max. Meaning there is 2 soldered 16 gb modules. The ram is not upgradable. I can confirm it’s soldered. I opened the laptop up last night.
@@KenBrooks so I finished my first test last night. igpu only with screen brightness set to 50%, hdr off, rgb off, Bluetooth off. Everything unnecessary off. I got 2 1/2 hours of Elden ring.

@@GamerVsTech Yes, i have the AI 9 HX 370. It is possible to configure to work with temps of 77-79 C on CPU and GPU, but with compromises. I wish if it would be a little bit thicker, with a better cooler.
@@Gallardo994 you may be right. But macbooks are not gaming laptops. This screen alone absolutely crushes the current MacBook. That alone is more than enough for the average gamer. Plus many people hate the Apple ecosystem.
@@GamerVsTech could be. I personally don't game as much as I work in game development, and it requires much more RAM than 32 gigs. I can do that on a mac, but i wouldn't be able to do that on this machine. And that's kind of sad as i could do that on previous gen laptops like this one, but that's unavailable this generation.
@@B4nana888 well a 4090 is a 4090. There’s no doubt that the 4090 or even the 4080 is more powerful than the 4070. But when it comes to gaming laptops I always tell people what’s your use case. Do you have a main build? If so there’s really no need to have a 4090. However if a gaming laptop is all you want/have power it’s important. But from my testing so far and even with the g14 with the 4070, they are beasts. Playing games at max settings and resolution is amazing. The screen is the best screen I have ever seen on a laptop. It’s not always about fps. It’s about how good it looks while playing. Right? Hope this helps.

Check out some of the Lenovo gaming laptops. They are really well built. Like the Legion Slim 5. I believe it’s only around $1299 USD. Theres is the Pro 5 version for $1500. Best Buy US has the 2024 g14 with the 4070 and 32gb ram open box for $1600 right now. The 2024 g14 is the best gaming laptop imo. But this new g16 may take the cake soon. I have to do more testing.

I am also really curious how it works on your lap doing normal stuff. I had a zenbook with the 370 I just had to return. Plugged in, it would spew massive heat out of the bottom vents just browsing chrome+youtube. CPU temps were fine though. I guess that comes with them making it so thin, but they fumbled the bag on this. Wondering if I could make this a hybrid gaming laptop/multimedia do everything sort of deal since its still thin and light enough.

A little warm. Maybe your are referring to versions before 2024. The 2024 g14 I reviewed has excellent cooling. However, I do prop mine up so that there is more airflow coming through the bottom. I also pretty much exclusively game using the performance profile within armoury crate.

What is the DPC Latency? Do the bars stay green in LatencyMon?

@@Zukouis my full review video on this is out now. As I have said to a few others. A 4090 is a 4090. There is no comparison between the 4090 and the new AMD 4070 version. The 4090 is more powerful. If that matters to you most and don’t care about battery life and plan on playing or using the laptop plugged in all the time, then go with the 4090. But if you want the perfect blend of power and battery life, then go with the 4070.
Curious to know the real life performance experience. I heard the Zenbook with the AI HX 370 appears to under power the chip vs what the chip is capable of. Wonder if asus did the same here. The zenbook is very lightweight and has a battery to accomodate that. Wonder how this compares to the zenbook on performance, charge life, etc. The price point seems to be comprable. Also the zenbook has the new ceramic aluminun body.

Have you discovered anything new internally compared to the earlier 2024 models? Still same cooling/fan configuration on the 4070? How’s the fan noise so far?
@@DigiDem85 everything appears to be the same. Some models have a vapor chamber, although it’s not clear which models. My model does not have the vapor chamber but the tri-fan tech. So far it is not and quiet unless I’m manually adjusting tdp. I will say there is a nice HOT SPOT on the bottom of the laptop where the heat pipes are. Thermals have been good as well. But I don’t usually max things out on gaming laptops for longevity reasons. Full review coming soon.

It's seemingly impossible to find the OLED GA605 G16 with 2TB storage in the gray color right now. I'm choosing between the G14 with the 8945hs with 2TB in gray or the G16 with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 in gray, ideally with 2TB, but currently only with 1TB. Thoughts? I'd be using the laptop for gaming and college (taking it to classes - obviously with the RGB off lol). Also, is battery life better/longer on the G14 or the G16?
@@riptidegaming06 g16 battery life all day. Yes the only model that comes in grey is the 1TB version. I’d swap it for a 2TB Samsung 990 pro anyways. Faster ssd.

@@riptidegaming06 it’s should. ASUS shows how to upgrade ssd on their website. I’ve sent in ASUS products with ssd upgrades for warranty repairs with no issues. Only way I can see them having a problem is if you break something in the process.

@@riptidegaming06 heatsink won’t fit. Also adding a ssd to the second slot runs at 4x2. So it’s half speed. Use your fastest ssd in the stock slot. Also Asus says this laptop only supports 2 tb max storage. Full review is uploading now.

Honestly I’m not sure about the monitors out there that resemble this screen. These g14 and g16 screen are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. For my main build I use the LG Ultragear 45”. It’s OLED giant and amazing. But still doesn’t come close to these ROG Nebula displays. I wish ROG came out with giant ROG. curved gaming monitors. They do make the ROG Swift OLED monitors. But I’ve never seen one in person. Maybe that’s the closest thing?

@@SumPatti I really like my g14. I will say I’ve had some issues with this g16. I have been able to fix them but it hasn’t been as smooth as the g14. My g14 had some issues as well but a bios fixed them. The g16 is way nicer looking and I really like the 16” screen more. ASUS needs to iron out some software issues on the g16.

Hi, I just wanted to ask if there are any dealbreakers, or anything weird compared to the G14/G16 core ultra 9 (if youve tried it). I cant find any english reviews on this anywhere, and wana buy one today or tomorrow. @@mobeen369 so I’m not a fan of intel in laptops. They are not as energy efficient as AMD and they run hotter at the same tdp. The AMD version has the new 890m igpu and it is amazing so far and it is far superior to intel igpu. If you set the laptop to eco mode which strictly uses the igpu you can game for a long time at decent performance. I think this is the best gaming laptop of 2024 for sure. Full review coming soon.

@@isbestlizard I know! It’s .59 inches thick. So far I have noticed a hot spot on the bottom of the device toward the back in the middle. But the thermals of cpu and gpu are great. So far I’ve only messed around and games with the performance profile. But I’ll be doing more testing with a manual tdp today. Full review coming soon!

@@alialsaati1759 someone asked me this question before. My thoughts are a 4090 is a 4090. Way more powerful than a 4070. So if you value more power for higher graphics settings and more fps then go with the 4090. But this 4070 version is a good mix between power efficiency and performance. I find that a 4070 is more than enough for most people.

@@ZED-PV yes from the consumer perspective. The 4090 would certainly have the vapor chamber. From the suppliers perspective, the 4090 and 4080 version of the g16 and g14 didn’t sell as many units and the 4060 and 4070 version. The lower end variants are cheaper, meaning more units sold.
I'm very surprised why no one reviewed this laptop and no one said that there is an AMD version of this laptop, I already bought G16 intel without knowing that 😢 I would have bought the AMD version....

@@mobeen369 amd is always better than intel in my opinion. But this new cpu is awesome. From others testing that I have seen. The HX 370 is better than the 8945hs. Faster and has 4 more cores.

@@Daaa-Zhao I’m not sure. But from experience and looking at the website they are not. The g14 no longer is available in the 4080 version like the 2023. ASUS explanation for that was that people preferred the 4070 versions. Which I don’t get.
For me the 4070 is perfectly fine. Plenty powerful enough. It’s the same as the g14 2024 that I reviewed. However, the GPU can max out at 105 watts as compared to the g14’s 90 watts.
Good video. Yeah, screen Wobble is very bad on that price range. Its a premium device, is not suppose to be there, i hope asus fix that hinges, Overall, its very good laptop.

I got mine yesterday and it literally wouldn’t open any games. I tried about 5 different games from my steam library and some crashed the system, others the game crashed.
I had updated everything, including the BIOS (there’s a critical update waiting in My ASUS) out of the box.
Despite these updates the machine would not run any game at all.
What has your experience been?

@@GamerVsTech yes I did. I always update everything to new when setting up a new machine. My CPU temps were quite high - around 97C. Also noticed that Steam was using huge CPU resource when running it. I’ve returned it now and hopefully will get another one sent out. Might have had a problem unit

@@rickymitchell9847 oh wow. Ya mine doesn’t act like that at all. I did encounter 2 other problems tho. #1 the seconds slot does not run at full speed. Only 4x2. #2 my laptop wouldn’t turn back on if it was disconnected from power. It was maddening. Took me 2 days and tons of research to figure it out. Silent mode (which is default when unplugged) prevents the computer from turning on when disconnected from power. To fix you need to put it into performance mode before shutting down on battery. Already send multiple messages to ASUS about this. The laptop is advertised as 2TB max storage capacity but both ssd slots should be PCIE 4.0
I couldn’t be bothered dealing with ASUS “customer support”
I’m now wondering whether to just replace my unit with an intel Ultra one - seems the AMD variant needs some BIOS and driver updates. Who knows how long ASUS will take to apply those.

AMD is more energy efficient. The igpu is the main selling point.
I would never buy a gaming laptop this thin without a vapor chamber. It’ll probably also run loud with the 3rd fan.

Yeah, its a bit strange since the Meteor Lake CPUs which are slower than the 13th and 14th gen, and also slower than this Ryzen HX 370 come with a 4090 in many ASUS laptops.
@@abaj006 They're probably going to launch the 4080, 4090 versions with the Lunar Lakes. Some deal with Intel, maybe.

Hard to say. In the case of the g14 which in previous model years had 4080 and 4090 versions, ASUS did away with them. They said that not as many people were buying those versions for cost reasons. I have a feeling the 4070 will be the highest they are going to go with this one. At the price and the power/gaming performance you get, I can see this being the best selling laptop for the next year.
@@GamerVsTech its still going to be Lenovo Legion 7i or Yoga Pro 9i, especially the Yoga 9i, with its minimalist design and low fan noise + heat you feel, especially at the price point its at, alot more people will look towards those 2 if all 3 are capped at 4070 (the yoga pro is 4070 outside of US)

Unfortunately not extra accessories. I had my eye on the Best Buy version. But couldn’t wait. But the laptop does have 2 ssd slots. So I dropped an additional 2TB Samsung 990 pro in right away.

@@veridiux yes vigorous testing right now. A little sneak peak. Igpu only. Discrete graphics off. Screen brightness at 50%. Rgb off. All unnecessary things off. HDR off. I was able to play elden ring 60 fps locked at 1200p for 2 and 1/2 hours.
On Asus website says 16gb ram supports up to 32 dual channel so it’s upgradable
@@Dravenchaput unfortunately no. What you’re looking at is 16gb *2 - 32gb max. Meaning there is 2 soldered 16 gb modules. The ram is not upgradable. I can confirm it’s soldered. I opened the laptop up last night.

@@orucreiss stayed up way too late last night playing games on it!! It’s amazing. The g14 is awesome. But the bigger screen is sooooooo nice. It’s heavier for sure. But that extra 2 inches of screen is a huge difference. Haven’t tested the igpu alone yet. That’s happening today.

@@GamerVsTech Yes, i have the AI 9 HX 370. It is possible to configure to work with temps of 77-79 C on CPU and GPU, but with compromises. I wish if it would be a little bit thicker, with a better cooler.

@@Gallardo994 you may be right. But macbooks are not gaming laptops. This screen alone absolutely crushes the current MacBook. That alone is more than enough for the average gamer. Plus many people hate the Apple ecosystem.

I can do that on a mac, but i wouldn't be able to do that on this machine. And that's kind of sad as i could do that on previous gen laptops like this one, but that's unavailable this generation.

@@B4nana888 well a 4090 is a 4090. There’s no doubt that the 4090 or even the 4080 is more powerful than the 4070. But when it comes to gaming laptops I always tell people what’s your use case. Do you have a main build? If so there’s really no need to have a 4090. However if a gaming laptop is all you want/have power it’s important. But from my testing so far and even with the g14 with the 4070, they are beasts. Playing games at max settings and resolution is amazing. The screen is the best screen I have ever seen on a laptop. It’s not always about fps. It’s about how good it looks while playing. Right?

Hey, can u recommended me a good gaming laptop with a good battery life within 1600 dollars.
Check out some of the Lenovo gaming laptops. They are really well built. Like the Legion Slim 5. I believe it’s only around $1299 USD. Theres is the Pro 5 version for $1500. Best Buy US has the 2024 g14 with the 4070 and 32gb ram open box for $1600 right now. The 2024 g14 is the best gaming laptop imo. But this new g16 may take the cake soon. I have to do more testing.

I am also really curious how it works on your lap doing normal stuff. I had a zenbook with the 370 I just had to return. Plugged in, it would spew massive heat out of the bottom vents just browsing chrome+youtube. CPU temps were fine though. I guess that comes with them making it so thin, but they fumbled the bag on this. Wondering if I could make this a hybrid gaming laptop/multimedia do everything sort of deal since its still thin and light enough.

A little warm. Maybe your are referring to versions before 2024. The 2024 g14 I reviewed has excellent cooling. However, I do prop mine up so that there is more airflow coming through the bottom. I also pretty much exclusively game using the performance profile within armoury crate.
