    Brilliant ! Thank you so much, I feel grateful to have so many dedicated, knowledgeable experts working on this. As a primary school teacher I aim to keep as informed as possible, mainstream media seems hysterical. I will keep working every day at my school for as long as I can, education is an essential service. I truly believe my mental health would suffer if I was forced to work from home, away from my students and my colleagues.

      How to practice physical distancing in the class room is my challenge. And lack of ongoing cleaning of surfaces during the day..doors, knobs, switches, toilets, rails, etc. Does your school have cleaning support at present? We teachers are cleaning at mine. :)

    This is such an excellent discussion, very insightful and cuts through the misleading information out in the public. We are so blessed to have such brilliant minds working on this problem. You should all go on the ABC Q&A show as this would be so informative for the Australian public.

    Thanks for such an informative presentation! It seems to me that Schools are a form of social or physical isolation for kids. Children are social, so if they are not in school, they are at each other’s houses, at movies, in shopping centres and playgrounds etc. Or, in families that can’t afford that amount of childcare, they might be cared for by grandparents, who are a very high risk group. It makes sense to keep kids in school, ( especially since very few teachers are in the high risk over-65 age group).

    I think that schools could stay open if every school employed many cleaners. Singapore is keeping their schools so clean. Ongoing cleaning during the school day.. door knobs, switches, rails, toilets, desks, computers, etc. Without this schools are a place of transmission to adults. Physical distancing in an Australian class room? How many people have been in a school.lately?
    Thank you.

    Thank you. That was very informative and encouraging. In terms of questions, I would like a more in-depth discussion of the range of possibilities that the models are producing, including effects on the duration of our responses, effects on total deaths, and stretching things a bit, economic effects. I realise that this is hypothetical, so I would be interested in the ranges of possibilities where there is uncertainty in the assumptions.

    wait. nsw has done more test than vic - are they saying it gets sent to victoria? also, if they are only testing people who have been over seas and people with direct contact, of course it will show that proven positives are happening to people who have just travelled or in direct contact.

    Superb. So far ahead of anything the government is putting out. That's the problem. Politics does not employ the brightest and best but a very mediocre set of self serving individuals.

    Australia should have a task force for covid19 comprise of bipartisan & experts like these from the video. What is good to know so far is we have about 0.5% positives in our screening that means we are screening extensively.

    Time to close our schools! Measures can be taken for the children of health care workers to ensure they are looked after.

    • @judeocean6586
      @judeocean6586 4 роки тому

      Laura Keays , the problem with closing schools is where kids go when they are off school. Kids are social - they go to Movies, shopping centres, each other’s houses, and younger ones often get looked after by grandparents , in families that can’t afford that amount of childcare. School is a form of social isolation for kids.

      Send in cleaners to schools to ensure surfaces are cleaned often during the day... door handles, switches, toilets, computers, etc. . The teaching staff are busy already.
