@fountane i always refer to the faceless as the Keene Machine. Such a shame how problematic he seems to be. At least we have zenith passage as a result.
All hail your king.....BRANDON!!!! This song absolutely has me in a trance where all I can think about I thus bassline for a week straight now....damn you sir! And thank-you lol
I remember meeting this dude outside a Best Buy in Valencia about 15 years ago. He’s rad, I had just seen the Faceless at some shit place in canoga park and thought this dude was badass then but I was a little jealous how good he was because I was playing bass at the same time. I’m happy this man stuck with playing music.
That Justin hitting climax clip was important! Good thing you kept it in. Awesome playthrough. Looks like it would be so much fun to play if only I could :D
Insane chops, composition and creativity - the best metal bassist. You obviously know your place as a bassist (unlike that horrendous beyond creation bloke) but still shred like a genius.
For anybody who thinks the bass doesn’t play a role in metal music… Holy hell, this is so good. If only and Justice for all had such a pronounced bass. lol This dude is so frigging good
Jesus this is insane. I’m also a bass player and think I found another fave bass player of mine. Screw picks. You got fingers for picks like Crab Walk in Metallica.
Damn this track is tight! Just too bad it's the studio track we hear and not the actual playthrough. A lot of the parts he plays did not match with the audio. Still the best track of 2021 \m/
nah man the differences between both guitars and the bass are all in the track and intentional just not massively apparent cos they create mad harmonies
No hate to the dudes but he's definitely playing differently than what's in the recording. The first two gallops in the song after the first note, in the recorded track they're on the same octave as the first note but he's hitting them an octave higher. Happens multiple times on repetitions
@@DingusMcBrungus I noticed that. I swear this playthrough is way more complicated than the bass parts on the track. Absolutely awesome regardless though.
Ace musicianship as expected from a member of ZP and ex Faceless/Cynic (live), but damn man, that has to be the least exciting bass tone I've ever heard in my life. I understand if it fits with what you guys were going for, but imo it sounds so flat and dead. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer or anything, just my very unimportant opinion on things.
I feel the complete opposite! The bass pops so much more in my opinion, and doesn't just sound like a million other bands. For me its a nice throwback to bands like Cynic, Death, Watchtower, etc where cleaner bass (by todays standards) was used. I wouldn't mind just a hair more grit, but I adore this almost clean style of bass tone for this genre.
Playing your gallops with two fingers is a dominance move
So fucking sick. From the Faceless, to Cynic, to this, Brandon always kills it.
I just figured out The Zenith Passage is essentially The Faceless without Keene. They're all former Faceless members lol.
this is not dark brandon. this is phat brandon.
like, how bass sounds "fat"? and he is playing the b
please forgive me i have stopped my meds
@fountane i always refer to the faceless as the Keene Machine. Such a shame how problematic he seems to be. At least we have zenith passage as a result.
Literally the coolest bass parts ever written. All of them.
This is the most creative bass riff I’ve heard since omnipresent perception
The evolution of Planetary Duality Faceless, I’ve been looking for something like this for the last 10 years! Tiiiight.
Love the bass tone and how high it is in this mix
All hail your king.....BRANDON!!!! This song absolutely has me in a trance where all I can think about I thus bassline for a week straight now....damn you sir! And thank-you lol
This is some of the coolest bass parts ever with a flawles tone.
Jesus no matter how many times i watch this and listen i still sit in total silence out of respect

Once of my favourite bassist from Planetary Duality! 🤟
Extremely tight, absurdely fluid, friggin' awesome, semi naked band members wet dancing
11/10
I love their ambient passages so damn much.
Brandon Giffin wins, flawless victory!
ha! this bass tone rips, even on my cellphone speakers.
That Justin hitting climax clip was important! Good thing you kept it in.
Awesome playthrough. Looks like it would be so much fun to play if only I could :D
This is ridiculously good
This was great! Very unique playing and riffs 🤘
Lets go brandon
lol
LETS GO BRANDON
I really hope the actual band doesnt partake in that stupid right wing bullshit.

Which one ?
Awesome playthrough, and that bass looks killer man!
this song slaps for real! impressive bass playing
Rarely do i find myself looking up a bass playthrough lol but this dude is something else
Hell ya! Brandon is the man!
Those gotta be the greatest bass lines ever made by human in one single song. What the hell, this is 100% nailed as fvck. Hail Brandon.
Fuck! Tapping, double thumb, precise finger playing with awesome tone. That s a perfect combination.
This is the best riff of 2022. Prove me wrong!
So clean!!! Great song guys!

Yeah, fuckin nasty catchy shit. This has been stuck in my head since day 1. :D
THE RETURN OF THE KING
Супер!Круто!Очень здорово звучит!Я просто похлопаю в ладоши....
Excatly, whatever he said!...
Very nicely done!
AMAZING
Sick!
Now time for the guitar and drum play through!
Guitar playthrough was uploaded three weeks ago!
Superb 👌
Love the "naked" tone. If there's distortion, I don't notice it.
Excelente 🤟🤟
Genius(!)
now thats how bass is done
criminally under-viewed video
Best bass playthrough of 2021 🙏
Sick
Rad!
nastyyyyy savage
that tone is hella tasty
Super creative bass lines!
Noice!
metal asmr, nice
I really wish I had talent. I own a 5 string bass (ESP) but I dont have what it takes to ever have this sort of skill.
It’s called practice
@@456death654 It is not always so simple. Some of us simply don't have the knack for things like this.
@@kyoshifrostwolf with practice you can play any song you like, of course the harder it is the longer you will need !

TZP is also known as "Daddy"!
Anyone knows in which tuning they are playing? is this B standart?
Is this how it's played on the album?
TAB PLEASE!
Woah, what's this tuning? Drop C with a low A?

Things not matching up is probably just a video editing issue.
@@joshua.merrill which would prove my point. If editing is involved, then the track is not uncut.🤷♂️

Simply delicious.
this is incredible, nasty even
Someone listened to king crimson a lot
That's about as tight as you can possibly get.
Omg🫶🤘💪
I think I’ve watched this vid like twice a day for the past year lol
it’s a helicopter flying on the background?
Ain't a single playthrough, this is multiple takes stitched together

Bass go brrrrrrr
I've came to the conclusion Brandon is jesus....yes he is god....I said it no take backs
I don't know ben affleck can play bass
This is honestly just some apex predator shit
Nice for the kiddies who can’t mosh anymore.
Ok boomer
nobody can mosh outhere because the pandemic you dink
Death metal kids get mad at anything that isn’t a copy of mortician and it’s hilarious

Maybe they went with a clean flat tone for the playthrough
I definitely prefer a grindy bass tone, but this is super clean and tight, which might get lost with a heavier tone.

Disagree. Sounds phenomenal. Sounds like an unprocessed bass tone.
Turn the highs down it's a bass 🤣
His 5 sounds like a 3 string 🤣
