That Area 51 episode reminds me of the original Gamera series, were characters would always be like "Aliens aren't real" despite the multiple alien invasions up until that point
I'm suddenly reminded of scene in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue where an older lady tells a young girl that monsters aren't real... Despite this being the season with literal demons invading every other day.
honestly, it's a shame the series didn't have a proper ending, I feel as though if the ratings were still high enough and the show had enough budget, I feel as though maybe they could have brought in a few classic toho monsters for an "end of days" type finale
IIRC the ratings were good, but it got canned because of the Digi/Pokemon wars. Might have been for the best too since I can only imagine how hard censors would've clamped down on it if it were still going on after 9/11.
The episode Cash of the Titans is meant to the ending. It was actually the 40th episode, and it ends with Nick and Audrey walking away holding hands, Elsie and Craven going on a date, and Randy even gets a kiss from Monique. All of the main characters' relationships are wrapped up in such a way that the show could keep airing repeats.
Also of note, when Bacillus cuts Godzilla, the green bit is not blood, it's some sort of bacteria from the...bacteria, itself. You can see it red when the mini sub makes a hole of his insides.
This is honestly the best animated Godzilla series in my opinion, its not silly and goofy like the Hanna Barbera show and its not slow and filled with exposition dumps like singular point. It sort of makes me wish that this sereis continued with eiter a 3rd season (if they even planned to go that far) or maybe with a comic series, (Hell imagion if fate was kind enough that this sereis got an animated movie like the 1990 batman series).
I like this zilla, mostly because ya, he is kinda weak but he is not always fully idiot either, using well...."tools" to take out other monsters and some tactics, which to be honest is kinda neat, it's like small trickster architype godzilla.
In the showa era Godzilla normally lost the first fight, would go to the ocean to smoke atomic kush and ponder his orb. Just to return and assert himself as Chadzilla.
The one thing I like is that most of the monsters have a unique thing that causes Godzilla problems. Almost all of them have special attacks or crap that would cause even regular G-man problems
The whole time travel via a ship going into a weird storm might be an homage to the movie, The Final Countdown, which also had a ship travel back in time in a similar manner.
One great thing about this show is that, despite Zilla Jr. technically being aligned with humanity, the show NEVER at any point forgets that he is a wild card and dangerous, and that willingly associating with a kaiju is a huge risk, none of that "kaiju are our big puppy-dog friends and protectors" crap that poisoned the latter half of Showa-era kaiju content. Pity about the lack of any end resolution, tho.
Maybe I should investigate, because arround 2001 or 2002 Cartoon Network Latinamerica transmited the whole series including the unaired episodes. Also it transmited them out of order so _S.C.A.L.E._ could act as the show's finale (not a bad choice, given how the Monster Island was the most prominent serialized plot element on the series)
Today, I realized that the ultimate hero of Singular Point is their version of Nigel, who eventually becomes Jet Jaguar (because that anime series is really the Jet Jaguar show, starring some other Toho kaiju sort of, including special guest appearances by Godzilla.)
Realtalk that’s the most accurate description. I find it funny that I see sone of the people criticizing Godzilla 2014 for not having enough Godzilla on screen praise the hell out of Singular Point which has very little of the titular monster in it at all across several hours.
If the series did get renewed for a season. I could see Cameron winters kaiju defense robots responding to other mutations where godzilla is not. this could get the team feeling down when more nations are not wanting godzilla around when the kdr line has less collateral damage. Only Japan had not KDR on their soil, as they have Mecha Kong. Maybe the series ending with Cameron trying to take over the world with a more established frontline with the cyberflies and kdr along with any stray kaiju outside of monster island. The heat team could use the established kaiju auxillery abilities to take down Camerons robot soldiers with some military assistance against his bunker. the ending having winters face his crimes in jail while the world utilizing the creatures for medicine and other bio tech.
I love the fact to you are reviewing every episode these animated series, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do something similar to this. I know this isn’t Kaiju related, but do you think that you’d ever consider reviewing shows like Gundam? While not monsters, they have a lot of cool robot fights and great stories.
That be quite a task given the amount of shows the Gundam franchise has spawned, but i would like to do it someday. I'v Always liked the Gundam Series. Mobile Fighter G being my Favorite (mainly for Nostalgia).
I really wish this series gave the Zilla-character a bit more leniency from the fanbase. Because I got to admit, the rampant Zilla-Hating really got to be quite Toxic over the years, and I just got tired of it. As far as I'm concerned, this show delivered what the movie promised; it gave us a _new Godzilla._ And I'm perfectly fine with calling it Godzilla; because more important what the creature is, is what it represents.
The komodithrax episode is honestly depressing, especially for a kids show. The ending just feels uncharacteristically meanspirited, with godzilla getting a new family only for them to be killed off just to maintain the status quo and never mention them again.
I think the Nightmare Scorpion and the arachnid like concept for an Astro-Godzilla (replaced by Spacegodzilla) might be where the inspiration for "Red" from the "Godzilla NES Creepypasta" came from. Which goes to explain why he hits well into the aesthetics of game and doesn't feel immediately fake.
Here's a Hot Take. The episode S.C.A.L.E. is a better version of Godzilla King of the Monsters (2019). I mean it has ecoterrorists unleash the familiar monsters (restricted to an island). Plus, it uses the found footage trope in a humorous and entertaining way. Plus, the ecoterrorists actually get punished in the end and are framed as being in the wrong 100%.
Yeah this cartoon is the only thing that stands out from the "Zilla" days. One thing you'd expect is Heat Seeker getting more money after all the times they stopped most of the monsters and watch Godzilla, maybe even be G-Force, but helping Godzilla instead of trying to kill him.
God I wish Godzilla the series continue airing more episodes and seasons with a proper ending to the show, but in reality the show can’t compete with other shows back in the 90’s. I’m really a big fan of the hand drawn animation style in Godzilla the series and a big inspiration for my art style. 18:37 to 18:53 ; Yeah I’ve always wonder why didn’t Heat or anyone mention the Leviathan alien invasion event in episode Area 51 because I find that a continuity error in the show and big writers forget in the series 28:18 to 28:35 ; To answer that plot hole, Winter bribe his way out from his crimes with his many lawyers because he is a Billionaire after all.
12:08 Maybe it's not meant to be Zilla's blood? Rather some toxin/bacterial matrix or what have you. Probably just a continuity error on the part of the show, but it seems a reasonable enough explanation to me to headcanon it.
5:55 that's because the other monsters died during the alien invasion. It may not be that graphic, but you can see when the aliens shoot lasers at them.
it’s such a shame this show never really got a proper conclusion. end of the line in particular just leaves me upset. it would have been a perfect ending if godzilla got to live with komodithrax on the island and raise her young or at least do so on monster island. i think a perfect ending (aside from it just leading into G ‘98 2) would involve Biollante or Destoroyah, mostly the former since she is literally a lab creation.
good review. it's a shame this series didn't go on for longer before being smothered out by more popular shows at the time and the series never had a proper conclusion, but I'm happy this series even existed in the first place to give this version of godzilla a better adaption then the movie did.
If the episodes are out of order I feel Monster Wars trilogy is the finale series making sense why all the monsters reappear and Area 51 episode they didn’t remember the Alien invasion
Fun fact I watched this series when I lived in Michigan and my local town had a festival during the summer called the Humongous Fungus Festival. So I’m curious the episode with the fungus mutant was inspired by that local area.
I used to think hummingbirds as an enemy was completely ridiculous until I started interacting with them more. They're territorial and utterly fearless. I'm over 6 feet tall and built like a gorilla, but whenever I'd go out into the back garden to clean and refill the hummingbird feeder, I would get strafed by the local female, and she would hover, glaring at me, and let out a tiny adorable cheep which by tone alone, was the ruby-throated hummingbird equivalent of "I WILL PECK OUT YOUR EYES AND SPIT IN THE EMPTY SOCKETS IF YOU DON'T LEAVE!!!"
Great review man! My favorite episode from this batch is definitely end of the line. That's so neat that they had a nod to that episode in singular point with the stuffed toys. The 3 robots from that other ep remind me of the robot designs from the film Robot Jox lol

"Even Godzilla fails to stop her on the first encounter..." Is that actually a shocker? Godzilla in this show seems to be a punching bag for other mutants.
This Godzilla (Zilla jr or whatever people called it) is actually a runt that hatched very late. Imagine the potential strength of the alpha ones when they managed to grow up.
Do you know would be awesome if all three of these Mech combine if it’s similar to that concept art of Godzilla versus Mecha Godzilla two yeah that be awesome in the ultimate battle against Godzilla like the tank Will be its right arm like a cannon the Mecha Will be the body and the aircraft ship will be like the head that turns into Mechagodzilla like legit I really like the idea if Mechagodzilla was in the show like the Godzilla hunters could combine them all into Mechagodzilla who like legit that be really awesome in my opinion
To me when I think about it there’s already a Mecha Godzilla Welp cyborg Godzilla who is Mechagodzilla and he was inspired by The manga version of Godzilla versus Mechagodzilla two with the soul of Mecha King Ghidorah possess with Mecha Godzilla and yeah he basically fight Godzilla defeat him before he got spiral beam to death after being revived by Rodan but also it could be cool if they could combine it into a Mechagodzilla name after Mechagodzilla
Actually his blood is still red in that episode because when they go inside of him there’s red blood cells floating around. Also the show is super nostalgic for me and I’m really happy I get to hear other peoples opinions on it
34:06 Man, I'm so happy that you got part 2 of the review, but I had to do a double take when you tried to pronounce 'Gens Du Marais'. I'd go easy on you regarding the matter, but the problem is that the term has been pronounced on-screen, not just by George but by Monique once. I don't speak French fluently, but the g in 'gens' is pronounced like a j, like in 'join'. So it should be pronounced as 'jong doo Mah-ray'. Monique even says that on-screen that 'gens du marais' means 'people of the swamp'. Gens = people, du = of, marais = swamp. As to that clip of George's speech pattern, I know that he has a thick Cajun(?) accent (at least I think it's an attempt at Cajun, I could be wrong; maybe Acadian?), but it's more than intelligible. He said, 'He [Dimanche] overfished the bayou, leaving the Gens du Marais [his people] hungry. He used the waters like a dump'.
they didn't even have the Naruto Run for the Area 51 episode. as for the weird plot hole.... probably watch this BEFORE Monster Wars? yeah, i know it's season 2, but shows back then were notorious for airing episodes out of order- just look at Firefly
honestly this is the best godzilla show for me... i mean i never watched the original and to me i watched singular point..... and i found 80% of it to be a waste of time and just flat out obnoxious with me thinking "just shut up" with the characters half the time... as well as feeling the whole godzilla name along with fellow monsters just being tacked on with no actual relevance to the the monsters or show itself....
Can't believe I missed these videos, pretty sure they're the only ones on UA-cam that summarize every single episode and to a great detail. I remember I had season 1 on VHS (I think), it's nice to know that one of my favorite cartoons continued for another mostly worthwhile season and ended before it got unwatchable.
When Godzilla is infected by the bacteria I don’t think that’s his blood as it’s been consistently red but the some liquid from the bacteria that carries the bacteria that infected Godzilla
the reason for Him losing the first round so often is because Kaiju vs stuff draws on pro wrestling tropes, the villain needs to build some momentum to make the hero winning more awesome or else you get hulkzilla from final wars where the only reason you get brought up is to dunk on Zilla or use Monster X/Kaiser Ghidorah in a desperate attempt to argue that Ghidorah is a better villain than Destoroyah,
If you complain about monsters appearing in strange places and things not adding up, why would you watch in the wrong broadcast order to begin with? May as well do that for every other show you review.
I don't think Godzilla's blood was changed to green, I think he just had infectious ooze spread on his wound. Now let me tell you that a bloodless scratch (which stings just thinking about it) with green snot smeared into it is *infinitely* worse then if he actually just bled normally.
That Area 51 episode reminds me of the original Gamera series, were characters would always be like "Aliens aren't real" despite the multiple alien invasions up until that point
You can say that for Godzilla movies from the Showa series as well.
I'm suddenly reminded of scene in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue where an older lady tells a young girl that monsters aren't real... Despite this being the season with literal demons invading every other day.
Power Rangers Lightspeed rescue had 'monsters aren't real' woman.
It is really weird that it's a common trope.
Huh, Singular Point referencing this show was unexpected.
Interesting fact is despite apparently being considered lost media in USA two unaired episodes of this series was aired on Russian TV around 2005/6
honestly, it's a shame the series didn't have a proper ending, I feel as though if the ratings were still high enough and the show had enough budget, I feel as though maybe they could have brought in a few classic toho monsters for an "end of days" type finale

@@Matkaizer08Oh idk I think it’s kinda cool
I know this is a coincidence but that first episode gave me Reign of Fire vibes just for kids.
Freak Show? No Cash of the Titans was the final episode, it's why all the characters walk away in a happy couples ending.
speaking about that who else would like to see Gundam series including giant monster or Godzilla herself.
the reason for Him losing the first round so often is because Kaiju vs stuff draws on pro wrestling tropes, the villain needs to build some momentum to make the hero winning more awesome
or else you get hulkzilla from final wars where the only reason you get brought up is to dunk on Zilla or use Monster X/Kaiser Ghidorah in a desperate attempt to argue that Ghidorah is a better villain than Destoroyah,
If you complain about monsters appearing in strange places and things not adding up, why would you watch in the wrong broadcast order to begin with? May as well do that for every other show you review.
I am pretty sure El Guasano was killed in Monster Wars part 3
I don't think Godzilla's blood was changed to green, I think he just had infectious ooze spread on his wound.
Now let me tell you that a bloodless scratch (which stings just thinking about it) with green snot smeared into it is *infinitely* worse then if he actually just bled normally.
The green bacteria makes his blood green because it’s not his blood it’s the bacteria’s “infection”
Godzilla's rampaging
How other people sea cartoon Godzilla roar fire and stuff
How I see him Mario help me!!!
EPIC
What was inappropriate about the timing of that particular Nigel death???
He probably meant that it was a mood killer for the intense feeling hostage scene?
@@rejectclone4504 yeah I could see that it does break the flow
31:17 Hell yeah. A Kaiju in the Mitten State.
