I honestly was having seconds thought in watching this because of the comment section. But then again, I doubt they watch channels like yours in the first place 🤔

Enrile who survived an ambush where I wasn't even alive, is still alive today at 98. His persistence to live became a meme here in the Philippines, ranging from photos with his favorite t-rex, brownie, planting the tree where eve got the apple, and being part of the three kings that gave gifts to baby jesus.
The ambush of Enrile in 1972 was TRUE. SOURCE: The NY Times and Jaime Panesa, reporter for PNS, Philippine News Service in 1972. The fake ambush from a yellow narrative was Enrile's propaganda when he broke away from the Marcos leadership and joined the so-called people's revolt in 1986. He retracted it later on due to the fact that he no longer needed a propaganda for garnering support, and it already served its purpose, to protect himself and his group in staging a coup against Marcos using the EDSA people power. Enrile actually fooled the yellows/anti-Marcos into believing the fake ambush up until now.
@@cnycaq8768 But in 1988 book, “Waltzing with a Dictator,” New York Times reporter Raymond Bonner wrote that while Enrile’s wife, Cristina, said that God had saved her husband, “God had had nothing to do with it. @@carokann4244 I read that book too. You need to know who Cristina was other than being the wife of Enrile to put it in perspective, what was her impression of the Marcoses and their patriarch's administration for being kept in the dark coupled with Enrile's affair with women. She never said Marcos and Enrile staged a fake ambush in 1972 directly. Ask her, she still alive today. Haven't you wonder why Inquirer, a news outlet that has nothing good to say about the Marcoses ever since, quoted an anti-Marcos book instead of Cristina herself? Oh, don't include "other international and other local prominent news companies," it's only Inquirer that quoted that. Unfortunately, corruption is still rampant in the Philippines. Even today, the Marcos clan has significant influence in spite of its history. The Philippines is effectively an oligarchy and the Marcos family is simply one of a few such families that dominate the political landscape. For ordinary people it doesn't really matter who is in charge since all they do is use their power to benefit themselves and their families at the expense of the Filipino people.

I don't wanna go explaining everything but in a nutshell people remembered him here because life in the Philippines in present times becomes so hard as the our nation slowly fall into debts and many crisis. While this is happening people try to look back on the old time when the Philippines are still considered great or better. Just like how Americans look back and remembered living in the 50s ,60s, 70s, and 80s and dubbed it as America Greatest, Dreaming of making the country great again. Yet people overlook some problems during those times like the cold war, Vietnam, Gulf war, Racial prejudice, Poverty, and many others. Same as they overlook his obvious corruption and greed for power. To understand how some people here still support Marcos, you could compare it to how some southerners defended and Justified the Confederates today. They want to keep their legacy even though its obvious that they did something that is wrong.
The first part of this is especially poignant. It is true, people look at the past with rose colored glasses and pain can be forgotten. Adults now, were just children when Marcos was in power and children never understand how bad it is. "The Good Old Days" were never as good as you think.
@DarkdaemonPK2 What does "better" mean? We certainly can say Marcos did worse with the destruction of ethics, morals and decency with his 20 years in power.

Note: The Aquino Admin was negotiating with the rebels to grant them autonomy over their region and hundreds of millions in financial incentives. Aquino said he didnt know 2. President Pnoy Aquino's, son of Cory Aquino chosen candidate Mar Roxas for the 2016 presidential election getting recorded hinting that the administration that they would withhold sending aid to Super typhoon Yolanda struck areas that were Marcos supporters. The US army donated MREs for the devastated areas. The news said they were diverted by the Aquino administration to be sold to a major supermarket chain. 3. In order to support president Aquinos chosen cadidate. Their supporters instituted charges both in the legal courts and courts of public opinion. There were 6 candidates. 1. A sitting senator during the Aquino Admin was questioned with not being eligible to run because she was alegedly an American citizen but this charge only came out after she declared her intent to run and after she refused to join the Aquino party 2. President Duterte is alleged to have ordered mass execution during his political career as Mayor in the 1980s but those charges started when he publicly condemned the Aquino administration for the bungling of SAF 44 and mismanagement of relief efforts for supertyphoon Yolanda and after he decided to run for the presidency against the Aquinos What is not usually mentioned is Duterte spent most of his political career as an ally of the Aquino and no charges were mentioned against him until he decided to run against the Aquino's chosen. There is even allegation by the Aquino candidate that during the election that Davao city Duterte's hometown was crime ridden and dangerous that he could take the reporters to a drug den and buy drugs at any time. To counter Duterete just showed the press the award certificate he received from the Aquino admin signed by that candidate declaring Davao as the safest city in the Philippines. The other candidates also got the same treatment Now if the Aquinos do this for their former allies what do you think they could do to their enemy the Marcoses when they took power? One last thing, it is a rule that candidates must disclose how much they spent during campaign Duterte spent around 300 million pesos It is roughly how much almost all the other presidential candidates spent. The vice presidents about a third at around 100 million pesos. The Aguino administration candidate that beat Bongbong Marcos for the vice presidency, Lenny Robredo reportedly spent 300 million. Robredo was an unknown and gained national notice after her husband died in a helicopter crash. The Aquino administration candidate running against Duterte refused to disclose how much the administration spent on him. Tackling a biography on one of the 20th Century's Most infamous Dictators and yet there will be defenders and Histoian Revisionist and so forth makes my mind boggle and shock but considering countries like Uganda have people defending Idi Amin and even people defending people like Hiter and Mussolini it would be too tiring and demoralizing trying to argue. You're right, it's exhausting to see the masses defend people who showed contempt and hostility to them. In truth, the villains you mentioned (Hitler etc) are only a small part of the problem. They never went out in person to commit atrocities, but had lots of people to do it for them, and much more people to accept and even support their actions. The problem isn't so much with the leadership, it's with the followership.
@@beno1129 It is both: if there is no leardership, there is no following, and vice versa. But ultimately, it's the dictators who almost always manufacture the problems in the first place, in order to fool the population that they are the solution.

I recall Marcos' ouster fairly well. I remember vividly a detail that this video touched upon briefly but history has largely forgotten: Marcos decision to leave. It was made during a telephone call with U.S. Senator William Proxmire, who was serving as a sort of emissary for the Reagan Administration in the matter. During the call, Proxmire told Marcos "We're making you a one-time offer to get out of there with our help. It's good for 24 hours. After that? You're on your own, and good luck to you from there." Basically a Michael Corleone-like move, but fortunately it worked. It's sad, however, that before and since the Philippine people have had a penchant for both nepotism in government service and both autocracy and corruption in its leaders. All nations have it to a degree, but you'd think people wouldn't so routinely vote for the kids of past leaders, corrupt or otherwise.

Roosevelt that was highly publicized. He also went on to have a military rivalry with George S. Patton in WW2 before storming D-Day with his men despite numerous health issues, storming the beaches on D-Day with nothing but a pistol and cane. 3. Al Smith, a mostly forgotten historical democrat from the early 1900s through the 1940s. he turned the Democrat "Machine" based out of Tammany hall in NYC into a beacon of efficiency and progressive's democrats during the Progressive era. He became governor of New York, ran for the Democratic presidential nomination multiple times. He was originally allies with but then started a rivalry with Franklin D. Roosevelt. they later reconciled. He was of Irish, Italian, and German heritage. His Catholic faith caused huge controversy when he ran for President. He had a rivalry with political star and son in law of Woodrow Wilson William Gibbs McAdoo. He was widely influential in building the Empire State Building, rallying national movement to end prohibition, and denounced the German Nazi government extremely early on. These are my suggestions.
It was a fake ambush that he confessed.
It was a fake ambush. He confessed it 16 years after Martial Law
Marcos and Enrile had staged the ‘ambush,’ as the final justification for martial law.”
Inquirer and other international and local prominent News Companies that interviewed Enrile also published the identical response.
Talagang Hari ng Balimbingan yang si Enrile. Eh ngayon bumabalimbing na naman ng suporta ni Bongbong Marcos kasi pangit na naman kalagayan niya sa gobyerno.😂
Fake or not that "ambush" added to the impression of "unmanageable" communists forces that led to the premature declaration of ML and to the extension in power of Marcoses.
Those who don't really care shouldn't vote. I know voting is encouraged but it is also a necessary measure in response to a problem. If people cannot observe the problem to solve (e.g. poverty, economy, corruption, etc) then they dont understand the necessity to vote. Think of it like a company where so many owners voluntarily vote on the management. Those owners who don't really care about the company shouldn't vote.

@@emperorsblade2786 look up the events in the philippines during the Pnoy Aquino, son of Cory Aquino administration
1. SAF 44 Pnoy sent a hundreds of Special Action Force(something like US SWAT) into a rebel encampment to arrest an international terrorist and abandoning 44 of them to be massacred.(they were killed by beheading and headshots). The national army was encamp nearby was not informed or sent in for over a day.
Note:
The Aquino Admin was negotiating with the rebels to grant them autonomy over their region and hundreds of millions in financial incentives.
After the massacre, the Aquino government planned to continue that deal until the popular uproar over the massacre forced the government to put it on hold.
President Aquino bypassed the regular chain of command to appoint a suspended of officer to run the operation from the capital.
When the bodies were returned for burial. The President was on a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new car plant.
SAF did kill the terrorist. When President Duterte, Aquinos successor, asked what happened to the 2,000,000 us dollar bounty. Aquino said he didnt know
1. A sitting senator during the Aquino Admin was questioned with not being eligible to run because she was alegedly an American citizen but this charge only came out after she declared her intent to run and after she refused to join the Aquino party
2. President Duterte is alleged to have ordered mass execution during his political career as Mayor in the 1980s but those charges started when he publicly condemned the Aquino administration for the bungling of SAF 44 and mismanagement of relief efforts for supertyphoon Yolanda and after he decided to run for the presidency against the Aquinos
What is not usually mentioned is Duterte spent most of his political career as an ally of the Aquino and no charges were mentioned against him until he decided to run against the Aquino's chosen.
The other candidates also got the same treatment
Now if the Aquinos do this for their former allies what do you think they could do to their enemy the Marcoses when they took power?
One last thing, it is a rule that candidates must disclose how much they spent during campaign
Duterte spent around 300 million pesos It is roughly how much almost all the other presidential candidates spent.
I am not saying Marcoses are perfect but the Pnoy Aquinos actions destroyed their familys legacy and painted the Marcoses in a more romantic light.
The Aquino party whose traditional color was yellow we call dilawans are so tarnished their party rebranded around Lenny Robredo as Kakampinks. Pink allies.

True, children must learn about our history, controversial or not.

He would ask my mom to sing "Lupang Hinirang" and ask her for an oral examination about "Panatang Makabayan" at his Presidential Office (checking if my mom knows these by heart).
Mrs Marcos even remembered when she saw my mom in the wake of the late Executive Secretary Venus that my mom had full access to Pres Marcos' Office. Ironically, Mrs Marcos needed to ask permission first from the executive secretary to see her husband.
My mom once said to Pres Marcos that she did not want to take law as attorneys are liars. Pres Marcos jokingly laughed and asked, "Do you mean I am one of them?". Then they laughed together.
My mom knew Pres Marcos was true to his heart and that he wanted to help every Filipino.
Pres Marcos offered my mom a scholarship so that she could take Law. My mom refused and took Education instead. Afterwards, she became an educator at the International School of Manila after graduating. He was a mentor and a coach to my mom.
She always remembers what Pres Marcos told her, "Don't let people drag you down. If they perceive you as a bad person, don't get affected. Just move forward and focus on things that will help you succeed in life. Help your detractors if you see them suffer."
@@michaelraro6378 Nice favoritism bro.
Well researched. I hope your team can also make a Biographics about Marco's last nail to his coffin, Ninoy Aquino. Looking forward on more Filipinos feature in your channel.
Ninoy died for nothing; Bongo is now President.
Welp now the BBM supporter here on Philippines are glorifying him and using it so people would vote his son and the people are believing them, we are utterly fucked.
YES!!! I've been waiting for this!! 🇵🇭🇵🇭 Do Jose Rizal next!
Or maybe Ninoy Aquino or Antonio Luna

@@TwentyNinerR Yes. He was assassinated by him. He was incarcerated pre-hand and famously went on a hunger strike.

English is a language po and not a basis of ones intellect. Don't brag about being good in grammar if you yourself can't even understand the simple things. Lol. Matalino yarn? hahaha
Hello not a marcos fantics but please hindi basehan ng katalinuhan ang english kase ito ay isang lenggwahe.
plsss why are apologists here if theyre not even believing all these even though valid sources are provided on the description already. Come on now, have yall even watched the vid?
My lolo is a CPA in COA during Marcos Era during his time it has been said that those corrupt must resign or be persecuted. Corrupted officials has fear unlike now.
My lolo has 8 children to which one is my mother they all got into education regardless no fear of Martial law it made them feel safe.
He also adores Marcos.
I assume he punged records for it to look good 🤔
Same. My grandparents lived in his time and said they feel protected. There were a lot of rallyist, activist, communists and NPA supporters who are disrupting the peace. Martial law was declared to protect Filipinos.
I am really enjoying these videos. I hope that you can do some on some of the leaders under the Iron Curtain that are not the Premiere of the Soviet Union. I'd like to know more about the leaders of Eastern Europe during the 1940's through the 1980's. Thanks!
Tbh removing marcos from power is a must, but electing a housewife with no experience in politics is a 🙅
@DarkdaemonPK2 That's exactly why. In Byzantine Empire, those emperors who relied on their ministers rekt the empire to the point that they simply don't exist anymore in any form
Thanks so much for giving justice to the Filipino democracy by exposing the lies and deceit of Ferdinand Marcos.✊✊
Did Cory Aquino do justice to the Filipinos after the 1986 coup? Of course not, she is EVEN more worst than Marcos.
@@AccipiterSmith true Marcos may have been wrong on many levels but the Cory Admin were somewhat worse
Who the heck would fire lethal rounds to quell a small group of protesters
Basically, A dictator was replaced by a family of dictators. A family of dictators hiding in the guise of democracy.
The Cory Aquino admin experienced more than 6 coup attempts due to Marcos' influence, reestablishing and restructuring of the government , the massive burden of a crippled economy and national debt reaching maturity.
It took years to remove Marcos' cronies clinging to power in the economy and the military. Even with all of that, she managed to stablize the nation's finances in just 6 years. She even managed to acquire several dozen military assets that we still use today like the, S-211 jets, the Commando armored vehicles (the media calls "tanke"), and MD-520 light attack helicopters.
@@octaviondeminicolas1941 Marcos cronies was already removed when Cory came to power, the economy during her administration went into a downward spiral as inflation rises even more worst than Marcos' and during '89 the minimum wage are low. And for the record, the Cory admin did not buy any military equipment or improve the military itself.

I know this is highly unlikely to ever be seen but I would like to put forward these suggestions for an episode of this incredible show. My suggestions on who should definitely have episodes are the following. 1. Thomas E. Dewey, the Republican prosecutor who helped take down lucky Luciano, Dutch Schultz, who went on to become governor of New York greatly impacting and improving the state. He also went on to be the Republican presidential choice 2 times, one of the last truly influential liberal republicans. 2. Theodore Roosevelt III (or Jr.). son of Theodore Roosevelt who went on to be governor of the Philippines, Puerto Rico, fought valiantly in World war I and then led a rivalry with his distant cousin Franklin D. I really hope you use them as they would be great stories to tell and I'd love to see your channels take on them. I will comment this comment from now on every time a new video comes out, and occasionally make new additions. Best wishes to everyone and keep up the great and entertaining work!
I got to give it to Marcos, his propaganda machine was so good up to the present times a lot of Filipinos are still getting fooled by his false achievements.
I lament the lack of importance put into teaching PH history so much so that present Filipino generation reveres him instead of viewing him as an evil dictator.
False Achievements? said by whom? a paid rebel who are enemies of Marcos during HUKBALAHAP times, yeah right?! the US that all conspired to take him down as he is aiming high to create a sole SEA Currency against the Dollar? Ya lacked research boy!? want to know more why they graciously want to topple Marcos back then?
@@chrissanandres2488 Any source on the US wanting to take him down? Cory wanted to break ties with the US because of their friendly relationship with Marcos so it doesn't make sense for them to let Marcos gets replaced with someone who hate them.
My Great Grandfather was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Philippine army during his administration. He quickly retired as soon as he found out that Marcos was gonna plunge the country into Martial Law despite the fact that his rank would make him a very very powerful man. Safe to say that my Great Grandfather knew the craziness that was about to transpire and he wanted no part of that.
Interesting! Such a brave and wise man your great grandfather.
@@tjjavier Yeah he got shot in the ass and survived the Bataan death march too. I wish I met him. Would've loved to hear the crazy stories he had.
It seems Marcos already had these dreams since he was a soldier
My Father was Working as an DILG officer in the Marcos Era, when martial law began, my father and his family seemed to be unaffected by martial law which made my dad pro-marcos but during the edsa revolution they went into a standstill because the new Cory Aquino administration might remove them from office but months after the cory aquino administration, he would go on and resign in office to be later absorbed by Coca-Cola to gradually be its Fleet Superintendent
@@itsfilipinoball8129 Must've been nice. My great grandfather was lieutenant colonel in the army when it happened. He retired before Martial law took place. He already knew what the Marcos game plan was but wanted no part of it. Upside is he died with a clean conscience and the family never took advantage of the power and benefits of having a high ranking military officer in the family during martial law.
