It would have made the mission a bit more boring but more realistic, but at the same time the enemy would have air power to fight back against the SEAD configured F-16s .

BUK is my favorite SAM, and often undervalued. The gliding bombs can’t be shot down because there are no systems in range and they go to fast for manpads.
Low level Parade formation may not be realistic but h 14:13 ot dang it sure looks good!

The Ukrainians are not intercepting the glide bombs because they are saving their SAMs for the cruise missiles.
pretty much, but that's one of the three main reasons
two others are that (1) we simply do not have enough sams to cover cities and front line, (2) it's easy to locate and destroy our sams once they are close so the front line
You should clarify your statement.
SAM's come in many flavors... glide bombs do not have an IR signature ( no engine ) so heat seeking sam's are useless to start with against current orc glide bombs.
Radar signature is very small, so that's not a really feasible solution either.
IR manpads need line of sight.
Tell me which SAM's are well suited to intercept glide bombs?
The radar cross section is small, but probably not impossibly small. With glide kits, it should definitely be >0.25m² for the FAB-500 and significantly higher for the FAB-1500.
Actually the problem is that most of their SAMs have been destroyed. They been begging for more Patriot for months
@@dexlab7539 Most of their Russian SAM units have been destroyed and they've gone through most of their missiles already and there are few sources for re-loads.
The 2 patriot batteries are still active if short 2 launchers.
The AFU are scheduled to receive 5 new batteries to be delivered this year.
The announcement came from the factory at about the same time that the company announced that it had increased production to 500 missiles/yr (41/month) and will be at 550 by end of 2024.
BTW the Khinzal production is observed to be around 10 missiles/mo.
As far as maintaining radio silence in real life, pilots have the luxury of using hand signs to communicate, where you guys don't. And there's a AWAC's transmitting VOX to all, they just cannot reply, but they can hear it. So it's like having a quarterback calling out the plays and the lineman hearing, but not responding. "...and turn...NOW!..." And the newer aircraft, the F-35 and F-22 can send text back and forth on their datalinks, it's all part of the high information aspect of the new systems. DCS is not really set up for that kind of thing. But it would be fun to try. Even if one person acted like an AWACs and coached each player.
Radio silence is not much fun to listen to with these videos though. 😀

According to real F16 pilots the mission would be over as soon the F16 tries to start from a road, because of engine failures. Rocks and all kind of stuff would be sucked into the intake.

In the game the Russians are attacking storage units not playgrounds and markets. So I'd say the game isn't very realistic.

Does anyone know why the afterburner column thing shrinks and expands in diameter as the engine spools up and then the afterburner ignites?
It's called a convergent-divergent variable nozzle. To get the max power out of the engine you shrink the exit hole size, BUT when after burner engages the nozzle MUST be opened to max for it to work properly.

One minor problem. You're going to have to fly your F 16s from Poland to get to the target. Anything parked in Ukraine is called a target. With the amazing fuel economy of the F 16, getting near the front line is a significant part of the battle.
IRL not a chance Rus IADS too strong. A50S are linked with S400s and su 30/5. As soon as F16 is detected by A50 4n6 missiles will being climbing then diving on F16.
That might be how their IADS system is supposed to work but recent history suggests that not everything performs in real life as it does on paper.
We've all seen that video of the SA-11, or BUK, or whatever it was, shooting itself. So ye, on paper its all golden, on video however, it's kinda not

2 new missiles from the US this week. One uses AI in swarm to divide up targets. The other is hypersonic that can be internal on f35. The game has changed boys.

Dividing targets has been a long standing problem leading to overkill, wasted missiles, wasted money, wasted life. Typically the goal is to sink a ship, not kill the whole crew. And hypersonics matter because stand-off systems can be overcome by speed. US adopted this stand off approach. That was countered by superior dog fighters and hypersonics. F-16s could take out glide bombs easy but even Russia doesn't use its aviation on the front much so that part was a dumb test. Ukraines not getting F-16s to dues on the front anyway.
