As a person who is from the land of Tokay geckos, I marvel at the amount of Americans who want this giant, grumpy monstrosity. Seriously these things strike fear into the hearts of Southeast Asian people.

I love the idea of having the grow tent be a tokay tent. I don't think many people realized that these tents would be used this way, its such a great innovation.

Bruh my male is like that flighty one at the beginning where you kept saying “you got this” but it’s 10x as bad because he runs, then is caught, then flails about until he can bite you over and over and over, and then you give up and put him back. it’s very frustrating. Add some barking too, and even more escaping cuz he’s small and I’m scared to hold him super tightly
I’m just glad my female isn’t as bad, especially since she has a vet visit coming up to be cleared for breeding

Always interesting to see these kept as pets. I spend 6 months a year in the Philippines, and am torn between their potentially obnoxious vocalizations and their interesting appearance.

Tokays make the weirdest sounds lmao
They sound like a dog squeaky toy lol
i seen some people feeding them with chopsticks but they have to climb onto their arm to get the meal. That being repeated over and over again looked like it worked quite well on particularlly spicy geckos. And another person stroking their tails? The general theme i observed was sort of let them come to you on their terms.. But i also seen other people somewhat forcing the socialisation. I guess whichever works maybe? Im semi intrested in them even though i've not had a lizard before 😂 Bit of a catch paradox. I like watching them be sassy and laugh at pepole being nervous around them but if i managed to tame one at that point i may aswell of bought a regular leopard gecko.. Im a glutton for punishment i guess.. Once they are tame though they've got pretty big lifespans compared to alot of pets so you get alot of quality years with them

Oh em gee the babies are so cute!! Do you still keep and breed these geckos? Do you keep them inside the tent to keep their humidity level up? Or is it because they’re so good at escaping? I think they’re awesome. My hypo Tangerine Milk snake used to leave bloody bite marks on me all the time too. So it brought back some memories. (She’s STILL not friendly. But she doesn’t bite me or musk all over me anymore, she just doesn’t like human company. Even if I touch her lightly to let her know she has food in her dish, she’ll push me away with a coil. So I try to respect that. My other two are very friendly. One is very human oriented and loves coming right to me. It’s amazing to see the different personalities among them. My frogs are tiny, I keep telling them I’m not going to hurt them or eat them, but they aren’t convinced yet. I ordered some kid training chopsticks on Amazon. I’ll see if I can buy their love with crickets and dubias. Lol. And my parrots are good with ME. The rest of the world not so much. But my Caique loves him too. But still prefers me. Next time, if you can, and it won’t endanger any of the babies, can you show us what the eggs and “nest” site looks like and what the babies look like? Are the parents good parents? Or just good enough to NOT eat their babies?

Can you use coil UVB for Tokays? Or should I stick to T8 or T5? What bin sizes do you use? Man you got fucked up by those tokays😂
